In this study, to provide the fundamental data on stable connection method for successful implants prosthesis, We fabricated the solder joint of gold alloy bar specimens by gas flame soldering method and laser welding and soldering method. It compared and studied the tensile strength of two soldering method by universal testing machine. The results using universal testing machine were as follow : The mean of tensile strength of solder joint bar in gas flame soldering method specimens was 363.89 $\pm$17.62 MPa, and the mean strength of laser welding and soldering method was 125.91 $\pm$ 19.66 MPa, so gas flame soldering method was better than laser welding and soldering method and the finding better way to improve tensile strength is needed in laser welding method. On weak loading condition and the part which is needed an accuracy, laser welding method is more effective and on long-span prosthesis and frequent chewing loading part, laser welding technique is recommended first and applying additional gas flame soldering technique would be better for making much more successful prosthesis.

Objective: Osseointegration is essential process for successful implants and effects to implant in long term, therefore, passive fitness of good prosthesis is necessary. To make a good prosthesis, at first it should be done a sectioned casting and then joined method of sectioned casting body is recommended. Methods: In this study, to provide the fundamental data on stable connection method for successful implants, the author tested fitness of casting body, and compared difference between gas soldering technique and laser welding technique. Results: In fitness test of 2 abutment (test A, C), gas soldering group's fitness in the opposite part of connection was worse than laser welding group. In fitness test of 3 abutment (test B, D), gap distance was increased both in gas soldering technique and laser welding technique. Gap distance at the connecting part and the opposite part of the abutment in gas soldering technique was worse than laser welding technique and the more additional abutment, the worse gap distance in gas soldering technique. In fitness test of 3 abutment (test B, D), there's little variation in No. 2 abutment when connecting soldering process was done and there's little influence on already soldered connection part when the additional soldering connection was done. Conclusion: On weak loading condition and the part which is needed an accuracy, laser welding technique is more effective and on long-span prosthesis and frequent chewing loading part, laser welding technique is recommended first and applying additional gas soldering technique would be better for making much more successful prosthesis.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the tensile strength and mechanical properties of orthodontic wire joints made by gas soldering and laser welding, with and without filling material, to identify the effectiveness and potential clinical application of laser welded orthodontic wires. Methods: Three joint configurations of orthodontic wire were used: diameter 0.9 to 0.9 mm wire, diameter 0.9 to 0.5 wire and diameter 0.9 mm wire to band. The joints were made using three different methods: gas soldering, laser welding with and without filling material. For each kind of joint configuration or connecting method 7 specimens were carefully produced. The tensile strengths were measured with a universal testing machine (Zwick/Roell, Instron, USA). The hardness measurements were carried out with a hardness tester(Future-Tech Co. Tokyo, Japan). Data were analyzed by AVOVA(p= .05) and Turkey HD test(p= .05). Results: In all cases, gas soldering joints were ruptured on a low level on tensile bonding strength. Significant differences between laser welding and gas soldering(p< .05) were found in each joint configuration. The highest tensile strength means were observed for laser welding, with filling material, of 0.9 to 0.9 mm wire joint. Conclusion: In conclusion, the elastic modulus and tensile strength means of laser soldering with filling material were the highest, and the tensile strength means of laser soldering were higher than those of gas soldering.
So far, I Conducted an examination with focus on the type, characteristic, and test methods of impact test. which is a type of mechanical that evaluate materials. As mentioned previously, in testing soldering strength of soldering is the load when the object under experiment is broken down with the result of flexibility test or peel test. In this method, a hevay load is necessary until alloy of parent metal is bended, if the alloy of the parent metal has a large mechanical quality(peel strength or resisting power). Once the alloy of the parent metal is bended, however, it tends to come into pieces abruply form the part where soldered. Therefore, a metal has a high breakdown value if the degree of strength of its parent metal is high even if the result of measurement indicates otherwise. Thus, the result of the test did not correspond to the clinical result. Therefore, this study concludes as the following from a test of strength of soldering by mean of conducting an impact test, which is a type of mechanical evaluation methods : 1. Among various impact tests, a charpy thpe is more appropriate than the izod type in testing strength of soldering. 2. As far as test piece is concerned, to use subsized impact test piece is appropriate in the impact test in that it does not have notch. 3. In the matter of analysis, it is appropriate to measure absorbing energy which results from rupture of test piece.
It's very important to find the most appropriate adhesion technique available, taking into consideration factors such as biocompatibility, non-corrosiveness, mechanical stability, etc. Laser welding is the best choice you can make because from a mechanical viewpoint, a laser welded surface has better particle structure than does a casted particle structure. Furthermore, it requires no additional material and the same metal alloy which is used when casting can be used. Therefore, the resulting mixture will consist of a single alloy, instead of utilizing different alloy combinations. Another benefit is the low economic cost. The most beneficial aspects of laser welding is that it is biologicallly friendlly, doesn't require soldering, can fuse different metal alloys together, and can weld on heat-sensitive spots(E.g. around resin or ceramic). A consistent strong pulse is possible. This technique is capable of welding on master models and creates accurate welds. It is capable of due to its stronger, non-corrosive microscope, which allows 25times magnification during the soldering process. This is possible because of its high stability from the tiny particle structure.
The auther performed this experimental study on cervical margin distortion in preheating method during soldering. 1. In soldering methods, the method using the furnace has less distortion than the method using open-flame and longer the bridge spon, the larger the distortions. 2. Table Ⅰ Showed that buccal margin, lingual margin, mesial margin and distal margin had respectively 0.01mm, 0.02mm, 0.03mm, 0.03mm closer adaptation in 3 unit bridge than in 5 unit bridges. 3. Table II showed that buccal margin, lingual margin, mesial margin and distal margin had respectively 0.06mm, 0.07mm, 0.11mm, 0.05mm closer adaptation in 3 unit bridge than in 5 unit bridges.
Flexion of a metal/ceramic fixed partial denture(EPD) frameworks under function can cause fracture of porcelain or deterioration of the cement seal. This study evaluated the flexion characteristics of three-unit mandibular FPD frameworks, repacing the second pre-molar under compressive load(200g, 400g). Testing was accompished with real-time holographic interferometry, using 6 porcelain fused-to metal frameworks. Tested alloys were non-precious alloy(Heracles, Holland), semi-precious alloy(Degudent U, Germany) and precious alloy(Degudent H, Germany). Changes of the fringe patterns according to the heat treatment(porcelain firing cycle), various loads(200g, 400g), occlusal forms(occlusal porcelain veneering, facial porcelain veneering), various alloys and post-soldering units were compared. Dental study model(Nissan dental products, Inc. D51DP-500A, Japan) and six 3-unit metal/ceramic fixed partial denture frameworks were used as experimental materials. 36 holograms were taken on fixed dental study model by using the 10mW He-Ne laser and real-time holographic interferometry. On the basis of this study, the following conclusions can be drawn : 1. In the frameworks for facial porcelain veneering, the semi-precious alloy framework was least deformed and precious alloy framework, non-precious alloy framework orderly before heat treatment, and the deformation was not shown great difference among three alloys after heat treatment and post-soldering. 2. In the frameworks for occlusal porcelain veneering, the precious alloy framework was greatest deformed and the deformation was not difference between semi-precious alloy framework and non-precious alloy framework before, after heat treatment, and the deformation was not shown great difference among three alloys after post soldering. 3. In the non-precious alloy frameworks for facial porcelain veneering and occlusal porcelain veneering, the deformation was greatly decreased after heat treatment and conversely increased after post-soldering. 4. In the semi-precious alloy framework for facial porcelain veneering, the deformation was not detectable after heat treatment and increased after post-solder. And in the frame-work for occlusal porcelain veneering, the deformation was slightly decreased after heat treatment and increased after post-soldering. 5. In the precious alloy framework for facial porcelain veneering, the deformation was greatly decreased after heat treatment and increased after post-soldering, And in the framework for occlusal porcelain veneering, the deformation was greatly decreased after heat treatment and decreased after post-soldering.
PURPOSE. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the accuracy of three techniques for correction of cast implant bars. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty cast implant bars were fabricated on a metal master model. All cast implant bars were sectioned at 5 mm from the left gold cylinder using a disk of 0.3 mm thickness, and then each group of ten specimens was corrected by gas-air torch soldering, laser welding, and additional casting technique. Three dimensional evaluation including horizontal, vertical, and twisting measurements was based on measurement and comparison of (1) gap distances of the right abutment replica-gold cylinder interface at buccal, distal, lingual side, (2) changes of bar length, and (3) axis angle changes of the right gold cylinders at the step of the post-correction measurements on the three groups with a contact and non-contact coordinate measuring machine. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and paired t-test were performed at the significance level of 5%. RESULTS. Gap distances of the cast implant bars after correction procedure showed no statistically significant difference among groups. Changes in bar length between pre-casting and post-correction measurement were statistically significance among groups. Axis angle changes of the right gold cylinders were not statistically significance among groups. CONCLUSION. There was no statistical significance among three techniques in horizontal, vertical and axial errors. But, gas-air torch soldering technique showed the most consistent and accurate trend in the correction of implant bar error. However, Laser welding technique, showed a large mean and standard deviation in vertical and twisting measurement and might be technique-sensitive method.
The purpose of this study was to investigate setting and thermal expansion of dental soldering investments. In order to compare expansion rates and to investigate the effect of water/powder ratio on expansion, setting and thermal expansion of low dental soldering investments were measured under three different water/powder ratio conditions. standard, 20% decreased and 20% increased. Setting expansion of investments was measured by use of dialgauge method. Each measurement was started two minutes later from the beginning of spatulation and recorded every one minute for one hour. Thermal expansion of cylindrical test specimens, 10mm diameter, 50mm length, was recorded in a thermodilatometer at heating rate of $10^{\circ}C$ per minute from $25^{\circ}C\;to\;700^{\circ}C$. The results of this study were obtained as follows: 1. Setting expansion rates under the standard water/powder ratio condition were 0.198% in Speed-E, 0.090% in Deguvest, 0.080% in CM and Hi-temp. Setting expansion of Speed-E was significantly different from those of CM, Deguvest and Hi-temp, and setting expansion of Deguvest was significantly different from those of CM and Hi-temp(p<.05). 2. Under the decreased water/powder ratio condition, there was significant increase in setting expansion of 4 dental soldering investments (p<.05). 3. There were no significant differences in setting expansions of investments except Hi-temp between standard and increased water/powder ratio condition(p<.05). 4. Thermal expansion rates under the standard water/powder ratio condition were 1.923% in Deguvest, 1.629% in Speed-E, 1.619% in Hi-temp and 1.580% in CM. No significant differences in thermal expansions under the standard water/powder ratio condition existed only between Speed-I and Hi-temp(p<.05) 5. Under the decreased water/powder ratio condition, there was significant increase in thermal expansion of CM and Deguvest but decrease in thermal expansion of Speed-E (p<.05). 6. Under the increased water/powder ratio condition, there was significant decrease in thermal expansion of CM, Deguvest and Speed-I but decrease in thermal expansion of Hi-temp(p<.05).
