Roles of Character Identification and Positive Emotion Response on Intent to Purchase Character-Attached Product (캐릭터가 부착된 제품의 구매의도에 대한 캐릭터 동일시와 긍정감정반응의 역할)

  • Purpose - Present study investigates character identification and emotional response to character that may affect consumers' intention to purchase the character-attached products. And this study explores whether symbolic relevance and object relevance affect the character identification, and whether character attractiveness and character salience affect the emotional response to characters. Research design, data, and methodology - SNS characters, animated characters, game characters, and traditional characters were used as experimental characters. And stationery as experimental product was used. 250 college students participated in the empirical study, and structural equation model was used to verify hypotheses. Results - First, the character identification and emotional response to characters affected the intention to purchase the products positively, and the emotional response to characters also positively affected character identification; second, symbolic relevance had no positive impact upon character identification, while object relevance had positive influence on character identification; and third, character attractiveness and salience had a positive effect on the emotional response. Conclusions - Present study contributes to the progress of character theories. Marketers should find ways to increase consumers' object relevance to characters and the level of characters' attractiveness and salience in order to promote the intent to purchase the products.

  • This study focuses on the criteria for lessons that develop secondary students' creativity and character in mathematics classes. Literature used in this study is related to the future direction of education (e.g., Core competencies, Information and Communication Technology, Constructivism education) and intent of the revised mathematics curriculum. Lesson criteria for developing students' creativity and character include educational content associated with the real-world contexts, use of tools and resources, active participation and interaction, problem-solving skills, teachers' attitudes, and the classroom environment. This study suggests ways to implement mathematics lessons that build students' creativity and character.

Feature Combination and Selection Using Genetic Algorithm for Character Recognition (유전 알고리즘을 이용한 특징 결합과 선택)

  • By using a combination of different feature sets extracted from input character patterns, we can improve the character recognition system performance. To reduce the dimensionality of the combined feature vector, we conduct the feature selection. This paper proposes a general framework for the feature combination and selection for character recognition problems. It also presents a specific design for the handwritten numeral recognition. Tn the design, DDD and AGD feature sets are extracted from handwritten numeral patterns, and a genetic algorithm is used for the feature selection. Experimental result showed a significant accuracy improvement by about 0.7% for the CENPARMI handwrittennumeral database.

An Analysis on Game Character Product Design Preferences among Kidults for Extending Mobile Game Lifespans (모바일 게임의 수명 연장을 위한 키덜트의 게임 캐릭터 상품 디자인 선호도에 대한 분석)

  • Over the recent years, there has been a sudden surge in interest over character-related products among mobile game developers in South Korea as a business strategy to extend mobile game lifespans. However, even with the majority of mobile game players aging around 18~35 and higher, there has been a lack of study regarding design preferences and consumption tendencies of adult players-or kidults-when it comes to character-related products. In this study, three distinctive decision patterns among kidults were identified using an online Q-Sort method: (a) Character Oriented, (b) Item Oriented, and (c) Character-item Oriented. The similarities and differences of these three types are further analyzed to provide insight into important factors that play decisive roles in purchasing decisions made by kidults. The results from this study can aid mobile game developers in establishing reference points for future character business directions.

  • In this paper, the design of a VLSI-based multilayer neural network is presented, which can be used as a dedicated hardware for character-type segmentation and character-element recogniti on consuming large processing time in conventional software-based Hangul printed-character recognition systems. Also the architecture and its design of a neural coprocessor interfacing the neural network with a host computcr and controlling thc neural network are presented. The architecture, behavior, and performance of the proposed neural coprocessor are justified using VHDL modeling and simulation. Experimental results show the successful rates of character-type segmentation and character-element recognition is competitive to those of software-based Hangul printed-character recognition systems with retaining high-speed.

This thesis aims to study on the character of 'namsadang' group what have been produced in ansung-si, that the show up to people about an-sung 4D Contents what local actually character and to make it more competitive through 3D,4D spacial character project developing process. It is need for new various characters, that (3D,4D-VFX) -Graphics of new an-sung'namsadang' group. that will be total different and new development. total VFX; 4-Dimantion visual graphics released in next an-sung local festival, Business prospects are bright and receiving benefits are increasing. As seen in the case of the character of in 2015, it can be a measure to earn benefits as a higher value-added business if it is managed in the local autonomous entities. In this thesis, I propose what the of character in the local special graphics; VFX style characters design. also I was show up to '4D contents character;' ; 'namsadang' group; creative processing including planing. It is possible to be ranged from special 4D series animation, a feature-length special effct cartoon film, character products, and even local doom Theme parks show up film. which are all expected high profits. These profits will be returned back to the an-sung local autonomous entity, who can use them to develop new contents, one of foundations in local economy. As a result, it is helpful to make local traits and effective tourist attractions.

  • ICT is still lacking relevant studies and efforts even though it needs to be accompanied by character education. Against this backdrop, this study has developed and operated an education program that combines ICT with character education and conducted surveys on its accomplishments. The research findings are as follows. The analysis of theme-based correlations has revealed that individual's character has not significantly affected character for others and global character and that building character for others have made a significant impact on establishing global character with a high level of correlations. Therefore, I have found that a program involving a group of people together such as team-based task has a positive effect on fostering problem-solving talents with global leadership. It is hard to obtain tangible results in character education in a short period of time but I would like to contribute to laying the foundation for cultivating and fostering talents equipped with global leadership while respecting oneself and caring for others in everyday life through these classes. There is a study on convergence of character education and different subjects, left behind of this study.

Characteristics of Character Costume in the Theme Park (테마파크 캐릭터 코스튬의 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to research on concept, consisting factors, and specialties of theme park' character costumes to understand better about character costumes as well as to establish fundamental research data. The characteristics of character costumes in the theme park are as follows. First, theme park' character costumes are personified so that visitors may feel friendly and have emotional communication with them. Specially, costume that anthropomorphize an animal(85.3%) and silhouette of lozenge style(86.8%) dominated the highest weight. Animal figures are walking upright and wearing human's clothes. They communicate with visitors using mime actions. Second, various types of body proportion is applied to highlight the characteristics of character costume. Most character costumes are applied with unrealistic body proportion. This unrealistic body proportion give abnormal image and looks funny. The important factor is size of their head. Especially, 3.5 body proportion(78.9%) is general. Third, simplification, exaggeration, shrinkage, and modification are other factors. Simplification is applied differently by parts. Pocket, collar details are simplified to clarify the character's image. More simplification can lead to ommission. For their head, peculiar parts look stand out but other parts are simplified to stress their characteristics. Exaggeration is used with shrinkage to give strong impression to visitors. Forms are broken intentionally and they are modified. They look impressive because they are not harmonized. It is unexpected image and induces humor and familiar feelings. Matter of stylization includes exaggeration, shrinkage, modification and movement of actors that have tangible factor of character costume.

  • The purpose of this study was known the animation history, function of the animation character, the development process of the animation industry, and the industry process of the animation character in the center of the animation character of America and Japan occupying the internal character market largely. Also, it was examined how the animation character was used in the fashion industry and was recognized the importance of the character industry, and it was seen the design development of the fashion character in the future and the proceeding method of the fashion marketing strategy. The following this study was examined by using the various newspaper and magazine, the internal and external reference. In the result of this study, the animation character created in the TV and the screen is extended the related industry and is developed the various cultural products, and it is recognized as the product of the highly added value. The internal animation characters are mostly the characters of America and Japan, but now the internal animation productions is recognized the importance of the animation industry and is producted the animation to attack the internal and external market. The potential of the animation character was really excessive. The excellent animation product was important but the animation character and the activity of the accompaniment industry related to it was important. Also the animation character mostly had influence on the fashion industry.
