  • In recent deregulation and competitive power market environment, electric utilities plan and operate their systems for economic benefit with secure system condition. Therefore, implementation of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices can be planned for the efficient utilization of the present system facility. This paper presents a technique to solve the problem about optimal allocation of FACTS devices far the purpose of enhanced system operation.

  • This paper proposes a value-based pricing suitable for deregulation situation in electricity market, where the value is measured based on the service quality such as system reliability. The proposed approach makes it possible to maximize social welfare, in that diversified service can produce the optimal combination set of demand and supply. The proposed pricing can also be applied to a direct load control.

  • Highly Integrated Total Energy System for system operational planning and analysis is a totally integrated computerized system for various parts of power system operation planning and power system analysis. It is developed by KEPCO for about 8 years, named HITES. Nowadays restructuring, deregulation, privatization and competition of electricity market is introduced in the world. This paper describes HITES application for two typical models of a competitive electricity market.

  • Recently, electric industry confront a strategical change and high competiveness environment in the course of deregulation. Especially, rapid growth in electricity demand, financial need for new power plant construction, and environmental problems have led to search for more efficient energy production and energy conservation technologies in Korea. Due to the potential energy and cost savings, DSM(Demand-Side Management) plays and important role in the electric resource planning. In this paper, we suggest DSM potential evaluation procedures and algorithm. Also, we present screening analysis methods for DSM potential evaluation.

  • This study is to investigate what are major determinants to decide the level of HSR(High-Speed Railroad)'s fare rate in Korea. The study suggests that for the independent operation of the HSR, the fare rate be charged based on the profitability and for the increase in the demand, various discount programs be needed. In addition, in order to operate HSR independently, the HSR fare rate must be charged in the deregulation of the government.

  • This paper studies the outcome of the privitization policy which have been proceed for the railway reform in Japan. In addition, we examine the current problems of privitization policy and propose the direction of the policy in the future. In conclusion the privitization policy in Japan railway leave much to be desired in the point of competition, deregulation. debt and employment. We will have to examine these points. And We will consider the merits and demerits of Japan' case in Korean railway privitization.

  • One of the major challenges confronting a multiservice electric utility is the establishment of the right prices, for its services. The key objectives of particular pricing schemes are reasonableness of company earnings. Economic efficiency, the responsiveness of supply and of the allocation of sources to the desires of consumers, and maintenance of some degree of competition. This paper proposes a value-based pricing mechanism amenable to the current deregulation situation in electricity market allowing service differentiation. The proposed pricing mechanism can be implemented ina nodal auction model, and can also be applied to direct load control.
