The effect of purposeful computer activity using alternative input devices on the performance and satisfaction of patients with cerebral palsy (대체입력기기를 이용한 목적 있는 컴퓨터 작업 활동이 뇌성마비 환자의 수행도 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the use of an alternative input device on the patient's work performance and satisfaction in patients with cerebral palsy who cannot use computers. Design: Case Series Description. Methods: The participant was one adult cerebral palsy. The three tasks were applied with an alternative input device (Quick-Glance), 1 session an hour, 3 times a week, a total of 12 times for 4 weeks. The assessment was using the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). The evaluation was performed pre-test before the intervention, post-test after the last intervention, and follow-up after one month. Results: The COPM(Satisfaction and performance scores) showed 3 points for pre-test, 7 points for post-test, and 7 points for follow-up. Conclusion: Purposeful computer work activity, which is an alternative input device, has a positive effect on work performance and satisfaction of cerebral palsy patients who are difficult to use computer.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a hard- wired AGV controller using CPLD(Complex Programmable Logic Device). The proposed controller manages a guidance equipment, motor and I/O sequence controller for a self-control traveling. Compared with a conventional $\mu$-processor, the CPLD controller using a hard-wired control method can reduce a difficult programming process. Also, the total costs of production are reduced, such as development time, product's size and difficulty because memory, combinational logic and sequential logics are implemented by CPLD. The Controller designed using behavioral description method with VHDL and was synthesized by MAX+Plus II of the ALTERA co. We implemented controller using EPF10K10LC84-4 device.

  • This paper aims to develop a VR device prototype for reducing eye fatigue. As VR devices become popular, it is hoped that many cases of eye fatigue will be reported, and that the problems of VR devices will be corrected and repaired for a better future so that the fast speed and dynamic environment of 4th industrial revolution can be enjoyed with ease. In this paper, VR devices with a description of VR devices, eye fatigue related cases, time-out sensor for reducing eye fatigue, and eyeball massage functions were designed, and a VR device prototype was developed. These features can help reduce fatigue even if used for long periods of time by blocking electromagnetic waves harmful to the human body, and the future of VR could develop in the future.

  • Optimized algorithms and numerical expressions which had been verified through C program simulation, should be analyzed again with HDL (hardware description language) such as Verilog, so that the verified ones could be modified to be applied directly to hardware implementation. The reason is that the characteristics of C programming language design is intrinsically different from the hardware design structure. The hardware IP verified doubly in view of hardware structure together with algorithmic verification, was implemented on the Altera Excalibur FPGA device equipped with ARM9 microprocessor core, to a real chip prototype, using Altera embedded system development tool kit. The implemented finite field calculation IPs can be used as library modules as Elliptic Curve Cryptography finite field operations which has more than 193 bit key length.

  • In order to complete engineering works of the digital substation, Both Data transmission among a variety of IEDs and HMIs, and single line diagram of the substation might be done based on XML documents published in IEC 61850 international standards. This kind of XML based engineering process for the digital substation must be implemented not by manual written work but by the engineering tool using a computer. But most of the engineering tools do not support system based engineering works such as single line diagram of the substation but have only function to set IEDs as single device unit. Accordingly, this paper presents a new design method of the system based engineering description applicable to real IEC 61850 based substation through analyzing the current international standard and its sampled engineering file, and shows implementation of the engineering tool of the digital substation with the result of this study.

  • The Smart Home or intelligent home network control system has the need for home devices to cooperate for the purpose of providing the automated services to residents. The cooperation of home devices can be defined as the service for residents that it controls simultaneously two or more home devices with the same purpose about user's control request of specific home device. A object of home device cooperation are the function object of home device, it is well defined in each device model in AHAM(Association of Home Appliance Manufactures) nth(Connected Home Appliances). AMAM CHA is to promote new appliance services and features enabled through networking by describing generic appliance models, objects, and high-level messages, but does not consider the description and process of cooperation between objects of each device model. This paper defines the cooperation relationship that could be discovered in among home devices, and proposes the cooperation model that AHAM objects could process the cooperation relationship.

Dental Hygienist's Job Perception of Some Prospective Graduates (일부 치위생학과 졸업예정자의 치과위생사 직무에 대한 인식)

  • Introduction: The legal duties of Korean dental hygienists are different from the actual tasks. These factors cause dental hygienists to experience work stress. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate what tasks the dental hygienist expects to perform. Methods: This study examined the perception of dental hygienists' work on 158 prospective graduates of the 3rd-year and 4th-year course of dental hygiene. The questionnaire about the dental hygienist's duties was prepared based on the job description of dental hygienists by the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute. Results: More than 84% said that all of the work in the second job description was possible as dental hygienists. subjects responded that the following items were not dental hygienists' duties: treatment plan based on medical history and dental history, treatment plan based on an intraoral and extraoral examination, treatment plan based on the results of teeth and periodontal examination, analysis of oral health data in community, planning of oral health promotion in community, planing of water fluoridation, reading of radiography, root planing, physical treatment on head and neck, using an ultrasonic device on head and neck, dealing with laser devices, making a temporary crown, suture and stitch-out, and intramuscular injection. Conclusions: Most graduates of dental hygiene departments have recognized that the tasks described in the second job description are dental hygienists' work; therefore, it is necessary to improve the gap between expected work and legal work.

A STUDY ON THE JUJEON OF AUTOMATIC CLEPSYDRA IN EARLY JOSEON DYNASTY (조선 전기 자동물시계의 주전(籌箭) 연구)

  • Jagyeokru, an automatic striking water clock described in the Sejong Sillok (Veritable Records of King Sejong) is essentially composed of a water quantity control device and a time-signal device, with the former controlling the amount or the flow rate of water and the latter automatically informing the time based on the former. What connects these two parts is a signal generating device or a power transmission device called the 'Jujeon' system, which includes a copper rod on the float and ball-racked scheduled plates. The copper products excavated under Gongpyeong-dong in Seoul include a lot of broken plate pieces and cylinder-like devices. If some plate pieces are put together, a large square plate with circular holes located in a zigzag can be completed, and at the upper right of it is carved 'the first scheduled plate (一箭).' Cylinder-like devices generally 3.8 cm in diameter are able to release a ball, and have a ginkgo leaf-like screen fixed on the inner axis and a bird-shaped hook of which the leg fixes another axis and the beak attaches to the leaf side. The lateral view of this cylinder-like device appears like a trapezoid and mounts an iron ball. The function of releasing a ball agrees with the description of Borugak Pavilion, where Jagyeokru was installed, written by Kim Don (1385 ~ 1440). The other accounts of Borugak Pavilion's and Heumgyeonggak Pavilion's water clocks describe these copper plates and ball releasing devices as the 'Jujeon' system. According to the description of Borugak Pavilion, a square wooden column has copper plates on the left and right sides the same height as the column, and the left copper plate has 12 drilled holes to keep the time of a 12 double-hours. Meanwhile, the right plate has 25 holes which represent seasonal night 5-hours (Kyeong) and their 5-subhours (Jeom), not 12 hours. There are 11 scheduled plates for seasonal night 5-hours made with copper, which are made to be attached or detached as the season. In accordance with Nujutongui (manual for the operation of the yardstick for the clepsydra), the first scheduled plate for the night is used from the winter solstice (冬至) to 2 days after Daehan (大寒), and from 4 days before Soseol (小雪) to a day before the winter solstice. Besides the first scheduled plate, we confirm discovering a third scheduled plate and a sixth scheduled plate among the excavated copper materials based on the spacing between holes. On the other hand, the width of the scheduled plate is different for these artifacts, measured as 144 mm compared to the description of the Borugak Pavilion, which is recorded as 51 mm. From this perspective, they may be the scheduled plates for the Heumgyeonggak Ongru made in 1438 (or 1554) or for the new Fortress Pavilion installed in Changdeokgung palace completed in 1536 (the 31st year of the reign of King Jungjong) in the early Joseon dynasty. This study presents the concept of the scheduled plates described in the literature, including their new operating mechanism. In addition, a detailed model of 11 scheduled plates is designed from the records and on the excavated relics. It is expected that this study will aid in efforts to restore and reconstruct the automatic water clocks of the early Joseon dynasty.

  • A mobile device like ceil phone is the necessity of modern people, of ich con be easily connected to a wireless internet through such a mobile device. The demand for a wireless data communication is growing rapidly. However, agencies have not yet completed standardization of a markup language. Due to the development of the Mobile Device, agencies in this field have provided different data formats with each Mobile Device Platform. Traditionally, contents is hand-tailored to suit the target device. A key problem is that the characteristics and capabilities of the mobile device are too diverse to service the most suitable mobile contents. Because of these problems, the need for a re-usable document description language increases. In this paper, we defined Template file that is common data to service mobile devices. We proposed a method that could be an effective wireless web service though design and the implementation of the Call manager & the XSL Generator. In the methodology, when requesting a wireless internet service, a mobile device finds out markup language and a hardware specification of the mobile device through the Call Manager component supports. The XSL Generator component creates the XSL file dynamically that is the most suitable to a device. Finally, contents is serviced to each device by XSLT. It can generate a wireless page more easily by reusing the existing web contents through such course. Therefore, it can save the time and expense for generating a wireless page.
