  • In this paper, we discuss an optimization approach for time-synchronizations in networked simulators. This method is a sub-technology that is required to combine heterogeneous simulators into a single simulation. In previous time-synchronization studies, they had built a network system among networked simulators. The network system collects network packets and adds time-stamps to the networked packets based on the time that occurs in events of simulation objects in the individual simulators. Then, it sorts them in chronological order. Finally, the network system applies time-synchronization to each simulator participating in interworking sequentially. However, the previous approaches have a limitation in that other participating simulators should wait for while processing an event in a simulator in a time stamp order. In this paper, we attempt to solve the problem by optimizing time-synchronizations in networked simulation environments. In order to prove the practicality of our approach, we have conducted an experiment. Finally, we discuss the contributions of this paper.

  • Purpose: Accelerated degradation tests can be effective in assessing product reliability when degradation leading to failure can be observed. This article proposes an accelerated degradation test model for highly reliable solid state drives (SSDs). Methods: We suggest a nonlinear mixed-effects (NLME) model to degradation data for SSDs. A Monte Carlo simulation is used to estimate lifetime distribution in accelerated degradation testing data. This simulation is performed by generating random samples from the assumed NLME model. Conclusion: We apply the proposed method to degradation data collected from SSDs. The derived power model is shown to be much better at fitting the degradation data than other existing models. Finally, the Monte Carlo simulation based on the NLME model provides reasonable results in lifetime estimation.

  • Recently automotive software has been more complex and needs to be reduced its development time. Software testing of its functionalities and performance should be conducted in an early development phase to reduce time to market and the development cost. Software functional testing can be performed through simulating the hardware, but it is not guaranteed that evaluation of real-time performance using simulation has enough accuracy. Real-time performance can be precisely evaluated with hardware-in-the-loop simulation, but it costs time and effort to set up hardware for testing. In this paper, we suggest a testing system that can evaluate functional requirements and real time properties with a general-purpose development board in the early development phase. In addition, we improve reusability of the testing system through modularized and layered architecture. With the proposed testing system we can contribute to building reliable testing system at low cost without difficulty.

  • In this paper, we have described target positioning of automatic survey system. Target positioning error analysis shows target positioning errors are mainly dependent on the vertical angle of the triangle configured by target and two measurement points. Suggested target positioning error formula are confirmed by simulation using the Gaussian distribution.

  • As design of very large circuits is made possible by rapid development of VLSI technologies, efficient fault simulation is needed. Ingeneral, fault simulation requires many computer resources. As general-purpose multiprocessors become more common and affordable, these seem to be an attractive and effective alternative for fault simulation. Efficient fault simulation of synchronous sequential circuits has been reported to be attainably by using a linear iterative array model for such a circuit, and combining parallel fault simulation with russogate fault simulation. Such fault simulation algorithm is parallelized on a general-purpose multiprocessor with shard memory for acceleration of fault simulation. Through the experimenal study, the effect of the number of processors on speed-up of simulation, processor utilization, and the effect of multiprocessor hardware on simulation performance are studied. Some results for experiments with benchmark circuits are shown.

  • This study proposes a modeling process of equivalent terrains to reduce the computational load and time of a full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulation. To verify the suitability of the proposed process, an original terrain model with a size of $3m{\times}3m$ is equivalently quantized based on the minimum range resolution of a radar, and the radar image of the quantized model is compared with that of the original model. The results confirm that the simulation time can be reduced from 407 hours to 162 hours without a significant distortion of the radar images, and an average estimation error of the quantized model (20.4 mm) is similar to that of the original model (20.3 mm).
