디자인분야 대학생의 정보문해 교육을 위한 핵심 정보문해능력 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on an Analysis of Core Information Literacy Competencies for Information Literacy Instruction of Undergraduate Students in Design Discipline)

  • 디자인분야 대학생들이 학업능력을 향상시키고 독립적인 전문가로 성장하기 위해서는 일반적 정보문해 교육에서 추구하는 일반적인 정보문해능력 이외에 보다 복잡하고 전문적인 정보문해능력이 요구된다. 따라서 본 연구는 국내 4개 대학교의 디자인분야 교육목표와 교육과정, 그리고 미국 디자인분야 교육 인증기관인 국립미술디자인학교협회의 디자인분야 학사학위 프로그램 기준과 지침에 대한 문헌조사를 실시하고, 문헌조사를 통해 분석된 디자인분야의 핵심 정보문해능력에 대한 검증을 위하여 디자인분야 전 문가를 대상으로 한 델파이 조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 디자인분야는 7개 범주 26개의 핵심 정보문해능력을 공통적으로 필요로 하며, 이러한 정보문해능력들은 정보문해 교육의 시기와도 관련이 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 제품디자인 등 세부전공분야별로는 보다 더 전문적인 특정 정보문해능력이 추가적으로 필요하며, 이러한 디자인분야 특정 핵심 정보문해능력 이외에 디자인분야에는 일반영역/기초능력관련 일반학문분야에 대한 정보문해능력도 필요한 것으로 분석되었다.

한국 대학 실내디자인 관련 교육 현황 분석과 개선 방향 연구 (An Analysis and Directional Study on Current Interior Design Related Education in Korea)

  • Interior design education has been developed rapidly since the discipline established in Korea in 1980s but unfortunately the development was without any progressive transition until 1990's. When Korean Institute of Interior Design/KIID inaugurated in 1992, interior design education and related research activities began to be intensified. Despite its effort, there were still confusion about the discipline as there were many similar discipline tracks (architecture, design, fine art, & home economic, etc.) each having an own definition of interior design and introducing different aspects of educating the subject. Education program for interior design still not sufficiently supporting the needs of today's rapidly changing industry nor to prepare the diverse needs of the client. In order for interior design major to be effective in the future and fulfill the needs of current industry development within our society, re-evaluation of our current interior design educational programs in Korea is important. This study will be the beginning of a research series. As the first part of the research series, this particular study has been focused on reviewing of current status of interior design majors in the nation and its current condition. While making suggestion for the changes in curriculum, the following points will have to be considered as basic principle. First, understanding the duality of technology and design to accommodate the contents of design discipline. Second, understanding the need of practice and theory combined for practical education. And lastly, considering ways to adopt the human experience in order to develop creativity in oneself. The focus of this research is only on the interior design discipline, and research method as the following; first, analyze current status by reviewing admission data for 2010. Second, process a survey regarding the interior design education and practice-related issues in admissions and collect opinions from educators and professional designers in the field. Thirdly, with reference to previous studies, suggestions will be made for the discipline to be effective in the field. As mentioned earlier, this study series will continue and develop to suggest improvement in interior design program as well as to provide curriculums for students get ready for the industry with more up-to-date knowledges and creativities.

객체지향방법을 응용한 도시철도 종합시뮬레이터의 설계 (Design of the Multi-Discipline Simulator for the Urban Rail Transit with Object-Based Concept)

  • Most rail system related simulators currently used are designed to simulate only one discipline system. This obviously assumes the other discipline systems are running regularly not being affected by the system being simulated. In this paper a multi discipline simulator is proposed and its design concept is presented. A multi discipline simulator is the simulator in which major subsystems with different technical discipline are simulated simultaneously. The advantage of the simulator is in that it makes it possible to analyze the systems behavior while other discipline system vary. With this we can identify the possible multi-discipline problems and even find their solutions. A proto type simulator has been developed using object oriented programming. Object concept was judged best suitable to model the various multi-discipline self-controlling railway subsystems. It was applied to the target system, which is under development by the Korea Railroad Research Institute. The test results shows it is very useful in designn verification. It could also be a good tool in research and development work to improve the system.

디자인분야 정보문해 교육방법 및 내용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Methods and Contents of Information Literacy Instruction for Undergraduate Students in Design Discipline)

  • 본 연구는 디자인분야 대학생의 핵심 정보문해능력을 향상시키기 위한 디자인분야 정보문해 프로그램 모형을 개발하기에 앞서 정보문해 교육방법과내용을 조사 분석하고자 하는 것이다. 고등교육 정보문해 기준과모형 및 정보문해 프로그램에 대한 비교분석과 국립미술디자인학교협회(NASAD)의 디자인분야 학사학위 프로그램을 위한 기준과 지침의 분석에 대한 이론적 고찰을 바탕으로 델파이 조사를 통해 디자인분야 정보문해 교육방법과내용에 대한 디자인 전문가의 견해를 조사 분석하였다. 연구결과 디자인분야는 디자인학과 요청에 의한 도서관 전문사서의 디자인 정보문해 교육을 가장 선호하였으며, 학습 및 실제 상황에 적용할 수 있도록 디자인-특정 컨텐츠와 정보탐색 프로세스에 기반을 두고, 디자인분야 특정 도구, 자원을 상세히 제시하는 정보문해 교육을 요구하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

미국 보자르 건축의 이론과 설계방법에 관한 연구 (On the Beaux-Arts Discipline of Architectural Design in America)

  • This paper is a study of the Beaux-Arts discipline of architecture, as it was established during the late nineteenth century in America. It focuses on trio particular modes of vision and representation that were at the heart of the discipline. The paper argues that Beaux Arts vision was centered on what may be called 'planar vision'; a mode of seeing through which the multiple aspects of the architectural design imbedded in the plan were read and re-interpreted. Similarly Beaux-Arts training in drawing required its student to draw within the multiple layers of historical traces; the new design being in effect a new layer placed on often unseen traces of monumental precedent. The theoretical basis of this practice was not based on history but on the concept of composition. Composition, in the French tradition was regarded more a matter of practice than theory. The Anglo-American discourse on composition, on the other hand, formed a body of theoretical literature based on formalist assumptions. There was, however, a fundamental gap between these formalist theories of composition and the 'layered' modes of vision and drawing involved in the design process. This practice leaned more on the modern romantic notion of 'intuition' for its theoretical basis, once again forming an immanent conflict with the mimetic practice of classical and historical architecture. The paper draws a picture of a discipline centered on a 'theory of the plan,' a potentially modern discipline integrated with classical forms and details. It was clearly effective as a practice. However, structured by conflicts between theory and practice, history and form, mimesis and intuition, the Beaux-Arts was unable to defend itself at the philosophical and theoretical level the modernists engaged their attacks on this system. At the same time, the paper poses the question of how different modern architecture is from this system. Is not the 'theory of plan,' in its many transformations and guises, still the central discipline of twentieth century modern architecture, and is it not structured by basically the same kind of conflicts and paradox that were immanent to the Beaux-Arts system.

설계통합 전문분야로서의 형상설계 (Configuration Design As a Discipline of Design Integration)

  • In this paper configuration design is viewed as an engineering discipline that plays a key role in the design integration process at early-stage development of a complex and large-scale product. Taking as an instance an aircraft development program that Korean engineers had experienced in Lockheed-Martin company, the process of early-stage configuration design is recapitulated and then a role model of effective design integration activities is presented.

Design Aspects of a New Reliable Torsional Switch with Excellent RF Response

  • This paper proposes a metal contact RF MEMS switch which utilizes a see-saw mechanism to acquire a switching action. The switch was built on a quartz substrate and involves vertical deflection of the beam under an applied actuation voltage of 5.46 volts over a signal line. The see-saw mechanism relieves much of the operation voltage required to actuate the switch. The switch has a stiff beam eliminating any stray mechanical forces. The switch has an excellent isolation of −90.9 dB (compared to − 58 dB in conventional designs ), the insertion of −0.2 dB, and a wide bandwidth of 88 GHz (compared to 40 GHz in conventional design ) making the switch suitable for wide band applications.

Citation Impact of Collaboration from Intra- and Inter-disciplinary Perspectives: A Case Study of Korea

  • Purpose - This research aims to examine collaboration from a disciplinary perspective in Korea. There are needs to explore to what extent researchers collaborate by discipline and across discipline along with the impact of collaboration. Design/methodology/approach - In order to investigate collaboration with respect to entire discipline areas and author-declared discipline information we analyzed a national researcher information database (Korean Researcher Information) with a citation index database (Korean Citation Index) covering the entire range of discipline. This study analyzed the data sets for 10 years (2004-2013) including a total of 8 categories and 119 sub-categories of disciplines, 109,551 researchers, 650,263 articles, and 1,170,039 citations in Korea. Findings - The results demonstrate that there are different intensities of collaboration from heavy to minimal across disciplines. In examining collaboration in terms of author and discipline levels, the results show that collaboration in author level rises, then inter-disciplinary collaboration increases accordingly, in most of the 119 discipline sub-categories. A number of disciplines, however, tended to collaborate more intensely within their own rather than with other disciplines. Moreover, the impact of collaboration tended to change over time depending on the types of collaboration. Specifically, inter-disciplinary collaboration was likely to have more immediate impact as pioneer research, especially among more than three disciplines, whereas the impact of intra-disciplinary collaboration is higher as time passes. Originality/value - In this research, a disciplinary investigation on collaboration is conducted for the entire range of disciplines in Korea. Through analyzing distinctive author-declared discipline information from the KRI, this research examines the intensities of collaboration across disciplines, collaboration in author level, and the impact of collaboration.
