  • Dynamic behaviors of the impact damper are studied experimentally and numerically. In order to investigate wide range of excitation frequencies and amplitudes, a simple but high amplifying and bias-free experimental setup is designed. Experiments focused on the harsh operation condition demonstrate Accelerated mass loading which not only deteriorates the performance of the impact damper but also involves the structural resonance which should be avoided for the stability of the system. In the previous studies, instability or deterioration of the performance was reported for the off resonance frequency region. But this paper shows that the performance deterioration and structural resonances can be predicted. Using finite element modeling and analysis, accurate system parameters were derived and used for the numerical modeling employing the conservation of the momentum. Numerical study of the transient responses using 4th-order Runge-Kutta method demonstrates general performance of the system, and shows that accelerated mass loading phenomenon is deeply related with the vibration amplitudes and the mass of the auxiliary system.

  • There are many factors that generate the early deterioration of the concrete structure. As the one of the representative factors, we can think an invasion of the water, air and so on. The water and air invade in inside void along the capillarity and they become the cause that the durability like corrosion of layer department due to freezing and thawing, inside steel frame corrosion, and so on blacks. Therefore with covering permeability covering waterproofing material of fluid condition in outer wall, intercepting the deterioration factor due to the infiltration of water from outside and for salt damage of concrete layer department, freezing damage and neutralization, it needs to improve durability of structure. This study separately examined physical and chemical specific of quality liquid siliceous of waterproofing material. Therefore as this applys the construction site, it improves the durability of concrete structure. Further this presents the application plan from the construction market against the new material.

  • This paper describes the technique of deterioration diagnosis for ZnO element. Due to the non-linear resistance of ZnO block, the total leakage current contains harmonics when arrester deteriorated. The most significant harmonics is the 3rd order component. So, it can be used as an indicator of the arrester condition. An iron core, which has a very high relative permeability, is used for increasing detection sensitivity and the 3th order harmonics of leakage current was detected by band-pass circuit. And we have verified the reliability and performance of the sensing device through several laboratory tests.

  • This paper described an on-line condition monitoring device for rotating machines by measurement of unbalance current due to insulation deterioration. The device consists of a zero-phase current transformer (ZCT), a low-noise amplifying circuit, and a microprocessor unit. The prototype device measures current of $500\;{\mu}A\;{\sim}\;30\;mA$ in frequency ranges from 10 Hz to 3 kHz. An application experiment was carried out on 3-phase induction motors and we could measure current changes caused by a short-circuited turn.

  • The seismic fragility analyses of reinforced concrete propelled beam are performed to evaluate safety margin. The models were simulated by Latin Hyper-Cube (LHC) method considering various aging-related deterioration of RC beam. Fragility curves under various condition subjected to static load are compared. It is found that the 20$\%$ loss of top and bottom steel 15$\%$ lower than the undegraded beam in the ultimate strength. Seismic fragility analyses were performed to find out the effect of aging-related deterioration on the dynamic behaviour of RC beam.

  • Coil specimens were prepared by continuous coating on a copper wire with flexible PAI (polyamideimide) and PAI/nanosilica (5 wt%) varnish and thermally aged at 150, 200 and $250^{\circ}C$ for 5, 10 and 15 days, respectively. AC insulation breakdown voltage was investigated under inverter surge condition at 60 Hz and 1,000 Hz and insulation breakdown voltage decreased with increasing aging temperature and aging time at each 60 and 1,000 Hz.

  • This study develops practical models and methods for the assessment of safety and capacity rating of existing P.C. girder bridges based on the reliability methods. One of the main objectives of the study is to propose a practical but realistic limit state model for safety assessment and LRFR rating criteria, which explicitly incorporates the degree of deterioration and damage as well as actual condition of P.C. girder bridges in terms of the damage factor and the response ratio. The damage factor proposed in the paper is defined as the ratio of the current estimated stiffness to the intact base-line stiffness of a member. Based on the observation and the results of applications to existing bridges, it may be concluded that the proposed methods for the assessment and capacity rating models, which explicitly account for the uncertainties and effects of degree of deterioration or damage, provide more realistic and consistent safety-assessment and capacity rating.

  • Domestic construction industry is facing big difficulties by a worldwide financial crisis. Especially the deterioration of liquidity by the reject of banks for project financing and unsold housing project made a big problem on financing for the ongoing and new projects. To solve this, it is critical for construction companies. banking facilities and public organizations to cooperate and support each other. In this study, the methods which each part can do are investigated. Construction companies can do a price reduction, finance condition improvement for deposit and down payment, asset sale and cost reduction. And Public organizations can buy the assets of construction companies with proper price and ease the regulation to activate transactions of real estate. In the case of Banking facilities, they can support arrangement and liquidation of insolvent projects and so on.

  • The dielectric constants of fresh engine oils were obtained according to various types of oil, temperatures and frequencies. Through analyzing the characteristics of dielectric constant, the related correlation between the changes in dielectric constant of oil and the degree of oil deterioration is going to be found. The dielectric constant was calculated by cross capacitances measured by a sensor tube. Before finding the correlation, as a prerequisites study, the best condition measuring the dielectric constant was found. In general, it was found that the value of dielectric constant became stable below $60^{\circ}C$ regardless frequency variation. Further, above 6kHz, the dielectric constant became stable even if temperature had been above $100^{\circ}C$.
