This research aims to find processes for developing the design language for the visual notes and design meaning of street furnitures. The result of this study are as follows. 1) The design language implies to get how to represent condensed symbols of the street furnitures. 2) The configuration of the street furnitures has their visual note and design meaning of community identity, represented their own detail design languages. 3) The detail design languages are useful to solve the matters of what design elements of the street furnitures can be composed of the visual notes and design meaning. 4) The detail design languages can be applied to the pattern of tools of Microsoft Office Word.

The purpose of this study is to understand interrelation between design thinking system and creativity, and to analyze designer how to develop personal conception and attitude in interior design through the method of analogy for signification. The process of this study is illustrated as follows: 1. Introduction of general theories about analogical grammar and signification of analogy. 2. Investigating possibility of analogy as creative thinking method in interior design for meaning development. 3. Establishment of design process model for analogical design based on the case study through the design field. That is, concept and process of analogical design is shown objectively by application in collective residential design as commercial product strategy. Through this process, this study presents possibility of giving meaning in interior space through consilience between source and target of analogy. Finally, it examines analogical method is major strategy for ideation and mechanism for meaning development in interior design.

Digital technology makes changes of people's behavior style and characteristic of space in which people live. Therefore, we need to adjust conceptual meaning related to digital technology properly. For deriving emotional interactive space design, we need to understand following meanings: the meaning of interaction and interaction design, the meaning of emotion and emotional design, the meaning of space, emotional design, and interaction design in digital society. Consequently emotional interactive space design makes people satisfied with their five senses, communication with people increase and enable people to experience something new that they haven't experienced before transcending time and space.

Recently, as emotional elements have been applied to many fields including marketing, architecture, and design, new understanding on and interest in sensibility are emerging. The sensibility, as opposite meaning to the reason, has been excluded from academic object, and researches in sensibility have been diversified for the meaning, scope, application methods and even application target of sensibility without consistency. This study aims to redefine meaning of sensibility by examining documents related to sensibility, and to examine the features of sensibility in design, especially in space design. Consequently, sensibility was defined to function as a filter which deals with numerous stimulative informations intuitively and uniformly while human gives significance to a stimulus. According to the examination on apparent features of sensibility and studies of sensibility engineering, the sensibility occurs not only by visual and physical stimulus but also by meaningful stimulus, and both are known to have mutual influence on each other. In space design, spaces of many purposes can be categorized into the spaces of routine and out of routine following the empirical time, and physical stimulus and interesting factor pursued by these spaces are inversely proportional. This study is meaningful insofar as it enabled to explain interaction between physical stimulus, meaning, and other factors within sensibility as a comprehensive concept by redefining its concept.

Psychological phenomenon of human beings that are considered as creation of symbols endues various meanings to the objects and through this process, it develops society, culture and religion. This paper aims to examine the relationship between objects and human beings in the current circumstances that are summarized as "Pluralism" and "Age of Consumption". For this purpose, I introduced the semiology system and established the concept that is "Consumption of Meaning". The method that the meaning of goods as the modern objects is consumed is defined through three meaning analyses that are social, psychological and cultural. In addition, as defining how an object have its unique meaning, this paper creates the new interpretation on the role of industrial design that searches and constructs the existential area in the real world related to the creation and adjustment of meanings.

A designer representing an avant guard fashion, Martin Margiela introduces experimental collections that seek ideational and ideal values, breaking away from limits of popular universality or usefulness of fashion. This study seeks to interpret Martin Margiela's design characteristics from the perspective of ambiguity, and thereby examine theoretical basis of meaning interpretation of his ambiguous and innovative design. In poetic meaning ambiguity is verbal nuance which gives room for alternative reaction the same piece of language. By way of study methods, concepts and characteristics of ambiguity were examined based on William Empson's seven types of ambiguity, and characteristics of Martin Margiela's fashion design were analyzed from the perspective of ambiguity. In the study, expression of ambiguity in Martin Margiela's fashion design was categorized into ambiguity of forms, that of meanings, and that of existence. Ambiguity of forms could be found indeterminate form of clothes and flat clothes. Ambiguity of meaning refers to ambiguity arising from the possibility of the meaning that fashion design is going to convey diverse interpretation. Ambiguity of meaning could be found up-cycling vintage clothes, semi-couture, signs of time, unfitting size, and symbolic letter. Ambiguity of existence could be found inanimate dummy, face shrouded with a veil and expression of multiple identity. In Martin Margiela's fashion design ambiguity gives rise to joy of something fresh, amusement felt about what deviates from normality and the possibility of fashion design's endless creations.

As the use of cultural elements to enhance design has become increasingly emphasized, fashion studies are focusing more on the cultural aspects of design. However, the diverse approaches of Minhwa (Korean folk painting) still need to be incorporated into fashion designs. Moreover, there is limited research on the awareness and thought of using a cultural design source of Minhwa based on people from different cultural backgrounds. This study aims to reveal an in-depth understanding of the use of Minhwa and its inner symbolic meaning by people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. A review of the literature on cultural design and Minhwa studies was conducted to establish a theoretical foundation. Focus group interviews were conducted with 26 participants, who were divided into five distinct cultural groups to ascertain their thoughts towards Minhwa and its inner symbolic meaning. The study's major findings were threefold. First, the outer appearance of Minhwa elements based on aesthetic preferences and familiarity affect their preference choices more than the influences of their cultural backgrounds. Second, knowing the knowledge of symbolic meaning makes a big difference in image preference. Third, avoiding the use of anachronisms is a significant consideration, as they can lead to negative judgments irrespective of cultural background.

Design concepts of light can be divided into two respects, visual plastic and metaphysical meaning. The current research focuses on the second respect. The meaning of light is abstract characteristics(for example, divinity, spirituality, or image) ultimately expressed by visual plastic. Because it makes architectural space abundant, it have been expressed frequently in architectural space until now. The purpose of this paper is to conceptualize and explain and arrange the meanings of light in the category that have been expressed in architectural space from ancient to current. The method of this study is content analysis and case study, and this is supplement by theoretical consideration on the meaning of light(relationship between perception and meaning, elements to form meaning etc.). This study consists of three steps. Firstly, through the content analysis of existing literature and documents, 17 meanings of light are confirmed. Secondly, these 17 meanings are defined and explained in 3 categories(symbolic, esthetic, and experiential character). Thirdly, they are additionally explained and articulated by case study. In the result, various meanings of light that have been fragmentarily expressed in architectural space until now is clearly arranged at a glance. Those suggested design concepts will be basic conferential material, available to the interior designers and students who want to utilize the organised study concepts.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the elements forming interior design and to examine dimensional relationship among the elements which form space through the comparison of the spatial language and semiotics of space for the component of interior design. In addition to that it indtends to derive the principle of design which dominate interior design and the inherent diversified meaning by comparing those elements with the square of semiotic used in semiotics. Through this comparsion the meaning of constituent forming space which can be observed through the comparsion of square of semiotic has redefined flexbility among relational system of elements and this flexible concept make the scope of environment including human being broad and enriched. This study fist of all analyzes various phenomena of social culture review semiotics meta-learning and examines back theoretical ground of semiotics which is needed for space analysis. Second of all in the area of presenting an analysis tool for meaningful analysis this report introduces the square of semiotics which was invented,. A. J. Greimas in order to analyze the meaning of literary work and defind three categories of the progressive research method for the analysis of interior design and research itself. Finally as for the analysis of meaning for interior design this report sets the space and analyzed the space in accordance with the method and research procedure. being
