The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of crop diversification on farm households' agricultural income. Abundant literature have explored the determinants and efficient strategies for crop diversification. Yet, there is a paucity of research studies that empirically test the effectiveness of crop diversification as a profitable farm management strategy. Utilizing the 2015 Agricultural Census, this study adopts a quasi-experimental research design to compare the outcomes between farm households that opted for crop diversification and farm households that did not engage in such a strategy. In doing so, this study applies the Heckman Selection Model and the decomposition technique to address the problem of selection bias and to identify the causal effect. Our empirical results show that farms that implement diversification are more likely to earn higher agricultural income than non-diversified farms, although the difference would not be much substantial. This study concludes with several policy proposals to stabilize agricultural income in conjunction with crop diversification.
Single households currently account for 26.5% of all households and their number is expected to continue to rise, reaching 34.5% by 2035. An analysis of the consumption trends and needs of single households shows that they are rising as a new consumer group with a focus on investment on the individual and favouring: small but high-tech products: efficient use of limited resources: safety and peace of mind: self-improvement and leisure. Products which meet such demands are having an impact on the growth of home-furnishing market. An analysis of companies in Korea's home-furnishing market, with examples like the lifestyle company IKEA, shows a variety of brands such as SPA brand, furniture specialist, distributor and character products. And yet most are OEM products which lack differentiated product lines and compete with similar display and distribution structure. We needs the Single household consumption tendency of home-furnishing market and differentiation strategy through product analysis. In order to increase the value of companies in the home-furnishing market, in addition to differentiated design, product competitiveness must aspire to higher customer satisfaction with easy assembly, innovation in logistics, innovative sales methods such as virtual-reality simulation for products and space, individually-tailored furniture for the needs of single household and products which combine smart technology. For home-grown home-furnishing brands to have competitiveness, they must leverage on the strengths of the industry, offering differentiated and competitive products in a wider range of areas with convergence functions as well as differentiation in consumer interface and application of advancing technology; in-depth product research is called for.

The objective of this case study is to analyze how effectively KIA K5, which is a leading mid-size car brand, has positioned itself into the mid-size car market. Before KIA launched the K5, Sonata and SM5 were the leading brands in the mid-size car market. They had loyal customers who like their similar images. As many competitors keep launching new brands or new designs into the car industry, Sonata and SM5 were pressured to introduce new versions. But, the YF Sonata and the New SM5 failed to catch up with the new trends in the market. Whilst YF Sonata was perceived as too innovative, the New SM5 was treated as an old car by the target customers of the mid-size car. While the two leading brands struggled to attract customers, KIA K5 found a new market space by identifying and focusing on the lucrative replace and up-grade demand segment and filling the gap between the current product category values and the emerging mid-size car category values. The K5 found the right values that customers need and successfully articulated the values to the customers. This case study illustrates that a successful positioning strategy can be effectively employed to attract customers in the saturated car manufacturing industry. This case can be summarized as the successful positioning strategy of KIA K5 is comprised of four primary pillars: design innovation, market analysis, STP (segmentation, targeting, and positioning), and launch strategy. The KIA K5 case study provides valuable insights and implications for many other companies that are planning to find a proper positioning strategy for their own business.
Major advanced countries pursuing accountability for research and development are carrying out gendered innovations by recognizing the importance of sex and gender analysis in science research and technology development. Korea needs to actively promote gendered innovations as a strategy moving from Fast Follower to First Mover. In order to promote gendered innovations in the science, technology and ICT fields, policies of integrating the gender dimension in the process of research from research design to the analysis of research outcomes should be declared and research support measures should be introduced from the proposal evaluation for the gendered innovations. In particular, in order to support the new gendered innovations research systematically in Korea's R & D system, a legal basis must precede. In this study, we propose an amendment to the law related to gender innovation by analyzing the cases in foreign countries.
Product-Service Systems (PSS) has drawn significant attention since it can effectively address diverse values of consumers by integrating products and services. PSS has been defined as a system of products, services, supporting networks and infrastructure that is designed to satisfy customer needs and to generate values. Manufacturing companies can accomplish business innovation by devising new service elements and providing PSSs starting from their products. Such new efforts are called manufacturing servitization. With analysis of the company's business contexts, diverse strategies could be set for servitization. Services could be developed so that their product functions can be supported. On the other hand, new services could be devised to drive active emotional values of their customers in a broadly related manner with their products. In this way, different servitization strategies in service space could be employed. In this paper, the product-service integration spaces for comparison of product-service systems in manufacturing servitization is briefly sketched. Various issue spaces, termed dimensions, would be used including service space, customer space, value space and business model space. Diverse PSS cases, including well-known PSSs and brand new PSSs, will be classified and compared to demonstrate the product-service integration spaces.

Due to the structural characteristic of a double roller, the double roller can have various deformation behaviors depending on a gap block design, even if dimensions and loading conditions for the double roller are the same. Based on this feature, we propose a strategy for designing the gap block of the carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) double roller to minimize defects (e.g., sagging and wrinkling), which can be raised during the product conveying process, with the pursue of the lightweight design. In the suggested strategy, analysis cases are first selected by considering main design parameters and engineering tolerances of the gap block, and then deformation behaviors of these selected cases are extracted using the finite element method (FEM). Here, to obtain the optimal gap block parameters that satisfy the purpose of this study, deformation deviations in the contact area are calculated and compared using the extracted deformation behaviors. Note that the contact area in this work is located between the product and the roller. As a result, through the design method of the gap block proposed in this work, it is possible to construct the CFRP double roller that can significantly decrease the defects without changing the overall sizes of the roller. A detailed method is suggested herein, and the results are evaluated in a numerical way.
This study presents a new methodology for developing AI-based products. It identifies the distinctive attributes of AI innovation that are different from existing methods, and presents a product design process and methodology reflecting these attributes. This study emphasizes that AI product development should be oriented toward an ambidexterity approach. This study proposes a design process and specific development method for AI-based products that including steps such as technology push oriented idea generation with morphological approach, market pull oriented consumer requirements analysis, product design refinement, etc. In order to verify the practical applicability of this methodology, an AI-based car infotainment system development strategy is derived as a case study. 13 innovative ideas were generated by the morphological approach and expert review based on technological possibility, and a total of 6 quality requirements were derived as new product development strategies through the analysis of consumer requirements by combining Kano and TOPSIS. The methodology proposed in this research paper can be usefully utilized for companies to pioneer new markets through AI-based products or to expand the market by upgrading existing products or services.
Purpose - Studies of mechanism as a competitive strategy, a relatively new field in the study of strategic management research, has recently drawn the attention of the business management scholars. The literature has so far proposed the subjective-based view, environment-based view, and the resource-based view in its analyses of firm management. Hence, it is highly likely for the firm management to be reasonably thought of as a combination of and interaction among the three key elements of subject, environment, and resources this is the mechanism-based view (MBV). It is reasonable to consider firm management to be the combination of and interaction among the three key elements of subject, environment, and resources. The overall dynamic process that integrates these three elements and creates functional harmony is identified as the mechanism, the principle of firm management. Much of the extant literatures on MBV has mainly focused on case studies, a qualitative approach prone to subjectivity of the researcher, although the intuition from the study may lead to meaningful insights into a firm-specific mechanism. This study's focus is also on case analysis, but it still attempts a quantitative approach in order to reach a scientific and systematic understanding of the MBV. Research design, data, and methodology - I used both a qualitative and quantitative approach to a single model, given the complexity of the innovation processes. I conducted in-depth interviews with POSCO employees-20 from general management, two from human resources, eight from information technology, five from finance and accounting, and five from production and logistics management. Once the innovative events were selected, the interview results were double-checked by the interviewees themselves to ensure the accuracy of the answers recorded. Based on the interview, I then conducted statistical validation using the survey results as well. Results - This study analyzes the building process of innovation and the effect of the mechanism pattern on innovation by examining the case of POSCO, which has survived over the past 21 years. I apply a new analytical tool to study mechanism innovation types, perform a new classification, and describe the interrelationships among the mechanism factors. This process allows me to see how the "Subject"factor interacts with the other factors. I found that, in the innovation process of the adoption stage, Subject had a mediating effect but that the mediating effect of resource and performance was smaller than the effect of Subject on performance alone. During the implementation stage, the mediating effect of Subject increased. Conclusion - Therefore, I have confirmed that the subject utilizes resources reasonably and efficiently. I have also advanced mechanism studies: whereas the field's research methods have been largely confined to single case studies, I have used both qualitative and quantitative methods to examine the relationships among mechanisms.
Purpose: With the rapid changes in the technical development and the trend of consumption trend, the convenience store industry is facing an unprecedented competitive situation in the consumption environment where the boundary between online and offline is broken due to the stagnation of offline distribution channels and the spread of online shopping. The biggest innovation strategy of the major convenience store brands in recent years are introducing the O2O (Online to Offline) platform and presenting new products and services beyond the boundaries of online and offline to transform themselves into Omni Channel stores. The study is designed to analyze the effect of innovativeness of convenience store as a stimulus in O2O platform which customers perceive on store loyalty, the final response to external stimuli, through customer engagement with convenience store brands. Specifically, the innovativeness of convenience stores was divided into types of core activities in corporate marketing and focused on innovations in services, products(proposals), promotions and experiences. Research design, data, and methodology: Various hypotheses have been developed to achieve this research purpose. The data were collected from 1,128 questionnaires the age between 15 and 60 who had experience using retail store apps and delivery apps and were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and SmartPLS 3.3.7 program. Measurement model analysis was carried out to assess convergent and discriminant validity. Also, common method bias was tested using the values of VIF (variance inflation factor). The hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 3.3.7 program. Results: First, service innovation has a positive effect on cognitive engagement. Second, product, promotion and experience innovation have a positive effect on cognitive and affective engagement. Third, cognitive influences affective engagement. Finally, both cognitive and affective engagement affect store loyalty, but affective engagement has a stronger effect on store loyalty than cognitive engagement. Conclusions: All four types of innovation and cognitive engagement have a positive effect on emotional engagement, which has a stronger effect on store loyalty than cognitive engagement. Thus, while innovation can build loyalty through emotional engagement, innovation strategies must be designed and pursued with caution in terms of impact through cognitive engagement may not achieve the planned goals.

Business Information Systems are strategic applications to achieve companies' goals and innovation. This idea make companies invest their time and budget in the Information Systems. However, it is difficult to forecast effects of the investment in Information Systems and it causes hesitation of making decision. Thus, I researched a case so that I could forecast the effect of the information systems using AHP(analytic hierarchical process). In this study, I approached this matter with three views such as intelligence(review of prior literature), design(methodology development), and application. This study is significant in terms of practicality rather than theoretical dimension. Particularly, I suggested a way of quantifying in monetary value the quality aspects through inverting qualitative facts to quantitative facts and calculated the investment feasibility with it.
