  • As the network-related technology develops the number of both Internet users and the usage are explosively increasing. The networking traffic is increasing in the campus as the networking system inside universities, following the trend, adds more nodes and various networking services. Nonetheless, the quality of services for users has been degraded. Accordingly, core problems, which can cause troubles for network management, design and expansion of the network, and the cost policy, has appeared. To effectively cope with the problems with analyses a great number of technicians, tools, and budget are needed. However, it is not possible for mid and small-sized colleges to spend such a high expenditure for professional consulting. To reduce the cost and investment creating the optimized environment, the analyses on the replacement of the tools, changing the network structure, and performance analysis about capacity planning of networking is necessary. For this reason, in this paper, framework-based performance management tools are used for all steps that are related to the subject of the analysis for the network management. As the major research method, the current data in detailed categories are collected, processed, and analyzed to provide the solution for the problems. As a result we could manage the network, server, and application more systematically and react efficiently to errors and degrading of performance that affect the networking tasks. Also, with the scientific and organized analyses the overall efficiency is upgraded by optimizing the cost for managing the operation of entire system.

  • A higher spatial resolution is preferable to support the accuracy of detailed climate analysis in urban areas. Airborne LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) and satellite (KOMPSAT-2, Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-2) images at 1 to 4 m resolution were utilized to produce digital elevation and building surface models as well as land cover maps at very high(5m) resolution. The Climate Analysis Seoul(CAS) was used to calculate the fractional coverage of land cover classes in built-up areas and thermal capacity of the buildings from their areal volumes. It then produced analyzed maps of local-scale temperature based on the old and new input data. For the verification of the accuracy improvement by the precise input data, the analyzed maps were compared to the surface temperature derived from the ASTER satellite image and to the ground observation at our detailed study region. After the enhancement, the ASTER temperature was highly correlated with the analyzed temperature at building (BS) areas (R=0.76) whereas there observed no correlation with the old input data. The difference of the air temperature deviation was reduced from 1.27 to 0.70K by the enhancement. The enhanced precision of the input data yielded reasonable and more accurate local-scale temperature analysis based on realistic surface models in built-up areas. The improved analysis tools can help urban planners evaluating their design scenarios to be prepared for the urban climate.

  • This case report described a technique utilizing a computer-aided design (CAD)/computer-aided machining (CAM) - guided surgical implant placement and prefabricated temporary fixed prosthesis for an immediately loaded restoration. The advantages of CAD/CAM guided implant procedures are flapless, minimally invasive surgery and shorter surgery time. With this technique, less postoperative morbidity and delivery of prosthesis for immediate function would be possible. A patient with an edentulous maxilla received 8 implants in maxilla using CAD/CAM surgical templates. Prefabricated provisional maxillary implant supported fixed prosthesis were connected immediately after implant installation. Provisional prosthesis was evaluated for aesthetics, function during 6 months. Definitive implant supported fixed porcelain fused metal bridges were fabricated.

  • The aim of this study is to present a prediction model of construction cost for a bridge that has a high reliability using historical data from the planning phase based on a CBR (Case-Based Reasoning) method in order to overcome limitations of existing construction cost prediction methods, which is linearly estimated. To do this, a reasoning model of bridge construction cost by a spreadsheet template was suggested using complexly both CBR and GA (Genetic Algorithm). Besides, this study performed a case study to verify the suggested cost reasoning model for bridge construction projects. Measuring efficiency for a result of the case study was 8.69% on average. Since accuracy of the suggested prediction cost is relatively high compared to the other analysis methods for a prediction of construction cost, reliability of the suggested model was secured. In the case that information for detailed specifications of each bridge type in an initial design phase is difficult to be collected, the suggested model is able to predict the bridge construction cost within the minimized measuring efficiency with only the representative specifications for bridges as an improved correction method. Therefore, it is expected that the model will be used to estimate a reasonable construction cost for a bridge project.

  • In fracture treatment with external fixators, the inter-fragmentary movements at the fracture site affect the fracture healing process, and these movements are highly related to the stiffness of external fixation systems. Therefore, in order to provide the optimal fracture healing at the fracture site, it is essential to understand the relationship between the stiffness and the system configurations in external fixation system. In this study we investigated the influences of system configuration parameters on the stiffness in the finite element analysis of an external fixation system of a long bone. The system alignment, the geometric and the material non-linearity of the pin, the joint stiffness and the callus formation were considered in the finite element model. In the first, the system stiffness of the developed finite element model was compared with the experiment data for model validation. The consideration of the joint stiffness and nonlinearity of the model improved the system stiffness results. The joint stiffness, the non-alignment of the system decreased the system stiffness while the callus formation increased the system stiffness. The present results provided the biomechanical basis of rational guidelines for design improvements of external fixators and pre-op. planning to maximize the system stiffness in fracture surgery.

  • The usual definition of and urban resort was a place vastly different from places of daily life such as a theme park or other tourist destination. At the same time, revival of the combination of usual and unusual spaces, in a way like the mixed "Hare"(Special occasion of public event) and "Ke"(Daily life) spaces of communities of old Japan, is part of the idea of urban resorts. And they are places, which start by making a comfortable urban environment for citizens, providing a daily life full of culture and promoting a city′s identity to visitors. if we think about the kinds of structural elements of urban resorts, the usual elements include community, local culture and industry, while the unusual elements include symbols, festivities and interaction. Kobe Wing Stadium is a venue for the 2002 FIFA World Cup hosted by Korea and Japan. The city will build the stadium, but after construction management will be given over to private enterprise, hoping to utilize that sector′s business know how. A competition was held to determine the private executor who would be entrusted with the planning, design, construction and management of the project, considering the conditions of the area, the stadium′s relationship to it and local revitalization. The competition was won by a private enterprise (Kobe Steel Obayashi Group). The them of "Creation of a Sports Community Park" grapples with the large issue of the facility′s relationship with the community. American geographer Yi-fu Tuan coined the word "topophilia" to indicate love of a place. No other word could better describe the desired urban resort nature of the stadium. From this historical perspective it seems that stadiums have great potential as urban resorts. The factor that will determine their success is the attitude of citizens toward them, in short whether they develop topophilia for them or not. We examined the urban resort nature of Kobe Wing Stadium. Regarding daily life, we saw the attempts to revive the local community, the possibility of deepening the local culture and the weakened state of local industry. As a place that is for more than daily life, we saw the certainty of the stadium′s symbolism, its potential as a place for festivities and the test it will face as a space for interaction. Even though several issues are left for future resolution, evaluating Kobe Wing Stadium through these elements of an urban resort, it is clearly founded in the daily life of the community while providing a venue for "Hare"occasions. Fulfilling the roles of an urban resort, it provides many opportunities for local residents to enjoy their and gives visitors a reason to come repeatedly.

  • Forecasting is a critical task for fashion companies because of continuous change in fashion and long process lead-time. Therefore, it is of great importance for both scholars and companies to understand how forecasted fashion styles are accepted by consumers. This research aimed to investigate consumer acceptance of fashion styles in Korea. The study examined and compared oversea collections of women's wear to the street fashion in Korea for seven seasons from 02 s/s to 05 s/s. Information on oversea collections were obtained from the magazine, Fashion Show, and the street fashion information from Seoul Fashion Design Center. The results showed that overall trends presented in oversea collections have been well accepted, while acceptance of specific styles or items varied. During the period of this research, sporty style and feminine style were very strong in the street fashion. Many styles and items were modified and selectively accepted probably because of cultural differences and limitations of mass production. Some styles which were presented in oversea collections were not accepted in Korea, and at the same time some cases were observed only in the street fashion in Korea. The results of this study provide guidelines for Korean apparel companies in merchandise planning and empirical findings to deepen the understanding on Korean society with respect to fashion.
