Especially, the higher the duration of over 2 years the higher the age was, on married group had a significance. 2. The type of medical examination for samples was 27.6% of periodontal, 26.5% of conservative, 17.2% of prosthodontics, 10.9% of implant, and 7.9% of preventive in order. Especially, the male group the more the prosthodontics, implant had a significance. the higher the monthly income, on married group, the more the periodontal, prosthodontics and implant had a significance. 3. The motive of dental clinic selection was 38.4% of acquaintances' inducement, 33.4% of the superb treatment, 15.6% of easy convenience, and 7.0% of friendliness staff in order. Especially, male group the more the easy convenience, superb treatment, friendliness staff had a significance. 4. The mean of transportation in order to visit a dental clinic was 38.7% of public transportation, 37.5% of the own car, 23.8% of others in order. At the conclusion of this investigation, according to the conclusion of this investigation, the necessity of infection control education for dental hygienists and washing their gowns after caring infected patients affected the practice for infection prevention. They also well practiced the infection prevention working in dental hospital. To prevent infection in dental clinic, it is necessary to provide the continuing education programs for dental infection control to dental clinic worker.

  • Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate the knowledge and attitude toward radiation safety management in dental clinic worker. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 294 dental clinic workers in dental hospitals and clinics in Gwangju and Jeonnam from February 17 to March 30, 2014. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of radiation safety(8 questions), knowledge of radiation safety(15 questions), and attitudes of radiation safety(16 questions). The survey was done by Likert 5 scale method. Results: In completion of the radiodontia courses, 84.0% of the learners were female workers. 88.0% of the learners took the theoretical and practical courses. Those who work in the university dental hospital accounted for 87.1% and those in dental clinics accounted for 83.2%. Majority of the workers took on Leaden protective clothing in order to protect the thyroid gland. Male workers had more knowledge toward the radiation safety management than the female workers. The attitude toward the radiation safety management revealed the significant differences between age, gender, academic careers, license, clinical careers and the mean number of patients per day(p<0.05). Conclusions: The radiation safety management is very important in dental clinical workers and it is necessary to enhance the attitude toward the radiation safety through continuous education.

  • Inferior alveolar nerve block anesthesia is one of the most common procedures in dental clinic. Although it is well known as safe procedure, complications always can be occurred. Ocular complications such as diplopia, loss of vision, opthalmoplegia are very rare, but once it happens, dentist and patient can be embarrassed and rapport will be decreased between them. We experienced one diplopia case after inferior alveolar nerve block anesthesia and treated without any further complication. We report this case and describe the cause, diagnosis, and treatment objectives of diplopia caused by inferior alveolar nerve block anesthesia.

  • Dental treatment is often performed under general anesthesia or sedation when an intellectually disabled patient has a heightened fear of treatment or has difficulty cooperating. When it is impossible to control the patient due to the severity of intellectual disability, conscious sedation is not a viable option, and only deep sedation should be performed. Deep sedation is usually achieved by propofol infusion using the target controlled infusion (TCI) system, with deep sedation being achieved at a slightly lower concentration of propofol in disabled patients. In such cases, anesthesia depth monitoring using EEG, as with a Bispectral Index (BIS) monitor, can enable dental treatment under appropriate sedation depth. In the present case, we performed deep sedation for dental treatment on a 27-year-old female patient with mental retardation and severe dental phobia. During sedation, we used BIS and a newly developed Anesthetic Depth Monitor for Sedation (ADMS$^{TM}$), in addition to electrocardiography, pulse oximetry, blood pressure monitoring, and capnometry for patient safety. Oxygen was administered via nasal prong to prevent hypoxemia during sedation. The BIS and ADMS$^{TM}$ values were maintained at approximately 70, and dental treatment was successfully performed in approximately 30 min.

  • Ameloblastoma is the most frequently accuring odontogenic tumor in mouth. The biologic behavior of this neoplasm is locally invasive tumor with a high rate of recurrence. But in case of unicystic ameloblastoma, it was known that the neoplasm can be treated by marsupialization and the recurrence rate is lower. In our clinic, we tried to treat one of ameloblastoma cases by marsupialization and finished the treatment by enucleation via intra-oral approach with sagittal ramus osteotomy. This is a report of that case about 29 years old female patient.

  • To restore a tooth with a fracture line extending below the marginal bone level, a surgical crown lengthening procedure accompanied by ostectomy could be considered to expose the fracture line and reestablish the biologic width. However, this procedure could lead to esthetic failure, especially in the anterior teeth. Therefore, orthodontic extrusion, which elevates the fracture line from within the alveolar socket without sacrificing the supporting bone and gingiva, is recommended. This technique allows for the proper placement of the crown on a sound tooth structure, with the reestablishment of the biologic width. Alternatively, surgical extrusion is an one-step procedure that is simpler and less time-consuming than orthodontic extrusion; placing and adjusting the orthodontic appliance does not require multiple visits. This study presents successful restoration in 2 cases with a crown-tooth root fracture of the maxillary central incisor treated using a multidisciplinary approach through orthodontic extrusion or surgical extrusion followed by successful restoration.

  • The 2nd, 3rd, 4th 6th cranial nerve and the ophthalmic division of the 5th cranial nerve are derived from the optic foramen and superior orbital fissure. When these contents are attacked by a trauma the superior orbital fissure syndrome or the more severe orbital apex syndrome are onsetted. As their treatment we can consider the conservative treatment with the hypertonic solution and steroid. Also we can consider the more radical surgery. But their indications are debatable. As the emergency state the treatment plan requires rapid decision and very much considerations equaly. And the legal problems can be happened.

  • Dentally disabled person means one who have difficulty in cooperating voluntarily with a dentist for routine dental care. Seoul National University Dental Hospital (SNUDH) Dental Clinic for Disabled has worked for them under outpatient anesthesia concept. The aim of this study was to determine the anesthetic characteristics of the patients attending for dental treatment at SNUDH Dental Clinic for Disabled in order to establish better future treatment plans. The data were drawn from the patients who visited SNUDH Dental Clinic for Disabled from January 1999 to October 2002. Total 93 dental treatments for 83 patients were enrolled in this study. Most patients had mental retardation and the conservative treatments were carried out under general anesthesia. Thiopental and vecuronium were mostly used for induction agent and neuromuscular blocker, respectively. Enflurane, with oxygen and nitrous oxide, was mostly used to maintain the anesthesia. Mean total anesthetic time was $164.4{\pm}57.2$ minutes and mean duration at the post-anesthetic care unit was $106.2{\pm}50.5$ min. Serious postoperative complications were not observed. These results showed our successful anesthetic outcomes without any severe side effect or complication and the needs of more outpatient centers for dental care for disabled.
