  • Objective: The objective of the study is to analyze adult men's somatotype characteristics, age range from 20s to 50s comparing the direct anthropometric measurement values and to provide the basis information for developing clothing patterns. Background: The comparative study among the age groups is very fundamental to understand the body characteristics of each subjects group. Therefore, comparison of body measurements in age groups was applied in this study. Method: The anthropometric data from the $5^{th}$ Anthropometry of Size Korea(2004) and $6^{th}$ Anthropometry of Size Korea(2010) were applied for the data analysis. Results: As a result, the chest depth/chest width index(the value of chest depth divided by chest width) was increased and the waist depth/waist width index was decreased in all age groups. In addition, the hip depth/hip width index was decreased in age of 20's and 50's. This means that the chest width and hip width were decreased and the waist width were increased. From the data of the 5th Size Korea, the obese men(BMI: 25~30) in the 50s showed the highest percentage of 47.1%, and 44.8% of obese men(BMI: 25~30) in the 40s recorded the highest rate base on the data of the 6th Size Korea. Conclusion: It is concluded that the some differences were showed between the 5th anthropometric data and the 6th data. In particular, obesity tendencies of men in their 20's and 30's were observed significantly compared to other age groups. Application: These findings from the study can be utilized men's wear design and construction that reflect body characteristics.

  • The vulnerability of concrete to its environment is significantly dependent on the fact that concrete is a porous material. For well-consolidated and well-cured concrete, its service life is a very long and an entrance of aggressive substance might be only pores. However, for cracked concrete, cracks should be preferential channel for the penetration of aggressive substance such as chloride ions. The effect of crack on chloride penetration depends on its size for example, crack width and crack depth. The purpose of this study is examining the effect of crack width and crack depth on chloride penetration. In order to visualize chloride penetration via cracks, RCM (rapid chloride migration) testing is accomplished. Crack width is examined using an optical microscope and CMOD value is used to estimate average crack width. From the examination on the trend of chloride diffusion coefficients of concrete specimens with various crack widths, a critical crack width and a critical crack depth are found out.

  • Laser scribing of silicon plays an important role in metallization including the grid pattern and the front surface geometry which means aspect ratio of metal contacts. To make a front metal electrode of buried contact solar cell, we used ND:YAG lasers that deliver average 3-4W at TEM$\_$00/ mode power to sample stage. The Q-switched Nd:YAG laser of 1.064 gm wavelength was used for silicon scribing with 20-40.mu.m width and 20-200.mu.m depth capabilities. After silicon slag etching, the groove width and depth for buried contact solar cell are -20.mu.m and 30-50.mu.m respectively. Using MEL 40 Nd:YAG laser system, we can scribe the silicon surface with 18-23.mu.m width and 20-200.mu.m depth controlled by krypton arc lamp power, scan speed, pulse frequency and beam focusing. We fabricated a buried contact Silicon Solar Cell which had an energy conversion efficiency of 18.8 %. In this case, the groove width and depth are 20.mu.m and 50.mu.m respectively.

  • Stereolithography is the technique using a laser beam to cure a liquid resin, a photopolymer, with three dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) data. The build parameters of stereolithography such as beam size, scan velocity. hatch spacing, layer thickness and etc. are determined by the accuracy of prototype, the build time and the cured properties of the resin. In particular, beam size is important processing parameter fur the other parameters. Therefore, this study observed the cured property to beam size. For this purpose, according to hatch spacing and beam size, the cure width and depth were measured on single cured line. Also, the cure width and depth were measured at single cured layer As a result of experiments. cure depth which varied from 0.23mm to 0.34mm was directly proportioned to beam radius. on the other hand, cure width which varied from 0.42mm to 1.07mm was inversely proportioned to beam radius. Surface roughness varied from 1.12 to 2.23 m for the ratio of hatch spacing to beam radius.

  • The objectives of this study were to measure keratinized gingival thickness in healthy Korean adults, and to correlate the keratinized gingival thickness with width of keratinized gingiva, probing pocket depth and gingival recession.Thickness measurements were performed in 37 Korean dental students using an ultrasonic device(SDM). Width of keratinized gingiva, gingival recession and probing pocket depth were measured with a Williams periodontal probe. The results showed that the keratinized gingival thickness varied from 0.83 mm(canines) to 1.16 mm(central incisors) in the maxilla and, in the mandible, from 0.68 mm(1st premolars) to 1.69 mm(2nd molars). In a stepwise multiple linear regression analysis, 23% of variation of gingival thickness could be explained by width of keratinized gingiva and probing pocket depth. It could be concluded that the keratinized gingival thickness depends on tooth type and correlates with width of keratinized gingiva and probing pocket depth.

  • Cantilever sheet pile walls having section thinner than masonry walls are generally adopted to retain moderate height of excavation. In practice, a surcharge in the form of strip load of finite width is generally present on the backfill. So, in the present study, influence of strip load on cantilever sheet pile walls is analyzed by varying the width of the strip load and distance from the cantilever sheet pile walls using finite difference based computer program in cohesionless soil modelled as Mohr-Coulomb model. The results of bending moment, earth pressure, deflection and settlement are presented in non-dimensional terms. A parametric study has been conducted for different friction angle of soil, embedded depth of sheet pile walls, different magnitudes and width of the strip load acting on the ground surface and at a depth below ground level. The result of present study is also validated with the available literature. From the results presented in this study, it can be inferred that optimum behavior of cantilever sheet pile walls is observed for strip load having width 2 m to 3 m on the ground surface. Further as the depth of strip load below the ground surface increases below the ground level to 0.75 times excavation height, the bending moment, settlement, net earth pressure and deflection decreases and then remains constant.

  • In this paper, a method of detecting vehicle plates through depth pictures is proposed. A vehicle plate can be recognized by detecting the plane areas. First, plane factors of each square block are calculated. After that, the same plane areas are grouped by comparing the neighboring blocks to whether they are similar planes. Width and height for the detected plane area are obtained. If the height and width are matched to an actual vehicle plate, the area is recognized as a vehicle plate. Simulations results show that the recognition rates for the proposed method are about 87.8%.
