The propose of this study analyze an expression method of a surface in commercial buildings, and it is to show an example of a surface design in Manhattan. In particular, I focus on the following three categories : representation element of surface image : materials and structure method, the property of transparency, and an electronic surface and media screen. Unlike the past era in which surface design in commercial buildings was viewed just as a mean ornament, it has become more important in the presently era because diverse expression technologies in surface design makes architects express there creative ideas. Besides, the diversity of surface design expands the concept of cultural space as it provides various graphic element that human desire for multi-cultures. So diversity of surface will accelerate.

Existing construction industry is composed of several processes with various characteristics. The tendency of current construction industry is getting complicated and diversified; it has limitation to solve problems through existing processes. As a problem-solving method, BIM (Building Information Modeling), environment to manage building life cycle from design and construction to management, is being suggested. Currently, BIM is only focused on technology development by engineers, and the automation of architectural theories is insufficiency except architectural design modeling. Therefore, this research aims to back up theses drawbacks through intellectual curtain wall arrangement by using musical proportions. In order to apply to construction automation, analysised of musical proportions method are performed. The BPMN-based Process Map is listed to develop IDM for the application to BIM Software.

As interest in the environment and sustainability increases, a tendency to pursue eco-design is emerging. Sustainable design coincides with the Korean aesthetic sense of applying the principle of the circulation of nature. This study examined Korean traditional furniture, Bandaji, from the perspective of historical and cultural sustainability and extracted and adopted a sustainability-related motif. The purpose of this study was to develop a creative bag design that reflects Korean tradition and strengthens artistry. First, a bag was produced based on the morphological characteristics of Gyeonggi-do Bandaji. Second, though the original overall design was maintained, the decorative patterns were modified by, for example, increasing the number of ear decorations on the surface of the bag and reducing the number of traps. Third, a new geometric pattern was created for the surface of the bag; this entailed moving the position of the handle-shaped ear ornament and the leather. Fourth, new decorative patterns were drawn on the surface. This study is meaningful in that it presents a sustainable bag production methodology that reflects Korean aesthetics. It also showcases a designer's unique, creative, and artistic bag design. It is expected that design work inspired by Korean formative beauty will be an opportunity to simultaneously utilize and support various Korean cultural assets and artworks.

Currently a large number of high rise building projects are under plan and a mega foundation system to support this high load with safety is requiring. The foundation of a highrise building is displaced by the building load, which influence the behavior of a super structure in reverse. In this aspect, the structural interaction analysis between a foundation and a super structure is necessary. In this study, the relationship of a superstructure of building and a foundation has been reviewed, considering the tendency of design from a capacity driven design to a performance design. Two different case studies have been introduced to help understand this relationship in more specific, the first case is the high rise building founded on a mat system on rock and the second is that on large diameter bored piles on soft ground condition.

The purpose of this study was to investigate compostion factor and special qualities of design about Korean clothing image. The 72 samples were obtained from domestic fashion magazines. The questionnaire, which was composed 23 semantic diffrential bi-polar scales, was distributed to 50 female students majoring in Clothing and Textiles. The data were analyzed through factor analysis, anova, scheffe's test, clust analysis. The results were as follows; 1) Through factor analysis about Korean clothing image, 5 factors were identified; elegance, simplicity, femininity, tradition, looseness. 2) By cluster analysis, 3 clusters were determined according to Korean clothing image. Special qualities of design about Korean clothing image showed that there were lots of H silhouette in clothing form, related harmony in color harmony, somewhat rough and crude in texture and simple design in decoration. Top was more or less fit and bottom was found somewhat exaggerated tendency in fitness. 3) As a result of the visual evaluation about Korean clothing image, there were significant differences in all factors.

Contemporary visual art is characterized by a systematic study of the irrational. This trend was largely a reaction to the rationality of Modernism, which felt out of fair in the post-industrial society. This new trend against Modernism is represented by Deconstructivism. However, the appeal of irrationality has a deeper root. In this article, we examine the historical roots0 of this interest in the irrational. In doing so, we focus tour attention on the effect of Freud's theory of the subconscious on the growth of Surrealism in modern art. In particular, we explore how this same tendency is reflected in modern. floral art & design. By doing so, we are able to relate the developments in floral art & design with the developments in other areas of modern art. Finally, we show that it is possible for floral art & design to be in the vanguard of contemporary art because of its unique characteristics.

The Cases of advanced nations which have advanced welfare policy, they have headed for the deinstitutionalization and the protection of the local society. So they have expanded and improved the various policies and welfare facilities to be able to keep daily life on the base of local area. Many problems have been caused by rising the average life span of the elderly in Korea now. Under the tendency, there have been many alternative proposals to solve the problems. One of those proposals, the deinstitutionalization theory that is rated the ideal way, is the community-based care than the care in facilities for the elderly. It shows that the most ideal facility for the care is Daycare center and that it matters the system of spatial construction and standard of the facilities. Under the undetailed Korean standard of facility design, it is very important that system of spatial construction to correspond to the needs of the users and standard of the facilities are prepared from the point of view of the standard design of the domestic facilities for the elderly. The study of the book grasps the regional present situation of the domestic Daycare center and surveys the tendency of the stay and features of occupation of the user there through some case, and aims to have a thorough grip of the spatial scale by the user's behavior. It is to utilize for a proposal for preparation of the space scale, and an institution standard corresponding to user's needs in a Daycare center.

This study examines the correlation between the characteristics of sustainable slow design, The outcome derived from the pro-environmental consciousness in fashion design, and the trends of modern fashion design. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, slow design for sustainability shows an environmental consciousness and stresses the ethical aspects of fashion design that take into account the wellbeing and sustainable development of human society. It also focuses on the continuos present in which the consistent pace of life endures, rather than pursuing speedy changes of fashion by titillating desire. Second, the five characteristics of slow design have been extracted from the analysis of the examples of fashion industry and other fashion-related areas. They are sustainability, recyclibility, handicraft, naturalness, and simplicity. Third, these characteristics of slow design have much to do with modern fashion genres. For instance, classical style fashions such as Chanel suit and Burberry coat have the same qualities of sustainability, while at the same time the Vintage fashion, which reinterprets the fashions from bygone eras in modern style, has the tendency of recyclibility, and the Hippie style, a resurrection of hand-touch spirit that emerged as a secondhand style expressionism resisting uniform mass production, has not only the quality of handicraft but also recyclibility.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the architectural visual identity, and scheme of conceptional extent of architectural visual identity through literature research and sample analysis by design factors for apartment design. Korea National Housing Corporation's Mapo apartment put first caterer which is continued about 30 years to solve shortage of houses by beginning and the impact of IMF and the price decontrol on second half in the 1990s have changed the housing status to commercial goods. Construction companies have introduced brand concept to satisfy consumer's appetite in production of house goods including apartment under market situation. Importance of visual identity in apartment design occupies has risen in heftily. However most companies are in condition of stay on two-dimensional application that uses symbol, logotype, and character assistance. Several high position construction companies are trying architectural visual identity, but those are applied in partial element and those are not going forward to systematic classification and synthetic visual identity plan within peculiarity of apartment complex. This study is to grasp plan and design tendency to acquire identity of design element of construction field and goods through design examination. In conclusion visual identity in apartment design is architectural visual identity on all of 2 dimensions and 3 dimension for application. Architectural visual identity is a language of form that prescribe identity about external appearance in combination with brand image.

Since 1990s the concern on essence and inside has transferred onto the surface and its style. The longing for plastic surgery and skin beauty might prove this fervent tendency. Furthermore the development of digital media and technology as well as high-tech material enabled this hope to be real in the realm of design. All these progresses and transitions toward the surface introduced more creative and novel phenomena of furniture design arena around its surface. The rising of surface has evolved through architecture, interior design and furniture. The surface of furniture can be easily transposed into the human skin. And it acquires the aspects of skin's metaphoric and symbolic meaning. The characteristics of skin effect in furniture design can be summarized as material aspects, relational aspects, and formal aspects. Material aspects shows skin's elasticity and smooth plane. Relational aspects express the reactive functions of skin. Formal aspects represent organic power through surface.
