The purpose of this study is to understand what Le Corbuiser has intended on a panoramic landscape view through his modern architectural design. This paper is willing to improve that he considered both natural and local landscape scenery, when he designed architecture with drawing images. He designed various ways to see outside scenery and community culture through ribbon windows, piloti, architectural promenade, picture frame, and rooftop garden as the angle of view inside the building, 'designed landscape panorama' from his architecture. Therefore the contents of the study include the analysis of the local landscapes shown through his architecture by photograph, drawing of a real scenery, and his sketches with biology to find what he has intended. The following conclusions have three points. First, Le Corbuiser has a basic idea to bear a natural and local scenery from his architecture through five points of new architecture. Second, pilotis, ribbon windows, and roof garden with picture frame and architectural promenade are pathways of his architecture to see 'designed landscape panorama'. Third, it comes from his early architecture like Villa Savoye in 1920s to Couvent de Sainte Marie de la Tourette in 1950s, but Ronchamp church converts his idea on previous thoughts.

This study is an architectural and landscaping analysis view to rural landscape paintings painted by Vincent van Gogh in the late 19th century. The purpose of this research is to discover the expressive techniques of Western art that Van Gogh's landscape paintings have, and to understand the characteristics of the architectural object in his landscape paintings from February 1888 to April 1889 in Arles, southern France. The method of this study is to analyze the landscape paintings of Van Gogh painted during 15 months in Arles. Among the total paintings in Arles, 47% of the paintings he made were landscapes. The following conclusions have three views. First, Vincent van Gogh was born into a Protestant family in the Netherlands and become an artist in his late twenties. While living in Arles, he painted prolific landscapes. Farming, farmers, and rural area related to normal living are the main subjects of paintings. It can be seen as showing the view that everyday life is sublime and should be included as a unitary value. Second, Gogh's rural landscape paintings were painted with linear and aerial perspective with other the expressive techniques, and plane painting structure that leads to two dimension. Third, from an architectural point of view, Van Gogh's paintings depicted simple vernacular architecture such as traditional rural house, mas, thatched houses, and mills in southern France. This means the normal value of the rural landscape through the eyes of the painter.

This study is designed to examine characteristics and types of basic landscape design established by 7 local governments in Jeollanam-do and its availability as the index of landscape administration and present a guideline with view landscape plan of local governments. The results of this study are described below. In case of view landscape, while Korean cities have not many historical assets like landmark, they have locational characteristics with mountain or coast in the center or surroundings of downtown. Therefore, since view landscape has many cases of restricting individual property rights as well as having a value as public property of city which makes recognition of sharing city, it is very sensitive problem and establishing guideline of it is needed. But, it was found that view landscape plan of local governments established location of view spot with the nature of relief viewing downtown or coast from high spot. Selection of viewing objects in view plan require deciding an object as the public property of city and big cities require selection from the zone and small cities must select 1~2 spots from the viewpoint of whole downtown. 3~4 view spots of middle and distant views which makes city community centering around the subject of view must be selected through enough discussion and in case of natural landscape, View shaft or visible rays require setting of range that 30% of viewing objects is seen. View spot or viewing objects should be selected over twice as extra spots through public hearing and civil participation as the process.

As a study on a traditional garden with historical value, the objective of this study is to comprehensively understand the internal meanings of the garden in a designer's personal perspective. Tasanchodangwon was designed Chung Yakyong who is a scholar of Practical Learning in late Chosun Dynasty. Considering the features of him and basic approach of this study, the internal eanings of the Tasanchodangwon was approached with the focus on the view of nature of him, and through general review of physical components of the garden. Additionally the meanings of the garden were also reviewed in his personal situation. The result of the study may be summarized as followings. First, according to the view of nature of Chung Yakyong, his intention to enrich life practically by building separate structures for education for his residence, creating lake by having water supply, and creating vegetable garden relates with the view of nature in Primary confucianistic perspective. In addition, the place served as a ground to support Chung Yakyong's attitude to become a man of virtue, Second, his preference to enjoyu tea culture allowed an opportunity for him to accept circumstance positively and discover the self. Components related to farming reflects his Practical Learning. The man-made rock mountain in the pond is a specific technique for Yi-Jing. And third, literatures authored by Chung Yakyong show that internal meaning of Tasanchodangwon is to pursue an utopia. This is closely related to solving his conflicts felt in reality. In short, Tasanchodangwon is a form reflecting the spiritual world of Chung Yakyong, and through interaction with his life, served as a ground to culture his mind.

The goal of this study is to recreate the identification of landscape image through the Agricultural Architecture in rural area. Most of them are not kept with houses in traditional village and the other structures in garden area of Korea, because they are located in the isolated field or placed near along the local street, are designed as a very heavily designed building, and are covered by different materials and color against village architecture. I researched cattle barns in both Korea and Germany of what they have had images in a distance-view points of local area, so that I might find a suitable image of Barn Architecture with topography of rural areas. I surveyed rural agricultural buildings with different point of views on landscape structure, architectural form and materials, and conditions animal welfare. There are three results from this paper as follows: First, the placement of animal barn in garden area is isolated to village so that it may keep a clean environment of village, which it makes non appropriate to land using and village view. Second, the architectural form makes a different image to the village building, because it has an oversize against houses in village or has no rhythm and dividing form of simple gable barm. Third, the barn architecture is better to consider of eco-friendly materials with animal welfare concept design, when it starts to design the barn in the field.

The judgement of how good a memorial park is designed in terms of representing symbolic meanings through moonument depends on whether it decisively reflects peoples' common value and affection to specific event or place of the park. It is in fact, not easy to define the kind of value and affections peoples have in mind for the park. It is likely that most park design concepts are primarily based on designer' subjective view of the world by which the public is expected to understand, accept, and eventually share the common symbolic meanings of the park. AS memorial park design as the works of art might be appreciated not only in view of artistic performance of designer but in terms of its social meaning of the newly defined space. Two cases of park designs by author include issues on conceptual alternatives, experience of memorial space, symbolic use of materials, and perspectives on the direction of contemporary park design. It is noteworthy that authentic approaches should be challenged for a new way in which symbolic meanings could be given in rather contradictory style.
This research has a significant meaning to break from the urban ecology-oriented biotope research and realize the importance of rural landscape as a reserve area for systemizing the types of rural biotope. The results are as follows. First of all, items for classification of 16 rural biotope areas are designed and total 9 itmes in slope from spatial structural point of view and 7 items in minute-variety from functional point of view. Also, as the result of on-site research on case areas based on classified items, there are 46 types of rural biotope such as coniferous forest, hedgerow and so on. For example, it is proven that uncultivated stripe showed the most frequent emergence. As a result of cluster analysis of average linkage method between clusters, 12 clusters are classified as a clusters and 13 biotope types are re-corrected and complemented through brainstorming process and then total 12 clusters are selected as final rural biotope type groups. As a rural biotope type cluster and character analysis according to types based on on-site research and documentary survey, for example, it is analyzed that the ratio of transmissible covering ratio is 100%, the ratio of green coverage is 90% in 'woodland in cultivated area biotope type cluster'.

The purpose of this study is to form a night-view at a university to satisfy users through case studies of four representative university campuses with analyzing the lighting conditions and facility satisfaction. The result of this study is following. From the present lighting status, there are 664(l9types) lightings at Kyunghee University, 350(17types) at Sungkyunkwan University and 437(l9types) at Ajou University. Main materials of the lightings are metal, iron and stainless. Moreover, most illuminants are white-colored metal-halide lamp. There is no specially designed lighting facility because ready-made goods were used. Furthermore, the locations of lightings are not suitable so some are useless. Most main spatial illuminations are not satisfying outdoor standard, so it can be concluded that the designs of present campuses are not carrying on with-out plans. From the result, present campus lighting does not satisfy the desire of users in aesthetic and functional point of view but consider the luminosity. However, even though the luminosity does not standardize the law. It is because the design does not reflect a suitable standard with desire of users and it does not have a long term plan. Moreover, the campus design has no study about development plan even though it has enough green area which has a potential possibility to overcome the lack of green areas in a city. Therefore, it is needed to design a comprehensive campus plan which satisfies the desire of students and residents with considering promotion of excitement and harmony through adjusting luminosity of the lighting facilities and supplying various lighting resources.

The landscape disign of Gamcheon wholesale fish Market was designed around a turnkey base to promote the economy of Busan Metropolitan City, to establish a fishery marketing center and to modernize existing facilities. The objectives of the project were to promote the mood of an old market, while preserving its functions and efficiency as a market, to design outdoor spaces with natural resources and amenities in balance, and to create attractive tourist spots in connection with the wide area development plan. The project was oriented, fast, to enhance the functions of the market. For this purpose, a multi-dimensional space layout was designed in consideration of functions as a wholesale market. The safety of pedestrians was secured by separating lathes for vehicles and for pedestrians. Tree planting with various functions such as sheltering, wind breaking and guiding was planned. Secondly, nature-friendly and human-friendly landscaping design was attempted. For this, the beautiful natural resources of Amnam Park were utilized, and green spaces such as green bridges linking buildings in the wholesale market, and rooftop gardens were to be arranged. In addition, environment-friendly facilities such as roads paved with natural materials(i.e. gravel, shells) and program parking lots were to be planned. Thirdly, landscape design was considered to create attractive tourist spots. For example, a fish farm was created as a theme street for pedestrians and various water-friendly spaces such as pedestrian ramps, observatories and seaside streets were to be secured. The main contents are as follows. First, a green bridge to Ahnnam Park was introduced for a tour source and flower garden, an event plan and viewing deck open to the sea were planned on the bridge's axis. Secondly, for the effective land use plan concerning open space and convenience to visitors, a promenade was planned, which is connected with the theme plaza and small plazas by environmental sculptures in front of the market hall and at the gate. As well, an observatory and a roof garden help create three dimensional multi leveled space, with a good view of the natural landscape of the sea, sky and park Thirdly, landscape materials, such as trees and those for facilities, strengthened for protection against the seawind and salt damage were selected. The commercial market area was intended to be transformed a traditional functional area of efficiency and economy into an attractive marine leisure area where both tourists and neighbors can make use of it.

During the landscape design process, landscape architects produce various forms of drawings to visualize the future designed landscape. This work thoroughly examines the process of the utilization of James Corner's theory and practice of representation. Since the early 1990s, Corner has explored the characteristics and functions of landscape architectural drawing theoretically. Specifically, Corner argued that the use of visual representation makes it difficult to achieve the full embodiment of all of the multisensory characteristics of a landscape. Thus, he explored new drawing techniques that alternatively visualize the landscape and generate creative ideas(i.e., imagination of drawing), rather than a realistic illustration of not-yet-actualized landscapes(i.e., instrumentality of drawing). Corner's theory has evolved throughout the mid and late-1990s as applied to landscape practice. Corner embraced ecology and implemented the theory and practice of Landscape Urbanism, thereby once again emphasizing the instrumentality of drawing. Whereas the early theory mainly explored a perspective view using collage and montage, Corner later began to stress the importance of the instrumentality again. For example, Corner employed a mapping technique based on the instrumental map and that simultaneously creatively transforms it. Corner's theory and practice of representation fully explored the identity of landscape architectural drawings and reflected the interaction between theory and practice. Thus, his design and theoretical works continue to have significant influence on present landscape practice and theory.
