The survey was collected on 172 2nd and 3rd grade students majoring in dental laboratory technology from three-year colleges in Chungbuk and Jeonbuk. The analysis results showed that the critical thinking disposition was 3.50, problem-solving ability of the study subjects was 3.55 and college life adaptation was 3.27. The most influential factor in college life adaptation was critical thinking disposition followed by major satisfaction and college satisfaction in that order. In order to improve the level of college life adaptation of dental laboratory technology students, it is necessary to reform the educational environment and develop a variety of educational program to increase critical thinking, major satisfaction and college satisfaction.

  • The gaps between the die margin worked and the casting body were measured with an optical microscope and compared after making crown prosthetic materials using three kinds of die material - dental stone, extra hard stone, epoxy resin - used in crown prosthesis. The results are as follows : 1. All the gaps between the cast cervical margin and the casting bodies were relatively good regardless of die materials used with the gaps under $50{\mu}m$, the allowable limit. 2. The cervical margin suitability of epoxy resin die was the highest among the three kinds of die material with the suitability value of $30.28{\pm}12.67$. 3. Among the four surfaces(buccal, lingual, mesial, distal) of all the casting bodies, buccal surface was the highest in the cervical margin suitability with the value of $25.93{\pm}15.51$.

  • I attempted to suggest a better method to separate a refractory cast in order to solve the problems caused by bonding between refractory casts and ceramics in the firing-processing of all ceramic crowns as a part of dental prosthodontics. I emphasize the advantages and effectiveness of easy separation after firing by using the separating materials about the refractory cast dies. 1. We must not usse HF(55%) that is used as the chemical separating methods. 2. We decrease such methods as grinding, blasting, bur, and point 3. We can save time, costs and manual labors by using this methods. 4. This method regulates the expansion and constriction of heat because of the chemical reaction of the separating materials. 5. This method contribute to the breaking down without modification by minimizing the chemical and mechanical damages of the marginal and interior parts.

  • In this study, in order to analyze the effects of dental technology students' degree of satisfaction with their major and sense of self-esteem on college life stress, we conducted a self-administered questionnaire for 270 dental technology students. conducted a frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis, and the results are as follows. As a result of analyzing the degree of major satisfaction, there was a significant difference in the department satisfaction (p<.05). The average score in major satisfaction was relatively high at 3.68. As a result of analyzing the level of self-esteem, there was a significant difference in grade and department satisfaction (p<.05). The average score in self-esteem question was relatively high at 3.75. As a result of analyzing the level of college life stress, there was a significant difference in the department satisfaction (p<.05). The average score for each college life stress area was relatively low at 1.97. As a result of analyzing the correlation between college life stress, major satisfaction, and self-esteem, college life stress was found to have a significant negative (-) correlation with major satisfaction and self-esteem. As a result of a regression analysis conducted on the effect of self-esteem and major satisfaction on college life stress, the variable that most influenced college life stress was found to be the self-esteem factor.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate dental technicians' awareness of infections and to enhance their interest and commitment towards infection prevention. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire survey was conducted among dental technicians. Total of 195 responses were used for analysis. A cross-tabulation analysis was used to compare dental technicians' awareness of infections according to their levels of education on infection prevention (α=0.05). Results: Dental technicians were educated on infection prevention (40.5%). Most participants received infection prevention education from school (29.8%). Dental laboratories had an infection control guideline (34.9%). Dental technicians were not aware of infection risks at their workplaces or believed that they were not at risk of infections at their workplaces (59.3%). Conclusion: Dental technicians must be consistently educated on infection prevention and control through systematic education at school and wider promotion through media. Research is needed to economically and efficiently improve equipment used by dental technicians and to protect them from infectious diseases. A budget for infection prevention must also be determined. Institutional measures such as providing support for dental technicians at the policy level and developing a basic infection prevention manual are necessary. Solving these issues not only protects dental technicians from infections but also allows them to provide high-quality medical services.
