This paper introduces feedback linearization (FL) based adaptive sliding mode control (ASMC) effective against ground effects of the quadrotor UAV. The proposed control has the capability of estimation and effective rejection of those effects by adaptive mechanism, which resulting stable attitude and positioning of the quadrotor. As output variables of quadrotor, x-y-z position and yaw angle are chosen. Dynamic extension of the quadrotor dynamics is obtained for terms of roll and pitch control input to be appeared explicitly in x-y-z dynamics, and then linear feedback control including a ground effect is designed. A sliding mode control (SMC) is designed with a class of FL including higher derivative terms, sliding surfaces for which is designed as a class of integral type of resulting closed loop dynamics. The asymptotic stability of the overall system was assured, based on Lyapunov stability methods. It was evaluated through some simulation that attitude control capability is stable under excessive estimation error for unknown ground effect and initial attitude of roll, pitch, and yaw angle of $30^{\circ}$ in all. Effectiveness of the proposed method was shown for quadrotor system with ground effects.
This work is concerned with the estimation of output derivatives and their use for the design of robust controller for linear systems with systems uncertainties due to modeling errors and disturbance. It is assumed that a nominal transfer function model and quantitative bounds for system uncertainties are known The developed control schemes are shown to achieve regulation of the system output and ensures boundedness of the system states without imposing any structural conditions on system uncertainties and disturbances. Output derivative estimation is first conducted trough restructuring of the plant in a specific parameterization. They are utilized for constructing robust nonlinear high-gain feedback controller of a SMC(Sliding Mode Controller)Type. The performances of the developed controller are evaluated and shown to be effective and useful through simulation study.
We propose an improvement of particle swarm optimization (PSO) based on the stabilization of particle movement (PM). PSO uses a stochastic variable to avoid an unfortunate state in which every particle quickly settles into a unanimous, unchanging direction, which leads to overshoot around the optimum position, resulting in a slow convergence. This study shows that randomly located particles may converge at a fast speed and lower overshoot by using the proportional-integral-derivative approach, which is a widely used feedback control mechanism. A benchmark consisting of representative training datasets in the domains of function approximations and pattern recognitions is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed PSO. The final outcome confirms the improved performance of the PSO through facilitating the stabilization of PM.

This note considers the $H^{\infty}$ controller design problem for linear systems with time-varying delays in states. We obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of k-th order $H^{\infty}$ controllers in terms of three linear matrix ineualities(LMIs). These sufficient conditions are dependent on the maximum value of the time derivative of time-varying delay. Furthermore, we briefly explain how to construct such controllers from the positive definite solutions of their LMIs and give an example.e.
A controller using a multilayer neural network is proposed to the dynamic control of a PUMA 560 robot arm. This controller is developed based on an error back-propagation (BP) neural network. Since the neural network can model an arbitrary nonlinear mapping, it is used as a commanded feedforward torque generator. A Proportional Derivative (PD) feedback controller is used in parallel with the feedforward neural network to train the system. The neural network was trained by the current state of the manipulator as well as the PD feedback error torque. No a priori knowledge on system dynamics is needed and this information is rather implicitly stored in the interconnection weights of the neural network. In another experiment, the neural network was trained with the current, past and future positions only without any use of velocity sensors. Form this thim window of position values, BP network implicitly filters out the velocity and acceleration components for each joint. Computer simulation demonstrates such powerful characteristics of the neurocontroller as adaptation to changing environments, robustness to sensor noise, and continuous performance improvement with self-learning.
This paper proposes a simple and intuitive model-free torque-tracking control for rotary electro-hydraulic actuators. The undesirable natural-velocity-feedback effect is discussed by introducing mechanical impedance into the electro-hydraulic actuation system. The proposed model-free torque control comprises inner- and outer-loop control to achieve two control objectives. Inner-loop control reduces the mechanical impedance passively and optimally. To improve the tracking accuracy, a certain form of proportional-integral-derivative control is applied to the outer loop. The robustness of the proposed closed-loop system against external disturbances is demonstrated by transforming the two-loop control structure into a disturbance observer form. The proposed method is validated on a single joint electro-hydraulic actuator.
The phase-locked loop technique developed in the 1930's has many advantages when applied to speed control. The speed control and analysis of a three phase induction motor using the PLL are described in this paper. In this system, the phase frequency detector (PFD) compares the actual motor speed from the pulses received from a shaft encoder and desired speed, and the difference adjusts the frequency of the inverter that feeds the motor, and excellent speed regulation in the order of 0.035(%) has been-obtained. A linear continuous model of the drive is developed and system response is analysed using conventional root locus techniques. Various compensating filters and feedback signals are considered and the need for addition of derivative feedback is shown. A sampled data model is used to study the effects of discrete PFD output. Stability limitson speed are predicted. A drive was implimented and experimental results are presented to verify theoretical predictions.

We present in this paper the stabilization (tracking) with motion planning of the six independent configurations of a mini unmanned areal vehicle equipped with four streamlined rotors. Naturally, the yaw-dynamic can be stabilized without difficulties and independently of other motions. The remaining dynamics are linearly approximated around a small roll and pitch angles. It will be shown that the system presents a flat output that is likely to be useful in the motion generation problem. The tracking feedback controller is based on receding horizon point to point steering. The resulting controller involves the lift (collective) time derivative for what flatness and feedback linearization are used. Simulation tests are performed to progress in a region with approximatively ten-meter-buildings.
The velocity control of hydraulic servo system with heavy load and large capacity was investigated through the linear analysis and digital computer simulation. Each part of the nonlinear hydraulic servo system was mathmatically modelled. The result of linear analysis and computer simulation showed that the use of derivative of load pressure as a feedback signal is effective in velocity control.
This paper presents a new PID control scheme based on the feedback of averaged derivatives to realize a noise-free differential control. The PID(Proportional, Integral and Differential) control is still one of the control methods in most wide use. In the paper, the conventional PID control adopting filtering technique is analyzed with new interpretation of filtering function. In order to overcome the drawbacks of the conventional PID control, this paper introduces the feedback of averaged derivatives in the noisy environment, and suggests a new PID control scheme using delay components to realize a noise-free differential control. The proposed PID control yields good performance much similar to the original system response in case of no noises. The proposed control scheme has been tested for the load frequency control of power systems.
