This paper presents an area-efficient architecture to implement the high-speed Reed-Solomon(RS) decoder, which is used in a variety of communication systems such as wireless and very high-speed optical communications. We present the new pipelined-recursive Modified Euclidean(PrME) architecture to achieve high-throughput rate and reducing hardware-complexity using folding technique. The proposed pipelined recursive architecture can reduce the hardware complexity about 80$\%$ compared to the conventional systolic-array and fully-parallel architecture. The proposed RS decoder has been designed and implemented with the 0.13um CMOS technology in a supply voltage of 1.2 V. The result show that total number of gate is 393 K and it has a data processing rate of S Gbits/s at clock frequency of 625 MHz. The proposed area-efficient architecture can be readily applied to the next generation FEC devices for high-speed optical communications as well as wireless communications.
The study explores how Korea's major newspaper cover about science news, especially how newspaper frame biotechnology news including new source, news construction ways, coverage trend. The research has a research design to find out coverage pattern or model with frame theory. The result shows that the newspaper has some aspect of frame through out the biotechnology development in the section, theme, source, complexity. The section has been expend to the society and international section, while the theme shift from disease or cancer cure to life itself, genome, or stem cell. In the complexity, the biotechnology news stories have been developed a story plot (event-problem-development-solution). In the climax, the news coverage focuses on the explanation of biotechnology news.

With the increasing demands on high data rate, there has been growing interests in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technology based on spatial multiplexing (SM) since it can transmit independent information in each spatial stream. Recent standards such as 3GPP LTE-advanced and IEEE 802.11ac support up to eight spatial streams, and massive MIMO and mm-wave systems that are expected to be included in beyond 4G systems are considering employment of tens to hundreds of antennas. Since the complexity of the optimum maximum likelihood based detection method increases exponentially with the number of antennas, low-complexity SM MIMO detection becomes more critical as the number of antenna increases. In this paper, we first review the results on the detection schemes for SM MIMO systems. In addition, massive MIMO reception schemes based on simple linear filtering which does not require exponential increment of complexity will be explained, followed by brief description on receiver design for future high dimensional SM MIMO systems.

This paper presents a low-complexity and high-throughput symbol detector for two-spatial-stream multiple-input multiple-output systems based on the modified maximum-likelihood symbol detection algorithm. In the proposed symbol detector, the cost function is calculated incrementally employing a multi-cycle architecture so as to eliminate the complex multiplications for each symbol, and the slicing operations are performed hierarchically according to the range of constellation points by a pipelined architecture. The proposed architecture exhibits low hardware complexity while supporting complicated modulations such as 256 QAM. In addition, various modulations and antenna configurations are supported flexibly by reconfiguring the pipeline for the slicing operation. The proposed symbol detector is implemented with 38.7K logic gates in a $0.11-{\mu}m$ CMOS process and its throughput is 166 Mbps for $2{\times}$3 16-QAM and 80Mbps for $2{\times}3$ 64-QAM where the operating frequency is 478 MHz.
Recently, as WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network) becomes the necessary feature in IoT (Internet of Things) devices, the importance of data security also hugely increases. In this paper, we present the low-complexity 128-bit AES-$CCM^*$ hardware IP for IEEE 802.15.4 standard. For low-cost and low-power implementation which is essentially required in IoT devices, we propose two optimization methods. First, the folded AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) processing core with 8-bit datapath is presented where composite field arithmetic is adopted for reduced hardware complexity. In addition, to support $CCM^*$ mode defined in IEEE 802.15.4, we propose the mode-toggling architecture which requires less hardware resources and processing time. With the proposed methods, the gate count of the proposed AES-$CCM^*$ IP can be lowered up to 57% compared to the conventional architecture.
Many embedded real - lime systems have adopted processors supported with dynamic voltage scal-ing(DVS) recently. Power is one of the important metrics for Optimization in the design and operation of embedded real-time systems. We can save considerable energy by using slowdown of processor sup-ported with DVS. In this paper, we improved the previous algorithm at a point of view of time complexity to calculate task slowdown factors for an efficient energy consumption in embedded real-time systems with task synchronization. We grasped the properties of the previous algorithm having $O(n^{2})$ time complexity through mathematical analysis and s simulation. Using its properties we proposed the improved algorithms with O(nlogn) and O(n) time complexity which have the same performance as the previous algorithm has.
In-band wireless full-duplex is a promising technology that enables a wireless node to transmit and receive at the same time on the same frequency band. Due to the complexity of self-interference cancellation techniques, only base stations (BSs) are expected to be full-duplex capable while user terminals remain as legacy half-duplex nodes in the near future. In this case, two different nodes share a single subchannel, one for uplink and the other for downlink, which causes inter-node interference between them. In this paper, we investigate the joint problem of subchannel assignment and power allocation in a single-cell full-duplex orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) network considering the inter-node interference. Specifically, we consider two different scenarios: i) The BS knows full channel state information (CSI), and ii) the BS obtains limited CSI through channel feedbacks from nodes. In the full CSI scenario, we design sequential resource allocation algorithms which assign subchannels first to uplink nodes and then to downlink nodes or vice versa. In the limited CSI scenario, we identify the overhead for channel measurement and feedback in full-duplex networks. Then we propose a novel resource allocation scheme where downlink nodes estimate inter-node interference with low complexity. Through simulation, we evaluate our approaches for full and limited CSIs under various scenarios and identify full-duplex gains in various practical scenarios.

Purpose: Some of the most representative approaches are to apply next generation technologies to save energy consumption, fully automated control system to appropriately maintain environmental conditions, and autonomous assistance system to reduce labor load and ensure operator's safety. Nevertheless, improvement of upcoming method for soil cultured greenhouse has not been sufficiently achieved. Geometrical complexity of ground in protected crop cultivation might be one of the most dominant factors in design of autonomous vehicle. While there is a practical solution fairly enough to promise an accurate travelling, such as autonomous sprayer guided by rail or induction coil, for various reasons including the limitation of producer's budget, the previously developed sprayer has not been widely distributed to market. Methods: In this study, we developed an autonomous sprayer considering travelling performance on geometrical complexity of ground in soil cultured greenhouse. To maintain a stable travelling and to acquire a real time feedback, common wire with 80 mm thick and body frame and sprayer boom. To evaluate performance of the prototype, tracking performance, climbing performance and spraying boom's uniform leveling performance were individually evaluated by corresponding experimental tests. Results: The autonomous guidance system was proved to be sufficiently suitable for accurate linear traveling with RMS as lower than approximately 10 cm from designated path. Also the prototype could climb $10^{\circ}$ of ground's slope angle with 40 kg of water weight. Uniform leveling of spraying boom was successfully performed within $0.5^{\circ}$ of sprayer boom's slope. Conclusions: Considering more complex pathways and coarse ground conditions, evaluations and improvements of the prototype should be performed for promising reliability to commercialization.
As software technology is in progress and software quantification is getting more important, many metrics have been proposed to quantify a variety of system entities. These metrics can be classified into two different forms : scalar metric and metric vector. Though some recent studies pointed out the composition problem of the scalar metric form, many scalar metrics are successfully used in software development organizations due to their practical applications. In this paper, it is concluded that hybrid metric form weighting external complexity is most suitable for scalar metric form. With this concept, a general framework for hybrid metrics construction independent of the development methodologies and target system type is proposed. This framework was successfully used in two projects that quantify the analysis phase of the structured methodology and the design phase of the object oriented real-time system, respectively. Any organization can quantify system entities in a short time using this framework.

In this paper, we investigate the frequency domain channel estimation for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) single-carrier frequency-division multiple-access (SC-FDMA) systems. In MIMO SC-FDMA, code-division multiplexed (CDM) pilots such as cyclic-shifted Zadoff-Chu sequences have been adopted for channel estimation. However, most frequency domain channel estimation schemes were developed based on frequency-division multiplexing of pilots. We first develop a channel estimation error model by using CDM pilots, and then analyze the mean-square error (MSE) of various minimum MSE (MMSE) frequency domain channel estimation techniques. We show that the cascaded one-dimensional robust MMSE (C1D-RMMSE) technique is complexity-efficient, but it suffers from performance degradation due to the channel correlation mismatch when compared to the two-dimensional MMSE (2D-MMSE) technique. To improve the performance of C1D-RMMSE, we design a robust iterative channel estimation (RITCE) with a frequency replacement (FR) algorithm. After deriving the MSE of iterative channel estimation, we optimize the FR algorithm in terms of the MSE. Then, a low-complexity adaptation method is proposed for practical MIMO SC-FDMA systems, wherein FR is performed according to the reliability of the data estimates. Simulation results show that the proposed RITCE technique effectively improves the performance of C1D-RMMSE, thus providing a better performance-complexity tradeoff than 2D-MMSE.
