We report a novel detection technology for glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) that is measured primarily to identify the three-month average plasma glucose concentration. In enzymatic measuring of glycated hemoglobin, the generated hydrogen peroxide was then used as a reducing agent of gold (III) for the synthesis of gold (0). Gold nanoparticles obtained from this novel approach were measured by optical and piezoelectric methods. In optical method, we have developed polymer based film-type sensor cartridge filled with all the reagents for glycated hemoglobin analysis and the cartridge worked very well having the detection limit of 0.53% of glycated hemoglobin. On the other hand, quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensors also have been developed to determine the abilities of surface modified QCM sensors at various levels of the concentration of glycated hemoglobin to bind gold nanoparticles and limit of detection was 0.90%. Finally, despite of relatively lower sensitivities of QCM sensor and film-type optical sensor than well-plate based optical detection, these two sensors were available to measure the glycated hemoglobin level for diabetes patients and normal person.

Background: Butaphosphan (BTP) has recently been introduced into the Korean aquaculture sector as a stressattenuating agent. In this study, a sensitive chemical analytical method was established for the detection of BTP in the olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) tissues. Methods: Utilizing a method employing liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), detection sensitivity, specificity, and precision were satisfactorily established. Temporal changes in the BTP plasma and muscle concentrations were assessed after a single intramuscular injection of BTP (50 and 150 mg/kg) to the olive flounder maintained at 13 ℃ or 22 ℃. Results: High BTP plasma levels were achieved immediately after the injection, and the drug was rapidly eliminated. Additionally, plasma BTP levels were markedly dependent on the elimination rate, which, in turn, seemed dependent on the water temperature, with the drug elimination half-life and mean residence time significantly shorter at 22 ℃ than 13 ℃. Overall, muscle BTP levels were markedly lower than the plasma levels. Notably, muscle levels were not influenced by water temperatures. Muscle BTP concentrations were used to estimate the necessary withdrawal period for drugs used in food fish, with BTP levels maintained far below the possible hazardous limit. Conclusions: In conclusion, the established LC-MS/MS method can be used for BTP residue detection with high sensitivity and reproducibility.

A worm is a malware that propagates quickly from host to host without any human intervention. Need of early worm detection has changed research paradigm from signature based worm detection to the behavioral based detection. To increase effectiveness of proposed solution, in this paper we present mechanism of detection and prevention of worm in distributed fashion. Furthermore, to minimize the worm destruction; upon worm detection we propagate the possible attack aleγt to neighboring nodes in secure and organized manner. Considering worm behavior, our proposed mechanism detects worm cycles and infection chains to detect the sudden change in network performance. And our model neither needs to maintain a huge database of signatures nor needs to have too much computing power, that is why it is very light and simple. So, our proposed scheme is suitable for the ubiquitous environment. Simulation results illustrate better detection and prevention which leads to the reduction of infection rate.

Web attack uses structural, logical and coding error or web application rather than vulnerability to Web server itself. According to the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) published about ten types of the web application vulnerability to show the causes of hacking, the risk of hacking and the severity of damage are well known. The detection ability and response is important to deal with web hacking. Filtering methods like pattern matching and code modification are used for defense but these methods can not detect new types of attacks. Also though the security unit product like IDS or web application firewall can be used, these require a lot of money and efforts to operate and maintain, and security unit product is likely to generate false positive detection. In this research profiling method that attracts the structure of web application and the attributes of input parameters such as types and length is used, and by installing structural database of web application in advance it is possible that the lack of the validation of user input value check and the verification and attack detection is solved through using profiling identifier of database against illegal request. Integral security management system has been used in most institutes. Therefore even if additional unit security product is not applied, attacks against the web application will be able to be detected by showing the model, which the security monitoring log gathering agent of the integral security management system and the function of the detection of web application attack are combined.
The underwater multi-agent technology has many potential for the various activities related to ocean development/conservation in the near future. For example, in such fields as water pollution investigation, aquaculture control, or coral reef research, we feel a growing need for a system that realizes underwater continuous monitoring in the wide rang e. In this case, the target monitoring area will be sliced planar hierarchically toward the depth as monitoring layers, and many AUVs arranged on each layer track the given trajectory and gather various environmental information continuously, with communicating each other in the layer or with other layers. To realize those systems we need to develop AUV multi-agent technologies. So we are now building basic systems for basin experiment for the development of AUV multi-agent behavior. We must experience many situations and problems to be solved for the development of its elemental technologies by using real systems as well as our computer simulations. In this paper we introduce our concept of the experiment in the near future and the hardware/software design of our two types of handy AUVs and ultrasound ranging/communication system for that experiment. One AUV is designed using a 17inches-diameter glass sphere with DOS/V and RT-Linux based subsystems, which is intended to use not only in the basin but also in the calm real sea. The other AUV is designed for the basin experiment using a 7inches-diameter acrylic sphere with low-cost embedded system with SH-2 based subsystems. The basin experiment to verify the basic AUV facilities and ultrasound ranging for position detection was carried out.

Mobile IP was proposed to overcome identity problem of original IP address system caused by mobility of wireless mobile host. To complete its network handoff procedure, it must receive a mobile advertisement broadcasted by mobile agent. Generally, in a mobile IP system, mean time delay, 500ms, in a network handoff procedure is a critical problem of wireless service such as Voip, multimedia streaming. A caching agent caches a latest mobile advertisement, and replays it by receiving solicitation message from a mobile node finishing link layer detection. But, during the procedure of mobile registration, many packets from service provider to the mobile host would be lost and handoff time delay would be increased. In this thesis, we propose an unproved caching agent technique which can forward data packets while handoff procedure, and CoA pool for fast mobile IP registration.

The control system for the efficiency of resource utilization in sensor network environment based on object detection and environmental sensor requires active control function which based on sensor data acquisition and transmission functions and server's data analysis. Using active rule-based mobile agent middleware, this paper proposes a new distributed control framework that reduces the load of central sensor data server in sensor network environment by implementing remote data sensing and Zigbee-based communication with server and data analysis method of server. In addition, we implemented a power-saving system prototype using active rule-based distributed control methods that applied consumer's demand and environmental variables, and verified the validity of the proposed system through experiments and evaluations in the mobile agent middleware environment. The proposed system is a system framework that can efficiently autonomously control distributed objects in the sensor network environment, and it can be applied effectively to the development of demand response service based on optimal power control for the smart power system in the future.
A PCR method has been developed for the pathovar-specific detection of Pseudomonas syringae pv. tagetis, which is the causal agent of bacterial leaf spots and apical chlorosis of several species within the Compositae family. One primer set, PSTF and PSTR, was designed using a genomic locus derived from an amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) fragment produced a 554-bp amplicon from 4 isolates of P. syringae pv. tagetis. In DNA dot-blot analysis with the PCR product as probe, a positive signal was identified in only 4 isolates of P. syringae pv. tagetis. These results suggest that this PCR-based assay will be a useful method for the detection and identification of P. syringae pv. tagetis.
Objectives : Coptidis rhizoma (CR) is an oriental medicine that has been used in many traditional prescriptions against diabetes mellitus in Korea for centuries. Our purpose was to determine the protective effect and its action mechanism of CR on the cytotoxicity of pancreatic -cell line (RINm5F cell). Methods : In this experiment, we used methods such as MTT assay for detection of cytotoxicity, DNA fragmentation assay for detection of apoptotic cell death, LDH activity assay for detection of necrotic cell death, and measurement of $DiOC_{6}$ (3) retention for detection of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). Background : Nitric oxide (NO) is believed to playa key role in the process of pancreatic -cell destruction leading to insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). Results : Exposure of RINm5F cells to chemical NO donor such as S-nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine (SNAP) induced cytotoxic events such as DNA fragmentation and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release into medium. However, pretreatment of RINm5F cells with CR extract ($10~50{\mu\textrm{g}}/ml$) for 3 hours prevented SNAP-induced DNA fragmentation and LDH release into medium through the inhibition of MMP disruption. Conclusions : These results suggest that CR may be a candidate for a therapeutic or preventing agent against IDDM.
This study was carried out to develop bioassay for detection of pesticide residues in agricultural products by using the soil microbial isolates sensitive to pesticides. One hundred bacterial isolates and eighty five fungal isolates were obtained from soil and their sensitivity to 10 ppm of several pesticides was examined in vitro. Five bacterial isolates and three fungal isolates were found sensitive to organochloride fungicide and two fungal isolates sensitive to organocopper fungicide. Among these isolates, B46, B93 and F67 were tested to find out the difference in sensitivity according to the methods of fungicide treatment. All of the isolates were found sensitive to 10 ppm of organochloride fungicides mixed directly in PDA. But they were found insensitive to the fungicide mixed in PDA after filtering through membrane filter. In case of organocopper fungicide, the isolates were found sensitive only when it was treated in PDA. And their sensitivity showed difference among various kinds of organochloride fungicides. B46 and B93 were employed to check the possibility as the agent for detection of the pesticidal residues in twenty eight agricultural products including rice. It was found that all samples had not residues because the samples did not inhibit the growth of isolates. When organochloride fungicides were applied to the above products, it was possible to detect the residues in fruits and vegetables at the concentration of 10 ppm, but not in starch-rich grains. B46 and B93 were identified as Bacillus sp. according to their bacterial characteristics in culture.
