PURPOSE. This study evaluated the shear bond strength between 3D printed provisional resin and conventional provisional resin depending on type of conventional provisional resin and different surface treatments of 3D printed resin. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Ninety-six disc-shaped specimens (Ø14 mm × 20 mm thickness) were printed with resin for 3D printing (Nextdent C&B, Vertex-Dental B. V., Soesterberg, Netherlands). After post-processing, the specimens were randomly divided into 8 groups (n=12) according to two types of conventional repair resin (methylmethacrylate and bis-acryl composite) and four different surface treatments: no additional treatment, air abrasion, soaking in methylmethacrylate (MMA) monomer, and soaking in MMA monomer after air abrasion. After surface treatment, each repair resin was bonded in cylindrical shape using a silicone mold. Specimens were stored in 37℃ distilled water for 24 hours. The shear bond strength was measured using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. Failure modes were analyzed by scanning electron microscope. Statistical analysis was done using one-way ANOVA test and Kruskal-Wallis test (α=.05). RESULTS. The group repaired with bis-acryl composite without additional surface treatment showed the highest mean shear bond strength. It was significantly higher than all four groups repaired with methylmethacrylate (P<.05). Additional surface treatments, neither mechanical nor chemical, increased the shear bond strength within methylmethacrylate groups and bis-acryl composite groups (P>.05). Failure mode analysis showed that cohesive failure was most frequent in both methylmethacrylate and bis-acryl composite groups. CONCLUSION. Our results suggest that when repairing 3D printed provisional restoration with conventional provisional resin, repair with bis-acryl composite without additional surface treatment is recommended.

Excessive teeth abrasion causes pathologic changes of oral environment and masticatory system due to decrease in occlusal vertical dimension. When establishing new occlusal plane and recovering vertical dimension, accurate diagnosis and analysis are essential. In this case, after appropriate centric relation in elevated vertical dimension was taken using Gothic arch tracer, full mouth rehabilitation was performed. A 70-year-old male patient had the chief complaint that he could not eat due to teeth wear. He showed generalized teeth wear and decreased vertical dimension. Elevation of vertical dimension was planned by model analysis. According to increased vertical dimension, centric relation was recorded using Gothic arch tracer and temporary prostheses were applied. Appropriate occlusion was established by temporary prostheses for 4 months. Final prostheses were fabricated using vertical dimension adapted by temporary prostheses. Through this procedure, satisfactory outcomes were achieved both in functional and esthetic aspects.
The friction characteristics of automotive brake friction materials that contained different ceramic content were investigated. Several kinds of raw materials, such as resin-based binder, reinforcing fiber, friction restraint, abrasive, and filling materials were mixed, pressed, and heated in order to make the brake friction materials. The contents of SiC and $BaSO_4$ changed from 5 vol% to 20 vol%, respectively. In addition to this, the content of $Al_2O_3$ adjusted from 1 vol% to 16 vol%. The surface morphology of the SiC containing sample appeared rough while more debris was observed when the contents of SiC increased. This implies that the SiC containing brake composite was not adequate for the automobile. However, the relatively smooth surface was observed in samples that contained the $Al_2O_3$. But the roughness was low with a content of 11 vol% $Al_2O_3$ compared to the other samples. This is consistent with the abrasive properties of the samples. In the case of $BaSO_4$ containing samples, the smoothes surface was observed in the contents of 15 vol% $BaSO_4$. Thus, it was concluded that the 11 vol% $Al_2O_3$ and 15 vol% $BaSO_4$ containing composite would be the optimum content for the brake composite. Similar to the results of the surface morphology, the abrasion resistance consistently decreased when the content of SiC increased. On the contrary, the sample that contained 11 vol% $Al_2O_3$ and 15 vol% $BaSO_4$ showed the highest abrasion resistance compared to the other samples.

Bartter syndrome is an inherited renal tubular disorder characterized by hypokalemia, hypochloremic metabolic alkalosis, hyperreninemia, hyperprostaglandinism, and normal blood pressure. Bartter syndrome is classified by neonatal and classic type. Clinical manifestation of Bartter syndrome considered in dental treatment include tendency to dehydration, vomiting and erosion, attrition and abrasion of the teeth. A 2-year-4 month old boy with Bartter syndrome type III was referred to the Seoul National University Dental Hospital for dental evaluation and treatment. He showed hypokalemic hypochloremic metabolic alkalosis and had been treated with indomethacin and potassium chloride. He had hypocalcified teeth with or without multisurface caries lesions in all dentition and the erosion of maxillary teeth was detected. Dental procedure under general anesthesia was scheduled due to multiple caries and his medical condition. The dental procedure was successfully performed. This case suggests that electrolyte imbalances need to be treated prior to dental treatment and complete coverage restoration is necessary to protect the eroded teeth. An appropriate management plan for the patients with Bartter syndrome should include considerations of the need for close interaction with the pediatrician for pre- and post-operative care. General anesthesia may be recommendable to manage the patients having multiple caries with Bartter syndrome.
Purpose: The aim of this research was to investigate difference in shear bond strengths of full-contour zirconia layered with porcelain. Methods: Disk-shaped (diameter: 12.0 mm; height: 3.0 mm) zirconia were randomly divided into six groups according to the surface conditioning method to be applied (N=90, n=15 per group): group 1-contol group(ZC); group 2-airborne particle abrasion with $50-{\mu}m\;Al_2O_3(5A)$; group $3-50-{\mu}m\;Al_2O_3$ + liner(5AL), group $4-110-{\mu}m\;Al_2O_3(1A)$; group $5-110-{\mu}m\;Al_2O_3$ + liner(1AL); group 6-liner(LC). On each block, zirconia porcelain was build up according to manufacturer's instructions. All samples were fixed with measuring jigs and shear bond strength were measured with Universal testing machine. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Sciences) Win 12.0 statistics program. Results: LC showed the highest value($29.92{\pm}2.55$ MPa) and ZC showed the lowest value($13.22{\pm}1.37$ MPa). Zirconia liner and Alumina oxide groups was significantly higher shear bond strength than control(p<0.05). 5A (without liner $22.18{\pm}2.37$, with liner $22.84{\pm}1.74$ MPa) was higher shear bond strength than $110{\mu}m$ (without liner $20.18{\pm}2.38$, with $20.71{\pm}2.67$). Conclusion: Surface treatments may have advantage in bond strength improvement for full-contour zirconia layered with porcelain.

It is widely believed that the increase in the prevalence of dental erosion is due to soft drinks. The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of soft drinks and etchant on the erosion of tooth enamel and the effect of tooth brushing on the abrasion of eroded enamel, and the effect of milk, saliva and Tooth $Mousse^{(R)}$ on the remineralization. The changes in tooth enamel surface were observed by scanning electron microscophy. The results were as follows; 1. The pH of Coca-Cola and Chilsung-Cider were higher than the pH of FineEtch 37 and $Tyrian^{TM}SPE$. 2. The SEM photos revealed that the pattern of the surface eroded by Coca-Cola and Chilsung-Cider were more obvious than that eroded by etchants. 3. The results of remineralization by saliva, milk, Tooth $Mousse^{(R)}$ were not different from each other. 4. The remineralization by saliva decreased tooth brushing abrasion.
PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to identify the effects of three aesthetic restorative materials on the wear between tooth and restoration by a pin-on-disk manner. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Six aesthetic restorative materials were used to prepare disk specimens for wear test, which were Lava Zirconia as zirconia group, Vintage MP and Cerabien ZR as veneering porcelain group, Gradia Direct microhybrid composite containing prepolymerized fillers, Filtek Z250 microhybrid composite containing zirconia glass and colloidal silica particles, and Filtek Z350 nanocomposite as composite resin group. Vertical loss of the worn cusp, change of the surface roughness of the restoration materials, and the surface topography were investigated after wear test under 9.8-N contact load. RESULTS. The porcelain groups (Vintage MP and Cerabien ZR) caused the largest vertical loss of teeth when compared with those of the composite resin and zirconia groups, and Filtek Z250 microhybrid composite results in the second-largest vertical loss of teeth. The surface of Filtek Z350 nanocomposite was deeply worn out, but visible wear on the surface of the zirconia and Gradia Direct microhybrid composite was not observed. When the zirconia surface was roughened by sand-blasting, vertical loss of teeth considerably increased when compared with that in the case of fine polished zirconia. CONCLUSION. It was identified that microhybrid composite resin containing a prepolymerized filler and zirconia with reduced surface roughness by polishing were the most desirable restorative materials among the tested materials to prevent the two-body wear between aesthetic restorative material and tooth.
This study was performed to evaluate the fracture resistance of three improved die stone materials according to water/powder ratio. There are lots of handling conditions which affect the physical properties of improved dental stone, and it's well known that the water/powder ratio significantly affect the strength of die stone. If water/power ratio was incorrect, following disadvantages were showed : (1) susceptibility to dimensional change due to abrasion, (2) limited reproduction of fine detail, (3) lack of strength. The maxillary master casts were made of additional silicone impressions(Exaflex, GC America. Inc. USA). Three type IV die stones such as Fuji Rock (GC Europe Intreleuvenlaan, Leuven, Belgium), Velmix(Kerr, Manufacturing company, USA), and Crytal Rock( Maruishi Gypsum Co. Ltd, Japan) were tested. A total of 160 casts were prepared, separated, and tested on the Instron Testing Machine(Model 4201, Co. USA). The obtained results of this study were as follows : 1. Fuji Reck and Velmix less 3ml than the water/power ratio of manufacturer's instruction showed the highest resistance to fracture. According to increasing water/powder ratio, fracture resistance was significantly increased(P<0.05). Crystal Rock showed the highest fracture value when it was mixed with the water/power ratio of manufacturer's instruction. 2. Water/powder ratio of the manufacturer's instructions and less 3ml than that showed lower fracture value of hand mix than that of vacuum mix. Water/powder ratio of more 3ml, 6ml than manufacturer's instructions was not significantly different between hand mix and vacuum mix(p>0.05). 3. Velmix had the highest viscoelastic value among three die materials when it was mixed with the manufacturer's instruction. Viscoelasticity was decreased according to increasing water/powder ratio.

The zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate ceramic material is a material in which lithium silicate glass contains about 10% by weight of zirconia oxide (zirconia oxide). This material has both the advantages of glass ceramics and zirconia, and it is attracting attention as a CADCAM material for single tooth restoration. ZLS materials have improved strength compared to widely used e.max (lithium disilicate ceramic) materials. It can be used for single crown restoration and ensuring a thickness of 1.5 mm is very important for reliable treatment. In the case of Celtra Duo, heat treatment may be helpful in terms of strength and abrasion resistance. Hydrofluoric acid treatment is helpful for bonding and hydrofluoric acid for a short time may not help to improve the bonding strength. Although zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate ceramic materials have been continuously conducted and published in the laboratory, reliable clinical studies are still lacking. Additional clinical studies will be a very important part of establishing a scientific basis.

Orthodontic treatment is obviously the first choice to get aligned teeth cause of conservative treatment. But it is impossible to get highly esthetic result only orthodontic treatment in case of peg lateralis, discrepancy tooth size, discolored teeth or fractured teeth. As all treatment does, especially in esthetic treatment it is always required interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment plan; orthodontics, periodontology, prothetics, implant therapy. As also, the treatment should be maintained long-term treatment with stable and harmonious state by esthetic satisfaction and functional occlusion those who needs various dental care as interdisciplinary treatment. This case is the laminate treatment with the orthodontic treatment on 37 ages/ Female patient who has cross bite at anteriors and premolar area and abrasion on centralis at right maxilla. By orthodontic treatment aligned teeth positions, it makes functional occlusion. As laminate treatment with minimum teeth preparation is able to release anterior esthetics. Follow up check for 2 years has been performed since the final prosthetics delivery to the patient. No sign of relapse, fracture of laminate were detected.
