  • The Purpose of this study is to get basic material about voluntary association in local community and its utilization. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, it was considered that trust of social capital plays a leading part in voluntary association to maintain or strengthen its role and activities. For this reason we attempt to find the process of trust building in voluntary association. The revised ground theory that is complementary weaknesses of ground theory is used in this study and in 11months, four times researches have investigated. As a result, it was analyzed that the structure of building trust can be categorized into three structure, building up relationship, dynamic interaction and structural stabilization in voluntary association. In the space that is structured spatially and temporal, role, activity, accomplishment, attitude, conflict and environment acted as basic attributes. These attributes can be found in every building process of trust and influence on continuance and growth of voluntary association. The fact that this study offers in-depth understanding of voluntary association and empirical directivity regarding the community welfare services is of great significant.

  • In the present study, numerical analysis was performed for hydrodynamic motion and structural performance on four different concrete floating structures, which have same cross-section but different length. The hydrodynamic analysis of floating structures is carried out using ANSYS AQWA with the different 34 wave load on regular wave period from three seconds to ten seconds in 35 m water depth. In order to evaluate structural performance of floating structures under the critical wave load which obtained from hydrodynamic analysis. The integrated analysis is also carried out through the mapping method, which can directly connect the wave-induced hydraulic pressure obtained form ANSYS AQWA to Finite Element Model in ANSYS Mechanical. As a results of this study, the hydrodynamic motion of floating structures is decreased as the length of structure increased. It means that the effect of wave-structure interaction is strongly dependent on the relationship between a wave period and a length of structure. Moreover, it is found that tension stress on bottom slab of floating structure is occurred by the critical wave load, the sectional force is not influenced by length of a structure.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine parents' mental model of media environment and children's media use and to provide some educational suggestions. For this purpose, twelve parents of second-graders to fourth-graders sampled in elementary schools were interviewed with three activities such as a word-association experiment, a sentence completion task and a in-depth interview. The result was categorized into 8 elements such as interaction, source of supply and adverse effects. Furthermore, the analysis on the mental model of media use shows that firstly, the parents understand modern media reflects competence while they have a feeling of fear and newness on media themselves. Secondly, the parents show an ambivalent understanding on media use in terms of both negative and positive effects and have a tendency to control them. Another finding is the fact that the parents understand digital media as a representation of both connection and disconnection. Also, the parents realize media as a cause of conflict and as a place for reconciliation as well. Finally, it is showed that media is not only a personal territory but also a part of social system in the parents' understanding. Based on these findings, some interpretations and parents' educational applications are provided in terms of the Meyrowitz(1998; 1999)'s three perspectives on media.

  • In this study, we developed an analogy-generating strategy and applied this to a 7th grade science-gifted class. The types of analogies they generated, verbal interactions and analogy-generating patterns, and perceptions of five groups on the analogy-generating strategy were examined. The analyses of the results revealed that there was a higher proportion of the elaborated analogies in terms of quality generated by science-gifted students individually in the analogy-generating strategy than in general analogy-generating activity. After having small group activities, most small groups generated the elaborated analogies. The frequencies and percentages of verbal interactions of each sub-stage were found to be slightly different. Analogy-generating patterns in small groups were categorized into three types; selecting in-depth source, selecting inclusive source, and selecting surficial source. The elaborating patterns of mapping between a target concept and analogies were different among the types. Science-gifted students positively perceived in terms of its values and attitudes toward the analogy-generating strategy, and they responded that the analogy-generating strategy was helpful in generating more elaborated analogies and fostering creative thinking. Therefore the analogy-generating strategy is expected to generate positive impact on the creativity of science-gifted students.

  • In the modern economic area of service-based logic, the importance of the service industry continues to increase. Yet in spite of the various promotional policies of the government, growth remains at a standstill. It is now time to turn away from the outwardly visible form of the issue and to contemplate its root cause. This study thus investigated the service essentials based on philosophical thought in order to secure the continuous growth and competitive advantage of a service industry with an unshakable foundation. The effect of service essentials on job performance by service industry was also empirically analyzed. To conduct the study, a research hypothesis was verified by using the final 900 copies of survey data for service industry workers for data analysis. The results of the study on service essentials showed that interaction and harmony were found to have a positive effect on job performance in the transportation industry, while it verified the positive effects on job performance for interactivity and horizontality in the finance and insurance industry, and interactivity, horizontality and harmony in the hotel and resort industries. As a result, it was confirmed that service essentials had a partial effect on performance in the service industry. Various and in-depth studies on service essentials are thus required in the future, and it is also necessary to expand the parameters or adjustment variables that are capable of affecting performance.

  • An analysis method is proposed for the transient linear or nonlinear analysis of dynamic interactions between a flexible dam body and reservoir impounding compressible water under earthquake loadings. The coupled dam-reservoir system consists of three substructures: (1) a dam body with linear or nonlinear behavior; (2) a semi-infinite fluid region with constant depth; and (3) an irregular fluid region between the dam body and far field. The dam body is modeled with linear and/or nonlinear finite elements. The far field is formulated as a displacement-based transmitting boundary in the frequency domain that can radiate energy into infinity. Then the transmitting boundary is transformed for the direct coupling in the time domain. The near field region is modeled as a compressible fluid contained between two substructures. The developed method is verified and applied to various earthquake response analyses of dam-reservoir systems. Also, the method is applied to a nonlinear analysis of a concrete gravity dam. The results show the location and severity of damage demonstrating the applicability to the seismic evaluation of existing and new dams.

  • This study explores the process of transitional career choice for North Korean defectors who are successfully living their lives after transition to a different system labor market. To achieve this study purpose, what is the process of transitional career choice for North Korean defectors due to the system transition? At present, he (Ed- who is he?) has a subjective sense of success in his professional life and conducted in depth interviews with three men and eight women as objects that can explain the process of experience in rich and detailed ways. To this end, the author interviewed three men and eight women who are satisfied with their current job and analyzed them with the grounded theory method proposed by Strauss & Corbin (1998). As a result, the paradigm model was derived from the central phenomenon of 'conversion of perspective', and the core category was 'conversion of perspective and challenge new career'. The transitional career choice process was derived into four stages according to the flow of time and interaction as 'reality recognition stage', 'active change recognition stage', 'support and coping strategy stage', and 'growth stage' and positive reflections from transitional learning and potential factors of planned chance skills were found.

  • In recent years, artistic programs considering both physical and psychological changes in old age have been implemented in various fields. These programs include participatory activities such as painting, play, singing, photography, dance, cartoon animation and so on. It is known that culture and art education programs lead people to emotional growth and social interaction. In particular, culture and art education for the elderly tends to affect positively on the quality of life. However, there are still lack of teaching methods and curriculums in the filed. It is considered that cartoon has a great potential as a teaching method of culture and art education for elderly. This study aims to discuss ways to vitalize the role of cartoon using the qualitative data of four elderly participants in culture and art education programs. The case study analyses reveled that cartoon program for the elderly not only plays a role to make their daily lives more enthusiastic but also provides a social passage to communicate to world. The Cartoon program designed for the elderly was a tool to reveal their inner world to others, and shed new light on their past memories, and long for the precious moments in life. At the same time, it was a meaningful time to lessen the depth of loneliness in old age, and even to heal their physical disability and emotional conflicts. The hardest part of drawing an cartoon was when it did not turn out as they wished. Based on the study results, the researchers explored the therapeutic usefulness of cartoon for the elderly, and discussed the ways to activate it in the field of elderly welfare.

  • Since the first construction of soil nailing in France in 1972, the application of soil nailing has increased. However, there is currently no design method which is universally accepted or agreed upon far soil nailed wall, because each of the design methods has different assumptions and, therefore, different approaches, moreover, since the suggested optimal inclination angles of nails are different by researchers. Therefore, the effect of nail inclination with soil nailing is analyzed by FEM. In this study, Finite element program SOILSTRUCT was applied for the effect analysis of nail inclination in soil nailed wall. For this finite element analysis, CEBTP No. 1 project data were used. The analyzed nail inclination ranged from 0$^{\circ}$ to 30$^{\circ}$ with 5$^{\circ}$ intervals. The result of finite element analysis showed that the most optimal inclination was 20$^{\circ}$ Also, the tension farce in the nails increased as the nail inclination increased. However, the effect of nail inclination on the wall deformation was very little. Therefore, constructability seems to be more important than nail inclination. Also, the tension force in the nails increases as the nail depth below the top of the wall increases, except f3r the lowest nail. Therefore, appropriate nail diameter should be used to prevent breakage of nails with considering nail strength-deformation interaction.

  • Artificial neural networks are algorithms that simulate learning through interaction and experience in neurons in the brain and that are a method that can be used to produce accurate results through learning that reflects the characteristics of data. In this study, a model using deep neural network was presented to improve the predicted wind speed values in the meteorological dynamic model. The wind speed prediction improvement model using the deep neural network presented in the study constructed a model to recalibrate the predicted values of the meteorological dynamics model and carried out the verification and testing process and Separate data confirm that the accuracy of the predictions can be increased. In order to improve the prediction of wind speed, an in-depth neural network was established using the predicted values of general weather data such as time, temperature, air pressure, humidity, atmospheric conditions, and wind speed. Some of the data in the entire data were divided into data for checking the adequacy of the model, and the separate accuracy was checked rather than being used for model building and learning to confirm the suitability of the methods presented in the study.
