Developing Mathematics Creativity with Spreadsheets

  • The spreadsheet Microsoft Excel is the most widely used mathematical tool in today's workplace. Moreover, it is also an outstanding means for developing a surprisingly wide range of creative and innovative educational uses within such areas as mathematical modeling, visualization, and instruction. The spreadsheet's format provides us with a tool that closely parallels the way in which we naturally carry out problem solving, while the spreadsheet creation process itself illuminates the underlying mathematical concepts. In addition, the spreadsheet's visual layout allows us to introduce a broad variety of challenging and interesting topics, and to design creative demonstrations through eye-catching animated graphics. The material presented comes from actual classroom mathematics teaching experience in both industrially advanced and developing nations. A series of highly visual interactive illustrations from mathematics, the natural and social sciences, computing, engineering, and the arts provide a number of usable examples. The material discussed is applicable at diverse levels, ranging from schools and universities through adult education and in-service teacher development programs.

  • Global warming is affecting all industries, and has been applied very quickly in the energy sector. Existing in all countries around the world by using fossil fuels to minimize environmental changes are developing a new alternative energy sources. Among the emerging alternative energy, using solar energy technology is applied across the industry, but the maintenance and repair to integrate solar cells and has been a problem occurs. To prolong the life of cells integrated on a solar cell is exposed when the non-eye, etc., when not integrated by the solar cells should not be exposed. In order to resolve these contradictions, a square solar flower of the biological mother was developed by using TRIZ technique(6SC).

A Study on the Restoration of Gable Headdress (게이블 헤드드레스의 제작에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of the study is to understand the newer and more direct design techniques, and to provide information to exert creativity in designing. The headdress, one of dress items, was selected so that the change might be investigated in designs and production methods. A headdress was manufactured on the basis of literature review and portrait analysis. The target period of the study was limited to Henry Ⅶ and Henry Ⅷl(1485∼l547) when gable headdress was put on. The details and the patterns of gable headdress were identified for the selected gable hood to be manufactured. It was not possible to get the same dress material, so a similar one was made as in the pictures. The same was done to the color. Putting the focus of the study on the reproduction of the figure in the portrait, some dimension were measured in bodily proportion and patterns were made by three-dimensional cutting. As results, some dimensions used in the manufacture had some limits.

  • The creative problem-solving becomes one of the most important cognitive skills in the engineering education. As AI and automation technology(of 4th Industrial Revolution) penetrate our everyday life, its role as a human ability is highlighted. In this paper, we examine the relation between the creative problem-solving and the critical thinking, and the usefulness of the latter in the engineering education. To sum up, the critical thinking is the pre-conditon of the creative problem-solving.

  • 본 작품은 학생들의 캡스톤디자인 작품이다. 본 작품은 부모와 아이(유아기)가 집에서 책을 단순히 읽는 것을 벗어나 동화를 직접 창작할 수 있는 미래형 포토 CMS를 개발하고자 한다. 또한 스마트기기에 저장되어 있는 부모와 아이의 사진을 동화에 감정이 이입되는 방법으로 개발되었으며, 창작자에 따라서는 부모와 아이의 역할을 바꾸어 수행해 봄으로써 상대방의 소중함을 깨우칠 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 본 작품은 스마트 교육과 디지털 교과서 등의 융합교육으로 소비자 니즈(Consumer needs) 변화로 새로운 트랜드를 정립하고, 특히 부모와 아이가 동시 출연하여 동화를 창작해 나가는 친화적/창의력 학습을 할 수 있기 때문에 아이의 인지 및 감성력 향상에 도움을 주고자 개발하였다.

Development of Creative Convergence Talent in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution through Self-Directed Mathematical Competency

  • To combine the science and technology creativity necessary in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, it is necessary to cultivate talents who can discover new knowledge and create new values by combining various knowledge with self-directed mathematical competencies. This research attempted to lay the foundation for the curriculum for fostering future creative convergence talent by preparing, executing, and reflecting on the learning plan after learners themselves understand their level and status through self-directed learning. Firstly, We would like to present a teaching-learning plan based on the essential capabilities of the future society, where the development of a curriculum based on mathematics curriculum and intelligent informatization are accelerated. Secondly, an educational design model system diagram was presented to strengthen the self-directed learning ability of mathematics subjects in the electronic engineering curriculum. Consequently, through a survey, we would like to propose the establishment of an educational system necessary for the 4th industry by analyzing learning ability through self-directed learning teaching methods of subjects related to mathematics, probability, and statistics.

Expression types and characteristics of photomontage in the contemporary fashion (현대패션에 나타난 포토몽타주의 표현유형과 특성)

  • This study examined the expression mode and feature about photomontage indicated in the 21st century's Contemporary fashion. This intends to have better understanding on photomontage and to provide theoretical explanation to help a creative design development using photomontage in the future. For the research method, review over photomontage concept and its historical background was carried out with relevant literature and precedent studies. Then, analysis was followed about 258 pieces of photomontage application works featured in the four major global collections from 2001S/S to 2011F/W. Among types of photomontage expression in the Contemporary fashion, objects in the nature like animal, plant, scenery picture took up the highest frequency as motive. Other types appeared in the following order: the people-oriented type such as eminent person's figure or partial body, the ready-made image including diverse daily goods in the modern consumption society, a variety of printed stuff like cartoon, newspaper and magazine, the type of photomontage expression through borrowing the earlier famous art pieces or doing the cooperative work with artists in different fields, applications like architecture, land marks in many cities in the world, and interior, things assembled with various images, modified religious images in photomontage from Buddha or holy picture. Therefore, the modern fashion that uses photomontage could possibly feature popularity, naturalism, playfulness and creativity.

  • School is a basic and the most fundamental facility of city planning just like other basic public facilities including the village office. Every plan is established on the basis of school. However, the problems such as the population reduction resulting from the nuclear family-zation and low birth rate, employment and welfare of the aged people resulting from "the old aged society", and the infant nursing and education resulting from a rapid increase of the working couples become notable and accordingly more requirements are being made. Reflecting this trend, the concept and operation system should be changed. Up to now, the BTL projects of the educational facilities are gaining a reputation of being efficient in terms of national budget running, but at the same time receiving negative reputation in terms of budget saving under the civil creativity and efficiency. Through upgrading the private sector investment projects into the BTO+BTL system and further into the BTO(Build Transfer Operate), we can accomplish the original goals of the private sector investment projects, and can make the education budget operation more efficient, and can greatly improve the education environments. However, we should not underestimate in this process that these facilities should not negatively affect the education environments. In any situation, the owners of schools are students.

  • This thesis aims to present how to make secure the identity of the brand with enhancing the esthetic expression of the brand and making the ways of emotional communication in variety, through investigating closely the case of Prada representative of the typical brands that have established the unique identity by cooperating the fashion with culture and art through their ingenious and consistent efforts. In the conclusion, the culture and art was found to be applied in two fields i.e. one of design and the other of marketing. In terms of the design, the method of inserting the image into the surface of the clothing and accessories was used. In the context, the illustration techniques, photographic patterns and applying the image of the art piece could be summarized to be used. In terms of marketing, the sponsorship of the art and exhibitions, look books, animations and fashion films, epicenter, the collaboration with the other kinds of enterprise, could be regarded as four ways of the approaches. The innovation and creativity, futuristic hybrid, nonprofit support of the art, the integration and consistency of the image of the arts could be concluded to be four major points defining the characteristics of the Prada renowned for the use of the culture and arts to its property.
