In order to achieve timely and accurate fault detection of plasma etching process, neural network based time series modeling has been applied to reactive ion etching (RIE) using two different in-situ plasma-monitoring sensors called optical emission spectroscopy (OES) and residual gas analyzer (RGA). Four different subsystems of RIE (such as RF power, chamber pressure, and two gas flows) were considered as potential sources of fault, and multiple degrees of faults were tested. OES and RGA data were simultaneously collected while the etching of benzocyclobutene (BCB) in a $SF_6/O_2$ plasma was taking place. To simulate established TSNNs as incipient fault detectors, each TSNN was trained to learn the parameters at t, t+T, ... , and t+4T. This prediction scheme could effectively compensate run-time-delay (RTD) caused by data preprocessing and computation. Satisfying results are presented in this paper, and it turned out that OES is more sensitive to RF power and RGA is to chamber pressure and gas flows. Therefore, the combination of these two sensors is recommended for better fault detection, and they show a potential to the applications of not only incipient fault detection but also incipient real-time diagnosis.

Objective To investigate differences in plantar pressure distribution between a normal gait and unpredictable slip events to predict the initiation of the slipping process. Methods Eleven male participants were enrolled. Subjects walked onto a wooden tile, and two layers of oily vinyl sheet were placed on the expected spot of the 4th step to induce a slip. An insole pressure-measuring system was used to monitor plantar pressure distribution. This system measured plantar pressure in four regions (the toes, metatarsal head, arch, and heel) for three events: the step during normal gait; the recovered step, when the subject recovered from a slip; and the uncorrected, harmful slipped step. Four variables were analyzed: peak pressure (PP), contact time (CT), the pressure-time integral (PTI), and the instant of peak pressure (IPP). Results The plantar pressure pattern in the heel was unique, as compared with other parts of the sole. In the heel, PP, CT, and PTI values were high in slipped and recovered steps compared with normal steps. The IPP differed markedly among the three steps. The IPPs in the heel for the three events were, in descending order (from latest to earliest), slipped, recovered, and normal steps, whereas in the other regions the order was normal, recovered, and slipped steps. Finally, the metatarsal head-to-heel IPP ratios for the normal, recovered, and slipped steps were $6.1{\pm}2.9$, $3.1{\pm}3.0$, and $2.2{\pm}2.5$, respectively. Conclusion A distinctive plantar pressure pattern in the heel might be useful for early detection of a slip event to prevent slip-related injuries.
In this paper, we developed a radial pulse transducer that has strain-gauge cantilever type load cell for total pulse detection on chongu arterial. The transducer consist of load cell and driving electronic circuits. Load cell consist of cantilever and two metal film strain gauge. The Pressure signal from chongu artery is delivered to load cell using artery rider that attached to cantilever Therefore the pressure signal convert to voltage signals by the developed transducer As the results of experiment, the developed transducer has very good linearity at pressure to voltage conversion. The total pulse detection transducer can detected three kinds of chongu artery pulse with conveniently.

The impact of leakage was incorporated into the transfer functions of the complex head and discharge. The impedance transfer functions for the various leaking pipeline systems were also derived. Hydraulic transients could be efficiently analyzed by the developed method. The simulation of normalized pressure variation using the method of characteristics and the impulse response method shows good agreement to the condition of turbulent flow. The leak calibration could be performed by incorporation of the impulse response method with Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Harmony Search (HS). The objective functions for the leakage detection can be made using the pressure-head response at the valve, or the pressure-head or the flow response at a certain point of the pipeline located upstream from the valve. The proposed method is not constrained by the Courant number to control the numerical dissipation of the method of characteristics. The limitations associated with the discreteness of the pipeline system in the inverse transient analysis can be neglected in the proposed method.
This paper describes the algorithm development of a new body pressure detection sensor for occupant classification system. U.S. Government has required that advanced airbag system should be installed to every automobiles after 2006 according to FMVSS 208 regulation. Therefore, Occupant Classification System should be provided the passenger with safety in order to protect the infants or children that sit in the front passenger seat. When an occupant sits on the chair of the vehicle, deployment of the airbag depends on passenger's weigh distribution and postures. Authors have been developed a new pattern recognition of passenger and weight distribution at the same time by Force Sensing Resistor for the safety.
Water network partitioning (WNP) is an initiative technique to divide the original water distribution network (WDN) into several sub-networks with only sparse connections between them called, District Metered Areas (DMAs). Operating and managing (O&M) WDN through DMAs is bringing many advantages, such as quantification and detection of water leakage, uniform pressure management, isolation from chemical contamination. The research of WNP recently has been highlighted by applying different methods for dividing a network into a specified number of DMAs. However, it is an open question on how to determine the optimal number of DMAs for a given network. In this study, we present a method to divide an original WDN into DMAs (called Clustering) based on community structure algorithm for auto-creation of suitable DMAs. To that aim, many hydraulic properties are taken into consideration to form the appropriate DMAs, in which each DMA is controlled as uniform as possible in terms of pressure, elevation, and water demand. In a second phase, called Sectorization, the flow meters and control valves are optimally placed to divide the DMAs, while minimizing the pressure reduction. To comprehensively evaluate the WNP performance and determine optimal number of DMAs for given WDN, we apply the framework of multiple-criteria decision analysis. The proposed method is demonstrated using a real-life benchmark network and obtained permissible results. The approach is a decision-support scheme for water utilities to make optimal decisions when designing the DMAs of their WDNs.
This paper described the characteristics of the exhaust pressure and proposed the assistant device for detection of misfired cylinder. Misfire, one of abnormal combustion, affects a bad influence of the 3-way catalyst and emits unburned hydrocarbon. Therefore, to prevent these unusual phenomena and eliminate the factor of the environmental pollution, early detection and correction of the misfired cylinder play a very important role. The configuration of assistant device was changed by length and diameter of pipe and analyzed with the install position on the exhaust system. Experimental results showed that the configuration of assistant device is not affected more than length and diameter of pipe and the assistant device is be effective in the detection of misfired cylinder on the gasoline engine.
Knock and misfire, kinds of abnormal combustion, are highly undesirable effect on the internal combustion engine. So, it is important to detect these avnormal combuition and control the ignition timing etc. to avoid these mal-effect factors in real engine system. In this study, the system which detects the knock and the misfire using by spark plug is presented. This system is based on the effect of modulation breakdown voltage(BDV) between the spark gaps. The voltage drop between spark plug electrodes, when an electrical breakdown is initiated, depends on the temperature and pressure in combustion chamber. So, we can detect knock and misfire that produce changes in gas temperature and pressure (consequently, its density) using by BDV signal change which carries information about the character of combustion.
As leakage in nuclear power plants could cause a variety of problems, it is very critical to monitor leakage from the safety point of view. Accordingly, a new type of leak detection system is currently being developed and flow characteristics of the sampling and transportation system are investigated by using numerical analysis as a part of the development process in this study. The results showed that the steam mass fraction varied according to the effect of the gap between the insulation and piping component, transportation velocity, and material properties of porous media during the sampling and transportation process. The results of this study should be useful for understanding flow characteristics of the sampling and transportation system and its design and application.
