  • The dissemination and use of mobile applications have been rapidly expanding these days. And in such a situation, the security of mobile applications has emerged as a new issue. Although the safety of general software such as desktop and enterprise software is systematically achieved from the development phase to the verification phase through secure coding, there have been not sufficient studies on the safety of mobile applications yet. This paper deals with deriving weakness enumeration specialized in mobile applications and implementing a tool that can automatically analyze the derived weakness. Deriving the weakness enumeration can be achieved based on CWE(Common Weakness Enumeration) and CERT(Computer Emergency Response Team) relating to the event-driven method that is generally used in developing mobile applications. The analysis tool uses the dynamic tests to check whether there are specified vulnerabilities in the source code of mobile applications. Moreover, the derived vulnerability could be used as a guidebook for programmers to develop mobile applications.

  • This paper explains the hardware structure of SURF(Speeded Up Robust Feature) based feature point extractor and its FPGA verification result. SURF algorithm produces novel scale- and rotation-invariant feature point and descriptor which can be used for object recognition, creation of panorama image, 3D Image restoration. But the feature point extraction processing takes approximately 7,200msec for VGA-resolution in embedded environment using ARM11(667Mhz) processor and 128Mbytes DDR memory, hence its real-time operation is not guaranteed. We analyzed integral image memory access pattern which is a key component of SURF algorithm to reduce memory access and memory usage to operate in c real-time. We assure feature extraction that using a Vertex-5 FPGA gives 60frame/sec of VGA image at 100Mhz.

  • Together with a new advent of embedded processor developed to support specific application area and it evolution, a new research of software development to support the embedded processor and its commercial challenge has been revitalized. Retargetability is typically achieved by providing target machine information, ADL, as input. The ADLs are used to specify processor and memory architectures and generate software toolkit including compiler, simulator, assembler, profiler, and debugger. The EXPRESSION ADL follows a mixed level approach-it can capture both the structure and behavior supporting a natural specification of the programmable architectures consisting of processor cores, coprocessors, and memories. And it was originally designed to capture processor/memory architectures and generate software toolkit to enable compiler-in-the-loop exploration of SoC architecture. In this paper, we designed the class-based ADL based on the EXPRESSION ADL to promote the write-ability, extensibility and verified the validation of grammar. For this works, we defined 6 core classes and generated the EXPRESSION's compiler and simulator through the MIPS R4000 description.

  • Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) -A/90, which is a standard for terrestrial data transmission in Korea, defines synchronized data that has a strong timing association with a separate Program Element. It is classified as synchronized streaming data that is carried in packetized elementary stream (PES) packets or a synchronized non-streaming data that shall be carried in digital storage media command and control (DSM-CC) section. In this paper, we study the design and verification of synchronized streaming data processing algorithm based on ATSC -A/90. We designed a parser and a player for the algorithm development. The received PES packet including synchronized streaming data is parsed in the parser. The parsed synchronized streaming data is synchronized and displayed by player. Finally, we ascertained that STB was working properly with MPEG-2 transport stream (TS) containing synchronized streaming data, as the proposed algorithm is implemented on a set-top box.

  • Monitoring is the act of collecting and analyzing accurate engineering information using various methods and instruments. The purposes of the monitoring are design verification, construction management, quality control, safety management, and diagnose of structure etc.. The diagnose evaluation of the geotechnical structures corresponds to the confirmation of the structural performance. It is aimed to judge the soundness of geotechnical structures considering the degree of damage due to the environmental change and elapsed time. Recently, microseismicity, which is widely known in Korea, can be used for safety management and diagnoses of structure as it detects the micro-damage without disturbance of the structure. This report provides guideline on the procedure for assessing an underground oil storage cavern using microseismic monitoring techniques. Guidelines cover the selection of monitoring systems, sensor array, sensor installation and operation of systems, and interpretation.

  • PURPOSES : This study has been performed with the objective to determine threshold zone luminance of adaptation luminance by target safety level in a vehicular traffic tunnel with design speed set at 100km/h. METHODS : The study made a miniature capable of portraying changes in luminance distribution within $2{\times}10^{\circ}$ conical field of view of the driver approaching to the tunnel for the test. Test conditions were set based on justifications for CIE 88-1990's threshold zone luminance used as a reference by domestic tunnel light standards (KS C 3703 : 2010). Luminance contrast of object background and object is 23%, object presentation duration is 0.5 seconds, and size of the object background is $7.3{\times}11.5m^2$ RESULTS : Threshold zone luminance was set within adaptation luminance of $100{\sim}3,000cd/m^2$. Adaptation luminance and threshold zone luminance based on 50%, 75% and 90% target safety level all showed a relatively high linear relationship. According to findings in the study, it is not appropriate to specify the relationship between adaptation luminance and threshold zone luminance as luminance ratio. Rather, direct utilization of the linear relationship gained from the study findings appears to be the better solution. CONCLUSIONS : Findings of this study may be used to determine operation of threshold zone luminance based on target safety level. However, a proper verification and validity of test results are required. Furthermore, a study to determine proper threshold zone luminance level considering target safety level reviewed in this study and various decision-making factors such as economic conditions in Korea and energy-related policies should be carried out in addition. Additional tests on adaptation luminance greater than $3,000cd/m^2$ will be performed, through which application scope of the test findings will be broadened.

  • As the use of digital systems becomes more prevalent, adequate techniques for software specification and analysis have become increasingly important in nuclear power plant (NPP) safety-critical systems. Additionally, the importance of software verification and validation (V&V) based on adequate specification has received greater emphasis in view of improving software quality. For thorough V&V of safety-critical systems, V&V should be performed throughout the software lifecycle. However, systematic V&V is difficult as it involves many manual-oriented tasks. Tool support is needed in order to more conveniently perform software V&V. In response, we developed four kinds of computer aided software engineering (CASE) tools to support system specification for a formal-based analysis according to the software lifecycle. In this work, we achieved optimized integration of each tool. The toolset, NuSEE, is an integrated environment for software specification and V&V for PLC based safety-critical systems. In accordance with the software lifecycle, NuSEE consists of NuSISRT for the concept phase, NuSRS for the requirements phase, NuSDS for the design phase and NuSCM for configuration management. It is believed that after further development our integrated environment will be a unique and promising software specification and analysis toolset that will support the entire software lifecycle for the development of PLC based NPP safety-critical systems.

  • The analysis of aerodynamic characteristics for aircraft propellers is studied to develop high efficiency composite propellers. It is to verify the accuracy and reliability of predicting the efficiency characteristics of aircraft propellers by applying nonlinear numerical analysis. The numerical simulation method incorporated the CFD code, which is based on RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stocks) equation. The study includes a comparative analysis between the numerical simulation results and the wind tunnel test results of the full-scale aircraft propeller. The comparison shows that thrust and power coefficients of the propeller calculated by nonlinear numerical analysis are higher than those based on the results generated from the wind tunnel test. The efficiency of the propeller calculated by numerical analysis matches closely to the efficiency based on the wind tunnel test results. The verification results are analyzed, then, will be used in optimizing the design and manufacture of the subject aircraft propeller studied.
