최근 솔나방발생상황과 강우와의 관계 (Recent turends in the Population Density of the Pine Moth, Dendrolimus spectabilis Butler, in Relation to the Amount of Rainfall)

  • 전국 9개 고정조사지에서 1968년이래 13개년간 조사한 솔나방의 10월의 밀도를 종합검토한바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 13개년간에 솔나방의 10월밀도가 특히 높았던 년도는 '70년과 75년의 2회였으며 '76년이후는 단속 저밀도를 유지하고 있다. 2. 밀도가 현저하게 감소하였던 년도는 72년도와 76년도로서 8월중의 강우량 특히 24시간내 최대강우량이 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있었다. 3. 9개 조사지의 솔나방밀도증감은 대체적으로 유사한 경향을 보였으며 이것은 전국적인 강우의 대체적인 동시성에 기인한다고 본다. 4 8월중 일부 최다강우량이 100mm을 넘을 경우 솔나방밀도가 감소하는 확률은 $100\%$였다.

Reliability-based stochastic finite element using the explicit probability density function

  • This paper presents a technique for determining the optimal number of elements in stochastic finite element analysis based on reliability analysis. Using the change-of-variable perturbation stochastic finite element approach, the probability density function of the dynamic responses of stochastic structures is explicitly determined. This method combines the perturbation stochastic finite element method with the change-of-variable technique into a united model. To further examine the relationships between the random fields, discretization of the random field parameters, such as the variance function and the scale of fluctuation, is also performed. Accordingly, the reliability index is calculated based on the explicit probability density function of responses with Gaussian or non-Gaussian random fields in any number of elements corresponding to the random field discretization. The numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method for a one-dimensional cantilever reinforced concrete column and a two-dimensional steel plate shear wall. The benefit of this method is that the probability density function of responses can be obtained explicitly without the use simulation techniques. Any type of random variable with any statistical distribution can be incorporated into the calculations, regardless of the restrictions imposed by the type of statistical distribution of random variables. Consequently, this method can be utilized as a suitable guideline for the efficient implementation of stochastic finite element analysis of structures, regardless of the statistical distribution of random variables.

제주 연안역 조간대 퇴적물에 서식하는 중형저서동물 군집의 계절 변동 (Seasonal fluctuation of the meiobenthic fauna community in the intertidal zone sediments of coastal areas in Jeju Island, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 제주 연안에 서식하는 중형저서동물 군집의 특성과 계적적 변동을 알아보고자 수행되었다. 제주도 조간대 지역에서 20개의 조사지점을 선정하였으며, 2017년 4월부터 2019년 2월까지 총 8회의 조사를 수행하였다. 조사결과, 조사지점 당 중형저서동물의 밀도는 733~2,505 inds. 10 cm-2였으며, 2017년 4월에 밀도가 가장 높았고 2019년 2월에 가장 낮았다. 모든 조사지점에서 Nematode가 우점하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, copepod와 nauplius가 그 다음 우점 분류군으로 조사되었다. 생태계 건강성을 나타내는 Nematods/Copepods ratio (N/C ratio)는 2017년 4월에 가장 낮은 값인 0.02, 2019년 2월에 가장 높은 값인 87.40으로 산출되었으며, 이는 조사지점의 건강성이 악화되었음을 의미한다. Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) 분석결과는 제주 연안의 중형저서동물 군집구조는 지역적 차이보다는 계절적 변동에 의해 더 크게 영향을 받고 있음을 나타냈다. 제주도의 중형저서동물 군집의 계절적 변동 특성을 보다 명확히 이해하기 위해서, 추가적인 군집조사와 환경 인자와의 상관관계 분석이 후속 연구로 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

온도자극 및 수용밀도에 따른 우렁쉥이 폐사 (Effect of Temperature Fluctration and Different Stocking Densities on Mortality of Sea Squirt, Halocynthia roretzi(von Drasche))

  • 해양에서의 불규칙적으로 심하게 변하는 수온이 우렁쉥이의 폐사율에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 파악하기 위해 1998년 12월 14일부터 1999년 8월 30일까지 자연산과 양식산 우렁쉥이를 사용하여 실내에서 온도자극 및 수용밀도별로 실험한 결과와 야외 육성장에서 수층별로 밀도를 달리하여 사육한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 실내에서 수용밀도별 사육 결과 12kg 수용구가 3kg, 6kg 수용구보다 폐사가 높았고, 자연산에 비해 양식산의 폐사가 높았으나, 3kg 수용구와 6kg 수용구간에는 밀도별 실험에서 차이가 없었고, 양식산과 자연산간에도 차이가 없었다. 2. 일간 폐사율은 양식산, 자연산 공히 실험 초기에 폐사율이 높았다. 3. 온도자극에 따른 폐사는 온도자극이 클수록 폐사가 많았고, 양식산이 자연산에 비해 폐사가 많았다. 4. 온도자극에 따른 일간 폐사율은 8$^{\circ}C$ 자극 실험구에서는 온도자극이 끝난 직후에 폐사가 높았고, 5$^{\circ}C$, 3$^{\circ}C$ 실험구에서는 온도자극 중에 높았고, 대조구에서는 초기에 폐사를 보인 후 폐사가 없었다. 5. 우렁쉥이 육성장에서 10m 층의 실시간 수온변화는 1, 2월까지는 변화가 없다가 5월부터 일일 2~4$^{\circ}C$의 변화를 보였고, 6월에는 최고 7.4$^{\circ}C$까지 변하는 불규칙적인 변화를 보였고, 8월 중순 이후에 안정되었다. 6. 수용밀도에 따른 월별 폐사율은 3, 6, 12kg 수용구 모두가 6월에 가장 높은 폐사율을 보였고, 다음이 8월이었다. 수층별로는 5m 층이 10m, 15m층에 비해 폐사가 높게 나타났으며, 자연산에 비해 양식산의 폐사가 높았다. 7. 양식수층에 따른 월별 폐사율은 전 수층에서 6월에 폐사가 가장 높게 일어났고, 다음이 7월이었다. 수용 밀도별로는 12kg 수용구가 폐사율이 가장 높고, 다음이 6kg, 3kg 순이었으며, 자연산에 비해 양식산의 폐사율이 높게 나타났다.

선실의 음향학적 특성을 고려한 잔향시간 평가 (Reverberation time evaluation considering the acoustical characteristics of a cabin)

  • Reverberation time is the well known theory and widely used in commercial apparatus to get reverberation time. However large fluctuation in low frequency region occurs in a small cabin due to superposition of a few modes. This paper investigates this phenomena in terms of modal density in frequency domain and suggests a method to get lower limit of reverberation time using the integration of the time-SPL diagram. The suggestion is confirmed by simulation and shows reasonable results to get lower limit of reverberation time and maximum absorbing power in the cabin.

Climatology of Equatorial Plasma Bubbles in Ionospheric Connection Explorer/Far-UltraViolet (ICON/FUV) Limb Images

  • The Far-UltraViolet (FUV) imager onboard the Ionospheric Connection Explorer (ICON) spacecraft provides two-dimensional limb images of oxygen airglow in the nightside low-latitude ionosphere that are used to determine the oxygen ion density. As yet, no FUV limb imager has been used for climatological analyses of Equatorial Plasma Bubbles (EPBs). To examine the potential of ICON/FUV for this purpose, we statistically investigate small-scale (~180 km) fluctuations of oxygen ion density in its limb images. The seasonal-longitudinal variations of the fluctuation level reasonably conform to the EPB statistics in existing literature. To further validate the ICON/FUV data quality, we also inspect climatology of the ambient (unfiltered) nightside oxygen ion density. The ambient density exhibits (1) the well-known zonal wavenumber-4 signatures in the Equatorial Ionization Anomaly (EIA) and (2) off-equatorial enhancement above the Caribbean, both of which agree with previous studies. Merits of ICON/FUV observations over other conventional data sets are discussed in this paper. Furthermore, we suggest possible directions of future work, e.g., synergy between ICON/FUV and the Global-scale Observations of the Limb and Disk (GOLD) mission.

DIAGNOSTICS OF PLASMA INDUCED IN Nd:YAG LASER WELDING OF ALUMINUM ALLOY

  • The dynamic behavior of Al-Mg alloys plasma was very unstable and this instability was closely related to the unstable motion of keyhole during laser irradiation. The keyhole fluctuated both in size and shape and its fluctuation period was about 440 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. This instability has been estimated to be caused by the evaporation phenomena of metals with different boiling point and latent heats of vaporization. Therefore, the authors have conducted the spectroscopic diagnostics of plasma induced in the pulsed YAG laser welding of Al-Mg alloys in air and argon atmospheres. In the air environment, the identified spectra were atomic lines of Al, Mg, Cr, Mn, Cu, Fe and Zn, and singly ionized Mg line, as well as strong molecular spectrum of AlO, MgO and AIH. It was confirmed that the resonant lines of Al and Mg were strongly self-absorbed, in particular in the vicinity of pool surface. The self-absorption of atomic Mg line was more eminent in alloys containing higher Mg. These facts showed that the laser-induced plasma was relatively a low temperature and high density metallic vapor. The intensities of molecular spectra of AlO and MgO were different each other depending on the power density of laser beam. Under the low power density irradiation condition, the MgO band spectra were predominant in intensity, while the AlO spectra became much stronger in higher power density. In argon atmosphere the band spectra of MgO and AlO completely vanished, but AlH molecular spectra was detected clearly. The hydrogen source was presumably the hydrogen solved in the base Metal, absorbed water on the surface oxide layer or H$_2$ and $H_2O$ in the shielding gas. The temporal change in spectral line intensities was quite similar to the fluctuation of keyhole. The time average plasma temperature at 1 mm high above the surface of A5083 alloy was determined by the Boltzmann plot method of atomic Cr lines of different excitation energy. The obtained electron temperature was 3, 280$\pm$150 K which was about 500 K higher than the boiling point of pure aluminum. The electron number density was determined by measuring the relative intensities of the spectra1lines of atomic and singly ionized Magnesium, and the obtained value was 1.85 x 1019 1/㎥.

Effect of Dynamic SGS Model in a Kerosene-LOx Swirl Injector under Supercritical Condition

  • In this study, numerical simulations are carried out to investigate the dynamic SGS model effects in a Kerosene-LOx coaxial swirl injector under high pressure conditions. The turbulent model is based on large-eddy simulation (LES) with real-fluid transport and thermodynamics. To assess the effect of the dynamic subgrid-scale (SGS) model, the dynamic SGS model is compared with that of the algebraic SGS model. In a swirl injector under supercritical pressure, the characteristics of temporal pressure fluctuation and power spectral density (PSD) present comparable discrepancies dependant on the SGS models, which affect the mixing characteristics. Mixing efficiency and the probability density (PDF) function are conducted for a statistical description of the turbulent flow fields according to the SGS models. The back-scattering of turbulent kinetic energy is estimated in terms of the film thickness of the swirl injector.

역 유동층 생물막 반응기를 이용한 유분함유폐수 처리에 관한 연구 (A study on the treatment of highly-emulsified oily wastewater by an inverse fluidized-bed biofilm reactor)

  • An inverse fluidized-bed biofilm reactor (IFBBR) was used for the treatment of highly-emulsified oily wastewater. When the concentration of biomass which was cultivated in the synthetic wastewater reached to 6000 mg/1, the oily wastewater was employed to the reactor with a input COD concentration range of 50 mg/1 to 1900 mg/l. Virtually the IFBBR showed a high stability during the long operation period although soma fluctuation was observed. The COD removal efficiency was maintained over 9% under the condition that organic loading rate should be controlled under the value of 1.5 kgCOD/$m^3$/day, and F/M ratio is 1.0 kgCOD/kgVSS/day at $22{\circ}C$ and HRT of 12 hrs. As increasing organic loading rates, the biomass concentration was decreased steadily with decreasing of biofilm dry density rather than biofilm thickness. Based on the experimental jesuits, it was suggested that the decrease in biofilm dry density was caused by a loss of biomass inside the biofilm.

  • Prime movers in most large merchant ships adapt two stroke low speed diesel engine which has higher efficiency, mobility and durability. However, severe torsional vibration in these diesel engines may be induced by higher fluctuation of combustion pressures. Consequently, it may lead sometimes to propulsion shafting failure due to the accumulated fatigue stresses. Shaft fatigue strength analysis had been done traditionally in time domain but this method is complicated and difficult in analysing bi-modal vibration system such as the case of cylinder misfiring condition. In this paper authors introduce an assessment method of fatigue strength estimation for propulsion shafting system with two stroke low speed diesel engine in the frequency domain.
