BIM-enabled Quantitative Indicators for Analyzing Building Circulation in Early Phase of Design (설계초기 동선 분석을 위한 BIM기반 정량 평가지표 및 평가체계에 관한 연구)

  • In order to ensure a certain level of the quality of design, standardized evaluation indicators are being used as an objective criterion. Even though the evaluation indicators are quantifiable, limitations such as inefficiency and inconsistency caused by manual task in the evaluation process still have been found. BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology that is commonly adopted in architectural design process provides an environment which enables us to figure out a building model to be interpreted quantitatively with the basis of the building information model. It supports quantitative, consistent, accurate and quick evaluations so as to improve quality of design even in the initial design phase. This paper aims to establish BIM-enabled quantitative indicators and an evaluation framework to analyze building circulation even in early phase of design. The indicators are composed of 4 types (relative distance, accessibility, simplicity, pedestrian friendliness) and 7 sub-types. The evaluation framework is the process to derive Parameterized Path Value (PPV) as weighting on each indicator. For demonstrating the scalability of the suggested evaluation indicators and the framework, the authors implemented an evaluation tool and a case study has been carried out by using an actual building remodel project.

  • The business based existing BPMN model is a lack of service oriented modeling techniques. Therefore, it requires a layered technique of service oriented business modeling so that can meet the design for a complex application system, developing a system based on SOA. In order to enhance reusability and modularity of BPMN business model, this paper proposes a metamodel and business modeling process based on this metamodel that can hierarchically build a BPMN model. Towards this end, the XL-BPMN metamodel hierarchically established based on MDA and MVS styles are first defined. Then a BPMN service modeling process is constructed based on modeling elements of this metamodel according to the modeling phases. Finally, the result of a case study in which the proposed method is applied to an online shopping mall system is discussed. With the use of well-defined metamodel and modeling process, it is hoped that it can be shown that a service dominated and layered BPMN business model can be established, and that the modularity and reusability of the constructed BPMN business model can be maximized.

  • This study aims to verify the feasibility of design by developing pressure flow-controlled swash plate type pump with the use of SimulationX, a computer analysis program. Developing analysis model based on design drawing data has a cost-saving effect because it is possible to figure out the effectiveness of design through the work and it never falls into repeated inaccuracies in the production process. Analysis model is developed in the following order. First, the structure of each part such as valve and rotating unit which have dynamic factor is analyzed and the modeling of single component is carried out, reflecting drawing data. Second, the modeling of pump assembly is carried out with the combination of each analysis model and a work is conducted to determine whether the modeling can perform pressure flow control function according to load condition smoothly based on design intent. At the end of the modeling process, the feasibility of design is verified by showing the parts which are moving as expected mechanism.

  • This study intended to introduce the method of designing an eco-friendly building based on BIM(Building Information Modeling) and BIM-based application. The proposed application aimed to generate the environmental performance of the designed alternative automatically in real-time manner in the process of architectural design. We focused on the feasibility of BIM-based eco-friendly design process and the applicability of the developed application for the architectural design practice. In this manner, in the end of paper, we proposed the so-call EcoBIM which is the performance evaluation module for the designed alternative using BIM in the real-time manner and the new design process with it. EcoBIM generate the coefficient of overall heat transmission of wall, roof and slab of the designed alternative with their physical characteristics such as thickness, thermal resistance and so on.

  • The demand for coverall-type protective clothing are increasing in many industrial fields; however, it is impossible to evaluate the wearers' apparel fit because there is no commercialized pattern in the market. This study produces a manual for the process of acquiring patterns by separating PPE products into pieces to provide information on acquiring patterns. The analysis was on coverall-type non woven protective clothing in the domestic market, and 4 panels examined the validity, reliability, and efficiency of various possible methods on each step of process. Five steps were conducted to acquire patterns removing wrinkles, marking seams lines, separating seams, and pattern completing. The process of converting these into pattern files was designed through three procedures of digitizing, editing, and exporting and detailed stages. Fitting tests were undertaken, real patterns by actual modeling and pattern files by virtual modeling; all showed similar forms with outfits wearing ready-made protective coveralls. This study sought the most efficient and objective method of virtual modeling and proposed it as a manual. It is expected for the pattern reverse-designing manual through products analysis presented in this study that would be a helpful addition of information to the pattern tracing of pattern-less clothing products.

  • In the concept design stage of the product design process, it is desirable that a designer makes alternative designs sufficiently, examines and analyzes them, and finally determines an appropriate design. To efficiently investigate several alternative designs, it should be facilitated to modify the model and transfer the model data to analysis program. In this research, a concept design process for tank is automated using I-DEAS feature-based modeling system from SDRC. Additionally, the facility for the pre-estimation of the performance of product, the useful volume calculation, the mass calculation, the confirmation of the allowable workspae, and the interface to analysis propram are developed using API functions of OPen-link and Open-data. Graphic User Interface (GUI) makes it extrmely easy to utilize functions.

  • Recently, there have been various attempts for the adoption and spread of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the construction industry. However, the spread of BIM has been less satisfied than expected, because of the insufficient, expensive hardware and software for the authoring, analysis and so forth. As a solution to resolve the obstacles, the applications of cloud computing technology to BIM have been introduced. Due to the vendor-dependent functions and lack of verification on the work process, the spread of cloud-based BIM has been limited in Korea. Therefore, this study proposes the functions of cloud computing services which can support BIM-based design processes through the review of practitioners, questionnaire survey and analysis of design process.

  • The framework, described in this paper, involves artificial evolutionary systems that re -produce aimed solutions through a simulated Darwinian evolution process. Through this process the framework designs structures of machines innovatively and emergently especially in the stages of conceptual and basic design. Since the framework simulates the evolution of nature, it inevitably involves processes that converse the natural evolution to the artificial evolution. For the conversion, based on several methods as the building block modeling, Artificial Life, evolutionary computation and the law of natural selection, we propose a series of processes that consists of modeling, evaluation, selection, evolution etc. We have demonstrated the implementation of the framework with the design of multi-step gear systems.

As a result, we developed knowledge based smart search system and customized it to PDM system on commercial use. In this smart search system, wherever process designer can seek to result quickly.   • In this paper, the improved Multi-FNN (Fuzzy-Neural Networks) model is identified and optimized using HCM (Hard C-Means) clustering method and optimization algorithms. The proposed Multi-FNN is based on FNN and use simplified and linear inference as fuzzy inference method and error back propagation algorithm as learning rules. We use a HCM clustering and genetic algorithms (GAs) to identify both the structure and the parameters of a Multi-FNN model.
