  • In this paper, we propose an output feedback controller for a chain of integrators system compensating measurement noise of feedback sensor. Measurement noise makes feedback signals distorted, and results in performance degradation or even system failure. Therefore, we need to design a robust controller to accommodate the possible measurement noise in the feedback information. Our controller is equipped with a gain-scaling factor to reject or minimize the effect of measurement noise in output feedback information. We give a theoretical analysis of the controlled system and illustrate the improved control performance via an example.

  • The user increases around the WiBro and in which the mobile broad band service is the wireless internet base technology HSDPA, that is the cellular phone foundation technique, and moreover the issue about the user effective quality guarantee emerges but the quality control of the wireless network is the incomplete actual condition. Therefore, the reliability verification according to the development of the system for the performance measure for the continued wireless data service and it and evaluation are needed for the quality control. In this paper, the wireless data service quality measurement system was implemented with the design. The same test environment as the existing network performance measurement program was built for the reliability verification of the embodied device for measuring quality and evaluation and the cost performance was performed. It could confirm that design and embodied wireless data service quality measurement system operated accurately in this paper through the quality measure result value analysis.

Study on the Compensation of Strain Measurement Error in Sheet Metals (박판 변형률 측정 오차의 보정에 관한 연구)

  • In the sheet metal forming operations, the strain measurement of sheet panel is an essential work which provides the formability information needed in die design, process design, and product inspection. To measure efficiently complex geometry strains, the 3-dimensional automative strain measurement system, which theoretically has a high accuracy but practically has about 3~5% strain error, is often used. For eliminating the strain error resulted in measuring the strains of formed panels using an automated strain measurement system, the position error calibration method is suggested, which computes accurate strains using the grids with accurate nodal coordinates. The accurate nodal coordinates are calculated by adding the nodal coordinates measured by the measurement system and the position error found using the multiple regression method as a function of the main error parameters obtained from the analysis of strain error in a standard cube. For the verification, the strain distributions of square and dome cups obtained from the position error calibration method are compared with those provided by the finite element analysis and ASAME.

  • The objective of this study was to develop a computer measurement and control system which enable it possible to manage the natural air rough rice drying and storage properly and safely. The following contents of work were taken in this study in order to fulfill the above goal: 1) Design and construction of measurement system which can measure the rough rice drying conditions automatically and transfer them to computer system for data processing. 2) Development of a management software which can determine the need of fan operation by the analysis of drying and/or storage conditions. 3) Design and construction of a control system which deliver the computer decision of fan operation and make it on and off. 4) Technical and economical analysis of the computer measurement and control system development by the comparison experiments of the computer management and of the manual.

  • In this report, as the active position measurement system, a new method for two-dimensional position measurement system using a concept of semi-open type signal field has proposed. The feature of this system is realizing a position measurement only by scanning the encoded laser beams from scanning points to a measurement field, and observed it. First, both system configuration and encoding method are considered concretely, and M-sequence signal is selected for encoding. Next system design is performed to realize the theoretical measurement accuracy, and applied to a position measurement experiments.   • This paper proposes the development of a new method for online analysis which measured acid concentration in a pickling line. Pickling is the most important step to remove surface scale layers and is strongly depending on the exactly controlled pickling liquor composition. Today, there is no feasible system available for the online control of pickling lines. Within this paper, new methods for online analysis of pickling liquors have been tested and implemented into an overall pickling process control tool. This method measured simultaneously the hydrochloric acid and iron ion concentration in a solution of hydrochloric acid by measuring the ultrasonic speed, the solution temperature, and the electrical conductivity. Experimental results showed excellent precision and the measurement error was ${\pm}2g/l$ compared with the neutralization titration measurement.

  • The present study contributes reviewing and suggesting various models for measurement system analysis (MSA). Measurement errors consist of accuracy, linearity, stability, part precision, repeatability and reproducibility (R&R). First, the major content presents split-plot design, and the combination method of crossed and nested design for obtaining gage R&R. Second, we propose $\bar{x}-s$ variable control chart for calculating the gage R&R and number of distinct category. Lastly, investigating the determination of gage performance curve which establishes the control specification propagating calibration uncertainties and measurement errors is described.

  • A novel method of dimensional measurement using machine vision, which is called Landmark Tracking System, has been developed. Its advantages come form tracking only the bright, standard shaped "landmarks" which are made from retroreflective sheets. In the design of the LTS, it is essential to know the relationship between optical parameters and their influence on system performance. Such optical parameters include the brightness of landmark image, the illumination system design, and the choice of imaging optics. And the performance of retroreflective material also plays important role in the LTS performances. Influences of such optical parameters on LTS's dimensional measurement characteristics are investigated, with respect to the retroreflective material, the imaging optics, and the illumination system. Measuremtn errors due to parameter variations are also analyzed. Experiments are performed with a LTS prototype. Retroreflective characteristics are verified, and the LTS's measurement performances are measured in the form of repeatability and accuracy. Experimental results shgow that the LTS has repeatability better than 1/30,000 of a field of view(30 degrees), and accuracy better tha 1/3,000 of a field fo view.d fo view.

The Design and Implementation of Mouse Activity Measurement System using Infrared Sensor

  • In this paper, we design and implement a mouse movement measurement system using an infrared sensor called MAMS (Mouse Activity Measurement System). Unlike existing systems, MAMS can measure movements between IREDs. MAMS is removable allowing convenient portability and is also low cost. MAMS automatically measures mouse activity during a pre-set time interval. Since the measured data can be easily stored in a computer system, it is much simpler and more efficient than the Ugo 47420 model. Moreover, MAMS can be used in medical and veterinary field to eliminate manual observations.

Measurement of Focal Length for Off-axis Optical Systems

  • An off-axis system refers to an optical system in which the optical axis and normal vector at the vertex of each surface do not match. The most important specification in an optical system is its focal length. Among the various methods for measuring the focal length, the most suitable method for the off-axis system is the method that adopts magnification. However, head-mounted display (HMD) optics must be measured while considering the virtual image distance, which is not infinity owing to product characteristics. For the virtual image distance, a camera with a focusing function was used. By measuring HMD optics via this magnification method, the error generated in this measurement was 0.68% of the HMD's focal length, which is within the 1%-3% range of the conventionally permitted design error for the focal length allowed at the optical design stage. Therefore, it can be verified that the measurement accuracy of the method proposed in this study is sufficiently feasible in practice.
