  • This study was designed to understand the residential experience of Korean women living in tropical country. For qualitative research, interviewees were selected by snowball sampling among Korean women living in Malaysia for over 20 years. The selection criteria for interviewees included husband's nationality, occupational experience, future living plan, frequency of travel to Korea. In-depth group and individual interviews were conducted from August 23 to October 7 2014. Subsequently (1) interviewees' general residential experiences in Malaysia were summarized, (2) interviewee's identity and lifestyle with housing pathways approach were clarified, (3) interviewees' residential experiences in 5 issues, reciprocity in residential area, intention of environmental change, meaning of housing and interaction, housing adaptation, and residential satisfaction/dissatisfaction were prescribed and interpreted. In conclusion, the reflection of interviewees' experiences in tropical country, suggested variations of housing structure type within a residential complex, air well and pocket by setback in building block for improving ventilation and noise prevention from neighbors, and ceiling fans in the house were suggested for the upcoming subtropical climate in Korea. Full option and minus options were also suggested for the presale market to reduce before occupancy remodeling needs. The research results implies valuable suggestions for a multicultural society, ecological housing and stronger communities.

  • This study focuses on users of activity tracking technologies and their related information behavior. How useful is the provided information by the trackers? Do users understand all information and explanations? We conducted a web-based survey. All in all, 631 users of a tracking device filled out the survey. From the perspective of information science, this investigation aims to analyze information needs considering different types of the provided information by activity tracking technologies. Are users satisfied by using the information on their steps, heart rates, and sleep duration? How do users assess readability about heart rate zones and sleep stages? Additionally, we investigated if users understand how to reflect on and adapt their health behavior based on the received explanations. According to the results, users mainly agree that the received information (raw data as well as - to a lesser extent - aggregated data in the form of corresponding diagrams) is useful, that the explanations are easy to understand, and that they know how to use this obtained information. This investigation enables an in-depth insight into how users are applying the self-quantifying activity and health information and which information needs are satisfied.

Research participants were selected 6 water sports mania by reputational sampling method. Six participants who usually participated in water sports club were selected as research participants. The data for this study included participants' observation and in-depth interview. This study categorized the coding paradigm which was presented by using the findings derived from data as they were into casual condition, contextual element, central phenomenon, critical situation, mediative element, interaction, final result and core category to draw out the process of becoming a water sports mania and its significances. The results of were as follows. First, water sports mania recognized the environmentally safe pleasure and value. Second, water sports mania was in a race against myself. Third, water sports mania felt the social and environmental changes. Fourth, water sports mania was looking for alternative method. Fifth, water sports mania overcome physical limitations and liberation from fear of water. Lastly, water sports mania felt alive through the enthusiastic participation.

  • This study was to explore the living experiences of the disabled adults who were participating in public education Yahak program held at evening class. The study designed in-depth interviews with ten disabled people using a grounded theory approach. Through analyzing process, 34 concepts, 15 subcategories, and eight categories were deduced. In axial coding, casual condition, 'Suffering from unknown cause disabilities' and 'Isolated by social cause', context condition, 'Taking discriminative treat for disabilities' impacted on phenomenon, 'Overcoming their conditions by themselves'. Intervening conditions was 'Taking social supports' and action-interaction condition, 'Enjoying public programs' totally lead to consequence in 'Controlling daily life' and 'Exploring their own social roles'. The periods of process were divided three stages, reflecting disabled situation, formation phase of social relation, and self-developing phase. The core category, 'Trying to be recognized as a member of society' incorporated the relationship between and among all categories and explained the process. The study indicates that social education program for the disabled helped to develop themselves as a member of society. Therefore, we suggest there may be a need for training for professionals who work with disabled people to develop social adaptation.

  • Atomically thin two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials, including transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), graphene, boron nitride, and black phosphorus, have opened up new opportunities for the next generation optoelectronics owing to their unique properties such as high absorbance coefficient, high carrier mobility, tunable band gap, strong light-matter interaction, and flexibility. In this review, photodetectors based on 2D nanomaterials are classified with respect to critical element technology (e.g., active channel, contact, interface, and passivation). We discuss key ideas for improving the performance of the 2D photodetectors. In addition, figure-of-merits (responsivity, detectivity, response speed, and wavelength spectrum range) are compared to evaluate the performance of diverse 2D photodetectors. In order to achieve highly reliable 2D photodetectors, in-depth studies on material synthesis, device structure, and integration process are still essential. We hope that this review article is able to render the inspiration for the breakthrough of the 2D photodetector research field.

  • Based on the eigenfunction expansion method, the interaction between monochromatic waves and a partially immersed slotted plate with a back wall has been investigated. Analytical results show that the reflection coefficients by a partially immersed slotted plate depend on the porosity, immersed depth, chamber width, incidence angle and wave frequency. It is found that the reflection coefficient has minimum value within entire frequency range when the porosity has optimal value 0.1. Comparison between the analytical results and the experimental results(Zhu,2001) of reflection coefficients is made for various chamber widths, immersed depths and wave periods with good agreement. The present analytic method can account adequately for energy dissipation caused by flow separation behind a slotted plate and provide the design informations for the construction of slit caisson breakwater.

  • In order to calculate reflection coefficients of surface waves due to underwater obstacles, the hybrid boundary integral equation method is used. Numerical results based on the linear element are verified to the exact solutions for a flat bottom. Reflection coefficient and transmission coefficients for a step are compared to Young's results and the results by EFEM (Kirby et al., 1987), in which reflection coefficients decrease to zero as the periods of incident waves decrease. Reflection coefficients for a sinusiodal hump located on a constant depth increase due to the interaction between humps.

  • The free-surface flow is simulated to make clear the viscous interaction of stem waves and the sub-breaking phenomena around a high speed vehicle. The Navier-Stokes equation is solved by a finite difference method where the body-fitted coordinate system, the wall function and the triple-grid system are invoked They are applied to study precisely on the stem flow of S-103 as to which extensive experimental data are available. Computations are extended to the submerged revolutional body. The numerical result shows that the gradient of M/Us is greatly influenced by the submerged depth And the stem wave is influenced by the separation due to the bow wave.

  • This paper shows the results of atomistic modeling for the Interaction between spherical nano abrasive and substrate In chemical mechanical polishing processes. Atomistic modeling was achieved from 2-dimensional molecular dynamics simulations using the Lennard-jones 12-6 potentials. We proposed and investigated three mechanical models: (1) Constant Force Model; (2) Constant Depth Model, (3) Variable Force Model, and three chemical models, such as (1) Chemically Reactive Surface Model, (2) Chemically Passivating Surface Model, and (3) Chemically Passivating-reactive Surface Model. From the results obtained from classical molecular dynamics simulations for these models, we concluded that atomistic chemical mechanical polishing model based on both Variable Force Model and Chemically Passivating-reactive Surface Model were the most suitable for realistic simulation of chemical mechanical polishing in the atomic scale. The proposed model can be extended to investigate the 3-dimensional chemical mechanical polishing processes in the atomic scale.
