This study aims to propose the comprehensive evaluation of performance multi-family housing. Most of the existing studies for the reproduction have evaluated by the safety of structure. Therefore those pass over the functional factors which is important for the evaluation of residential qualities. This study represents that the reproduction renovation should not be secured the safety of structure but established the quality of lift. And questionnaire asking expert's opinion also supplemented. As a result, the item for examination and the weight for evaluation are suggested in functional deterioration. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. Existent redevelopment criteria are not appropriate to decide the environmental comfort, the vital function of housing and the residential management finance. 2. The future criteria have to evaluate the existing environmental comfort, be reconstructed to put first general deterioration. 3. Evaluation elements was extracted throughout the document research, evaluation elements analysis system was separated in residential area, suburb of dwellings, community, and housing complexity environmental assesment, 4. Each category of influence ratio was extracted to assess total deterioration throughout the expert question survey. 5. Each category analysed (1) $0{\sim}30%$: function is good (unnecessary to improve) (2) $31{\sim}40%$: average (necessary of partial improvement) (3) $41{\sim}59%$: bad (necessary of total improvement) (4) $60{\sim}100%$: the worst (unable to improve throughout the repair)

The river environments of many streams in korea have been deteriorate through the rapid industrialization and urbanization since the 1960s. In korea, on the other hand, much efforts on the research and project have been made for the restoration of the deteriorated streams to close-to-nature. in order to restore the deteriorated streams, therefore, it is necessary to investigate such advanced technologies and materials. In view of this requirement, various research paths are being taken focusing on coarse aggregates to make multi-functional porous concrete having continuous voids so as to improve water and air permeability, acoustic absorption, water purification, and applicability to vegetation. The Purpose of this study is to investigate the method for recovery of the environment in the streams area using porous concrete painting block. the P.O.C block applies for test in the kyungan-cheon have been monitored planting during six month. after 6 months, plant grows flourishing and reconstructed in state such as nature rivers.
This paper investigates earthquake response of reinforced concrete regular frames subjected to rebar corrosion. A typical four-story reinforced concrete frame is designed according to Turkish Earthquake Code in order to examine earthquake response. Then different levels of rebar corrosion scenarios are applied to this frame structure. The deteriorated conditions as a result of these scenarios are included loss in cross sectional area of rebar, loss of mechanical properties of rebar, loss in bond strength and variations in damage limits of concrete sections. The frame is evaluated using a nonlinear static analysis in its sound as well as deteriorated conditions. The rebar corrosion effect on the structural response is investigated by comparing the response of the frame in each scenario with respect to the sound condition of the frame. The results shows that the progressive deterioration of the frame over time cause serious reductions on the base shear and top displacement capacity and also structural ductility of the corroded frames. The propagation time, intensity, and extensity of rebar corrosion on the frame are important parameters governing the effect of rebar corrosion on earthquake response of the frame.

This paper shows the types of deteriorated hiking trails and degrading factors at three Great Walks such as Tongariro Alpine Crossing, Routeburn Track and Kepler Track in New Zealand. The deteriorated trails could be classified into gullying, widening, narrowing, branching and sidewall erosion. Department of Conservation carefully manages overland flows on trails for preventing surface erosion, thus the Great Walks show only a minor problem of gully on trails which is usually active in a mountainous area. Widening and branching of trails caused by tread erosion are not also developed due to the restriction of visitors as well as the management of rainwash. However, despite the detailed maintenance and prevention of an overuse of trails, some trails traversing steep slopes in a alpine zone under a periglacial environment are severely degraded along their sidewalls. It suggests that a unvegetated sidewall of trails has to be strictly managed in an early stage of occurrence and a slope-traversing section should be selected with more consideration when establishing a route of hiking trails.
Major statutory nature protection areas include Nature Parks, Nature Reserves. Nature Ecological System Protected Areas. Biosphere Reserves, Nature Protected Forests, Wildlife Sanctuaries, and Protection Forests with total area of 1,124,000 ha. These protected areas cover almost 18% of the forested area. The number of visitors of NPs reached over 33 million per year with sharp increasing rate over the years. To protect the deteriorated hiking trails and camp grounds caused by overuse, two management policies have been implemented : cooking prohibition and natural rest rotation system. While prohibition of cooking is based on the fact that most of the solid wastes in nature parks are leftovers of cooking, natural rest rotation system is mainly for rehabilitation of deteriorated areas by natural processes. The system has closed 47 trails(in 27 mountains) throughout the country since January 1991, which is scheduled to continue 3 years. Due to the lack of accumulated scientific knowledge on how, when and where to close, application of the system leaves much to be desired. This paper discusses the current efforts to protect the natural resources for recreational use and suggests future directions for an effective policy implementation.

In September 2007, the collapses of slopes and landslides are happened at Jeonlanamdo due to heavy rains accompanied with Typoon "Nari". The study area is the tunnel portal slope in new road construction site. This slope consists of pyroclastic rocks and has lots of faults. Particularly, the residual soils of the slope is deteriorated with yellowish mudstone layer as a results of chemical and physical weathering. This has a variety of swelling clay minerals and might be moved easily down at the gentle terrain. The inner factor of $\bigcirc\bigcirc$tunnel portal slope's collapse is the geological weak zone, the convergent topography, the inferiority of drainage and the heavy rain act on the failure as direct trigger.

The purpose of this work is to introduce some fundamental stereological concepts to quantify damage parameters using X-ray CT(Computed Tomography) in the scope of CDM(Continuum Damage Mechanics). X-ray CT is a completely nondestructive technique for visualizing features in the interior of opaque solid objects, and for obtaining digital information on their 3D geometries and properties. Many researchers have introduced lots of damage parameters to model the mechanical behavior of deteriorated materials. Those damage parameters can be represented in many forms such as specific void or crack surfaces, the spacing between cracks, the specific damaged surface area, the specific damaged surface area tensor, the mean solid path among the damaged surfaces and the mean solid path tensor. Despite of many accomplishments in CDM since there is no the systematic experiment, it have limitations in application. In this situation, X-ray computed tomography is highlited by many researchers and applied in a wide range of materials including rock, bone, ceramic, metal, soft tissue and concrete.
This study is about the improvement of housing environment through the research and analysis on how district-level roads are used and what the residents want about housing environment. The results are as follows: 1. As a result of the research on space usage, we could get the conclusion that street furniture occupies much space in the district-level roads, and the main causes of the space usage problems are from cars. 2. Because much space is used for parking, the district-level roads supposed to be the place for the pleasant and safe housing is changing into the main cause of the housing problems. Therefore we should find how to prevent the housing environment from being deteriorated through pridicting the traffic generation of future residential area. 3. Most residents park their cars near their houses in the district-level roads. In order to solve this problem, we have to secure the parking space and guarantee the safe traffic by designing the road space efficiently in spite of the inconvenience.
For urban development, natural covering area such as urban green or river is more rapidly reducing than artificial surface covering area like concrete or asphalt, so thermal environment in a city is being drastically deteriorated. Recently, since people recognize the importance of parks or rivers in a city which play roles as an environmental buffer in it, many studies and policies consider how to improve the life quality of citizens and urban environment. This study aims to examine the status of thermal environment variation in the parks and rivers of the city which is the subject of this research and provide foundational data for urban environment plans through research on temperature variation rate and temperature controlling effect.

To measure treeing, visual measurement with an optical microscope has been used to explain breakdown mechanism by treeing in materials. The conventional direct visual method of tree deterioration observation is difficult to measure in short time processing, and impossible to analyze the deteriorated area by treeing, direction of tree growth, tree patterns etc. In this paper, we have developed a tree-measuring system using image processing for the tree growth, the area of deterioration, and other progresses of treeing. As experimental result, image processing is an effective alternative to direct visual observation method.
