전방시현기 및 다기능시현기 구동을 위한 그래픽 영상생성기 설계 연구 (Design of Graphic Generator for Driving HUD(Head-Up Display) and MFD(Multi-Function Display))

  • This paper presents the design technology of a Graphic Generator which drives the embedded aircraft display equipments such as HUD(Head-Up Display) and MFD (Multi-Function Display) those provide pilot with the most important mission information. The main issue of this design is how we can implement the real-time embedded graphic generator using a general purpose processor as a substitute for the obsolete the production of specific graphic processor in the military market. So we proposed two kinds of method that one is a software solution so called graphic kernel system, interpreting the display file, controlling the graphic system and pre-processing graphic primitives, the other is a hardware solution so called graphic engine, interpreting passed commands through the graphic kernel system, post-processing the looping calculation taking much of time as implemented by software. We have tested and verified the functionalities and the required performance of Graphic Generator.

화력용 발전기 회전자 및 리테인 링의 응력해석 및 수명평가 (Stress Analysis and Life Evaluation of Rotor and Retaining Ring of Generator for fossil power plant)

  • This paper represents that parts of a large generator operating in 1000 MW are affected by centrifugal forces due to high-speed rotation in 3600 rpm and 3D FEM Analyses are required to obtained the structural reliability of the generator. From these results, one would know the weakest locations and the stress distributions. The fatigue life is calculated in order to grasp the remaining life of generator. 2D and 3D analyses are performed to calculate stresses of the generator rotor and the retaining ring. From 2D results, we find the SCF at the slot and sub-slot of the rotor. 3D analysis is applied at the end part of generator rotor, which represents complex geometry, and rotor and retaining ring shrink thermally. With these results, designers of rotor and retaining ring can compare with the results of design code and verify the stress distributions of generator rotor and retaining ring, and then calculate the remaining life from the low-cycle fatigue data.

Free-Piston 엔진용 평판형 선형 발전기를 이용한 기동모드 해석 (Starting Mode Analysis of Flat-type Linear Generator for Free-Piston Engine)

  • Free-piston engine system is a new type energy converter which uses a linear motion of piston by using linear generator. In free-piston engine system, the piston is not connected to a crank-shaft. The major advantages of free-piston engine system are high efficiency and low mechanical loss from the absence of motion conversion devices. Linear generator of free-piston engine system is used as generator and starting motor. In design step, considering of back-emf and detent force characteristics for generating mode and thrust and control characteristics for starting mode is needed. In this research, generating mode of flat-type linear generator and tubular-type linear generator is analyzed by finite element analysis method and starting mode of both type linear generators is analyzed by using capability curve. Capability curve is plotted from electrical parameters of both type linear generator and motion profile is calculated from mechanical parameters.

  • This paper presents results of the development of the Turbo-generator system with structure which is HSG(High Speed Generator) installed to high speed gas-turbine engine directly. Turbo-generator with high speed motor-generator directly has many advantages aspects of weight, size, lubrication system and complexity of the system compared of conventional turbo-generator system with gear-box. But because of direct high speed operation of the high speed generator, we have to need stable high speed motor driving algorithm for perfect engine ignition when gas turbine starting. Also we have to need design of the PCU(Power Conditioning Unit) for converting high speed AC output power to conventional AC power or needed DC power.

  • The mechanical integrity of generator stator windings is one of the critical point because the electric power is generated and conducted to power system through these windings. To cool down the heat emitted from generator winding during its operation, a majority of generators use de-mineralized water characterized by high cooling efficiency. Contrary to such the excellent cooling efficiency, however, the damaged bar insulations attributed to the absorption of cooling water in the generator stator winding lead to highly time- and cost consuming efforts as well as to service deterioration due to unexpected forced outage of generator. It is described that the new design of water absorption sensor using cross capacitance for generator in power plant in order to increase the reliability of water absorption diagnostics for generator stator bar insulation.

Design of Trajectory Generator for Performance Evaluation of Navigation Systems

  • In order to develop navigation systems, simulators that provide navigation sensors data are required. A trajectory generator that simulates vehicle motion is needed to generate navigation sensors data in the simulator. In this paper, a trajectory generator for evaluating navigation system performance is proposed. The proposed trajectory generator consists of two parts. The first part obtains parameters from the motion scenario file whereas the second part generates position, velocity, and attitude from the parameters. In the proposed trajectory generator six degrees of freedom, halt, climb, turn, accel turn, spiral, combined, and waypoint motions are given as basic motions with parameters. These motions can be combined to generate complex trajectories of the vehicle. Maximum acceleration and jerk for linear motion and maximum angular acceleration and velocity for rotational motion are considered to generate trajectories. In order to show the usefulness of the proposed trajectory generator, trajectories were generated from motion scenario files and the results were observed. The results show that the proposed trajectory generator can accurately simulate complex vehicle motions that can be used to evaluate navigation system performance.

  • This paper presents a generator for stand-alone vibration monitoring system of bridge structure based on ambient vibration of bridge. In this paper, a novel electric power generator which has minimum effect of armature reaction is proposed. The related mechanical and electrical design equations are obtained and a pilot generator has been implemented. In addition, the charging system for extremely low generator current is discussed, and some improvements are identified for the system. This investigation reveals that diode characteristics of rectifier is dominant factor in the charging process. Finally, both the simulation, which uses real measurement data of the Namhae bridge as input of the pilot generator, and indoor test are carried out. The results showed the applicability and effectiveness of the stand-alone vibration powered generator.

사출성능 개선을 위한 사출용 가스발생기 연구 (Research on the Ejection Gas Generator to Improve Ejecting Performance)

  • 유도탄의 사출성능 중 탄에 충격으로 작용하는 최대가속도의 감소는 유도탄의 비정상작동 방지와 내부 부품들의 크기 및 비용 감소 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 사출용 가스발생기의 작동에 의해 탄에 가해지는 최대가속도가 사출초기에 발생됨을 착안하여 사출초기에 영향을 미치는 설계인자를 조사하였다. 가스발생기 설계인자로 점화기 및 노즐마개를 선정하고, 설계인자 변경을 통해 가스발생기에 의해 발생되는 최대가속도를 실험적으로 조사하였다. 최종적으로 최대가속도 감소효과를 정량적으로 비교하기 위해 가스발생기 지상연소시험을 실시하였다. 그 결과 설계인자의 최적값들이 적용된 개선모델의 경우 기준모델에 비해 최대가속도를 약 68% 줄일 수 있음을 확인하였다.
