  • The purpose of this case study is to reduce the flaw and reconstruction occur at the level of construction by determining the propriety of estimate and error on a drawing and specification at working design level through case studies of BIM application at the level of design review. As a preliminary to apply BIM technology, it is needed to review the drawing, and then it is required to define BIM range by selecting the section in which construction error occurs frequently except for the type of part that is constructed repeatedly. At the execution level, the drawing is reviewed vertically, horizontally and spatially by proceeding structure and finish modeling on the defined BIM range, and also the propriety of estimate and error on the drawing and specification are examined. We aim to raise the completion rate, improve quality of construction, reduce the cost for construction and shorten period of construction by preparing for the error on the drawing and specification in advance through this review procedures.

  • In this study, a CAD/CAM system for axisymmetric deep drawing processes has been developed. An approach to the system is based on the knowledge based system. Under the environment of CAD/CAM software of Personal Designer, the system has been written in UPL. The geometries of intermediate and final object in deep drawing process, including processes parameters are input for the CAD/CAM system. The input data can be obtained from the results of Pro_Deep. The parts drawing of die sets for each process is generated in tool design module of the CAD/CAM system. Also. the die assembly drawings can be obtained. NC commands for machining of the part can be generated in the developed CAD/CAM system.

  • In this paper. we will discuss in making large size cylindrical shells with multithickness wall sections such as straight, stepped, tapered sides. These shells are constructed of type 6061 O temper aluminum starting with a blanking size of 877 mm plate. Its diameter to length ratio of 1 to 2.78 and a 36.7% wall reduction is achieved by our continuous deep drawing process. This process required no in-process annealing. But after cold working, these shells is performed heat treatment to T6 condition. These shells are used for the making of seamless LPG pressure vessels after the spinning process. This process is composed of deep drawing, reverse redrawing, drawing-ironing and several ironing processes. In the verification of forming process design, we used DEFORM code.

  • A finite element inverse method is introduced for direct prediction of blank shapes, strain distributions, and reliable intermediate shapes from desired final shapes in axisymmetric multi-step deep drawing processes. This mothod enables the determination of process disign. The approach deals with the Hencky's deformation theory. Hill's second order yield criterion, simplified boundary conditions, and minimization of plastic work with constraints. The algorithm developed is applied to motor case forming, and cylindrical cup drawing with the large limit drawing ratio so that it confirms its validity by demonstrating resonably accurate numerical results of each problem. Numerical examples reveal the reason of difficulties in motor case forming with corresponding limit diagrams.

  • As part of effort to reduce the process time from design to manufacture and delivery, the concept of CE(concurrent engineering) has been applied to design process. In this research, the drawing information management system (DIMS) was developed based on CE. The system can distribute electronic documents of drawing or work instruction parallel to all reviewers simultaneously and collect their annotations through network. Mark-up functions are used for annotations on the electronic documents. DIMS is a system which integrates drawing management, engineering BOM, CAD and raster drawings, etc. In this system, a SUN workstation is interfaced with PCs by LAN. CIMCAD-2D, Image Hunter, and ORACLE RDBMS are used for CAD drawings, raster drawings, and drawing information management, respectively. As an integration tool for all the information, LINKAGE is adopted.

  • In the pultrusion process for the CFRP (Carbon fiber reinforced plastic) rectangular pipe, the drawing device is eseential which can continuously produces products and draws the carbon fiber tow. In addition, since the degree of cure changes depending on the temperature and the temperature ditribution of the curing mold changes depending on the pultrusion speed, the temperature distribution of the curing mold under certain conditions must be studied before processing. In this study, in the pultrusion process using a closed impregnation method, which has several advantages compared to the general pultrusion process using a open bath impregnation method, the drawing force required to pull the carbon fiber tows and the temperature distribution of the curing mold was analyzed to design the drawing device and the curing mold efficiently.

  • This study was designed for automated pattern drawing and grading a man's Durumagi, Korean traditional coat in order to reestablished and grade the pattern by Apparel CAD SYSTEM. For the study, AM-250 systems of Gerber as the computer and Macro program as the automated drawing were used. Also, PDS(Pattern Design System) was used for the grading of the original Durumagi pattern. Results were followings; First, the size data that could be standardized by reestablishing the pattern of a man's Durumagi by each size was presented. Second, The pattern was developed by each size. Third, new design was propose for mass production with the traditional design of the DURUMAGI Fourth, The time for making DURUMAGI pattern and the cost through the automated drawings by using the Macro program were reduced.   • Process design of multi-step wire drawing process, conducted by means of finite element analysis and ANN(Artificial Neural Network) has been considered. The investigated problem involves the ade-quate selection of the drawing die angle and the correspondent reduction rate in the condition of desired initial and final diameter. Combinations of the process parameters which are used in finite ele-ment simulation are selected by using the orthogonal array. Also the orthogonal array. Also the orthogonal array and the results of finite element simulation which are related to the process energy are used as train data of ANN. In this study it is shown that the application of new technique using ANN and Othogonal array table to the process design of metal forming process is useful method.

  • Magnesium alloy has low formability at room temperature and therefore, in many cases, forming at elevated temperatures is necessary to obtain the required material flow without failure. Tn the present study, square cup deep drawing tests using the magnesium alloy AE31 sheet were experimentally conducted using the porches and dies with different edge radius to evaluate the formability sensitivity to the die design variables. The experimental results showed that the fracture position over the cup wall moved from the punch nose to the flange as the die temperature increased, and that the drawing depth change was more affected by the punch radius than the die radius.

A Study on the Process Sequence Design in Metal Forming including Deep Drawing (디프드로잉이 포함된 소성가공의 공정설계에 관한 연구)

  • A design methodology is applied for manufacturing a disk-brake piston component and a washing machine container. The design criteria are the limit drawing ratio and the forging load within the available press limit. Also, the final product should not have any geometrical defect. The rigid-plastic and elastic-plastic FEM have been applied to simulate both of the conventional manufacturing processes, respectively, which include deep drawing and forging process. Simulations of one stage process from a selected stock to the final product shape are performed for generating information on additional requirements for metal flow. The best manufacturing processes are selected, which is using a hemispherical punch in the deep drawing process for both disk-brake piston component and washing machine container.
