  • An improved transition density propagation method for power estimation is proposed. The power estimation for the zero delay model is a proper criteria for the.lower boutldlIry for power consumption. A transition propagation method, including the zero delay model as a lower boundary for power stimation was studied. However, there were some redundancy factors in the process of transition density propagation. Hence this paper will explore the transition density propagation behavior to eliminate the redundancy factors and present theirriprQved estimation methodology for the signal transition density. The experiments show that the proposed method has comparably better estimation accuracy than the conventional methods.

  • The influences of density variation on stress and displacement fields at a propagating Mode-III crack tip in orthotropic functionally graded materials (OFGMs) are studied. The crack propagates dynamically at a right angle to the gradient of physical properties. Three kinds of elasticity and density gradients are analyzed in this study. They are as follows: (1) the density varies without elasticity variation, (2) the directions of the density and elasticity gradients are opposite to each other, and (3) same. For these cases, the stress and displacement fields at the crack tip are developed and the dynamic stress intensity factors for propagating cracks are also studied. When the crack speed is low, the influence of density variation on the stresses and displacement is low. However, when the crack speed is high, this influence is very high.

  • This paper presents a precision method to calculate the electric field density of mountain area using digital terrain elevation data(DTED). Generally we calculate the electric field density of a point adding a direct field density and horizontal reflection field density between two points. In this paper, we consider a vertical reflection field density from vertical surface near the wave propagation line between transmitter and receiver. The vertical reflection electric field have different propagation path and polarization from a horizontal reflection field. And the total electric field density adding horizontal field density and vertical reflection value is more accurate than a direct path electrical field density or direct field density adding a horizontal reflection field density.

  • Wireless communication in an urban area, the accurate prediction of wave propagation characteristics are very important to determine communication service areas, select optimal base-stations, and design cells, etc. The CCIR model is a propagation prediction model using a shadowing by the buildings in an urban area. This model represent the shadowing rate by the means of the effect of shadowing between base-station and mobile unit in a shaped linear plane. But, This one occurred a lot of prediction error because it did not consider that density area by the buildings and terrain configurations by the hill and mountain on Line-Of-Sight. In this thesis, an improved propagation prediction model is proposed to reduce prediction error. We presents a new equation, which is using the SAS. This equation is associated with the shadow height by the buildings that considers the topology and the number of blocks that can affect the building shadow in the Line-Of-Sight. We measure the received electrical field level of base-station that high density area, medium density area, and low density area, and then compare and analysis the result to prediction of CCIR model and proposed model. The result compared with the measurement, the proposed model has the improvement of 9.71dB in a high density area, 9.66dB in a medium density area, and 4.02dB in a low density area better than the CCIR model. The result compared with the measurement, the proposed model has the improvement of 9.71dB in a high density area, 9.66dB in a medium density area, and 4.02dB in a low density area better than the CCIR model.

  • In this paper microwave power propagated through the cold plasma was analyzed and measured with respect to the external magenetic flux density. The d. c discharge plasma was in the rectangular waveguide in which two electrode was inserted, and also the glass diseharge tube inserted in the ractangular wavegside. The direction of microwave pro-pagation, the axis of the discharge tube and external magnetic flux were perpendicular to each other. It showed that the attenuation and absorption of micro wave power propagated in the plasma was increased as the magnetic flux density, the discharge current and the pressure of the gas were increased.

  • The effects of the viscosity of an adjacent viscous fluid on the characteristics of the elastic waves have been studied theoretically and experimentally. Expressions for the wave speed and attenuation of the elastic waves of transverse motion, such as the torsional wave propagating in a circular cylinder and the Love wave in a layered half-space solid, have been obtained as functions of the viscosity and mass density of the fluid by exact and asymptotic analyses. The theoretical results have been compared with experimental observations, and it has been demonstrated that a device described herein can be used as a sensor for measuring the viscosity of a fluid with a known mass density.

  • This paper proposes component-based density propagation for tracking a component-based human body model that comprises components and their flexible links. We divide a human body into six body parts as components - head, body, left arm, right arm, left foot, and right foot - that are most necessary in tracking its movement. Instead of tracking a whole body's silhouette, using component-based density propagation, the proposed method individually tracks each component of various parts of human body through a human body model connecting the components. The proposed human body tracking system has been applied to track movements usee for young children's movement education: balancing, hopping, jumping, walking, turning, bending, and stretching. This proposed system demonstrated the validity and effectiveness of movement tracking by independently detecting each component in the human body model and by acquiring an average 97% of high tracking rate.

  • The effects of the ionosphere on the radio wave propagation are scattering of radio waves, attenuation, angle error, ranging error, and time delay. If ionospheric conditions are suitable, the charged particles can remove energy from radio waves and thus attenuate the signal. Also, a radio wave traveling a path along which the electron density is not constant undergoes changes in direction, positon and time of propagation. The present study is based on Korean ionospheric data obtained at the AnYang Radio Research Institute from Jan. 1985 through Oct. 1989. The data are used to simulate the Korean ionosphere following the Chapman law. The effects of the model ionosphere on the radio wave propagation, such as the angle, position error, time delay, and the attenuation, are studied for the various cases of the wave frequency and the altitude.

  • Vehicular ad-hoc networks is temporarily established through inter-vehicle communication without any additional infrastructure aids. It requires a immediate message propagation because it mainly deals with critical traffic information such as traffic accidents. The distance-based broadcast scheme is one of the representative broadcast schemes for vehicular ad-hoc network. In this scheme, a node to disseminate messages is selected based on a distance from a source node. However, a message propagation delay will be increased if the relay nodes are not placed at the border of transmission range of the source node. In particular, when the node density is low, the message propagation delay is getting longer. In this paper, we propose a time-window reservation based relay node selection scheme. A node receiving the alert message from the source node has its time-window and randomly selects its waiting time within the given time-window range. A proportional time period of the given time-window is reserved in order to reduce the message propagation delay. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme has shorter message propagation delay than the distance-based broadcast scheme irrespective of node density in VANET. In particular, when the node density is low, the proposed scheme shows about 26% shorter delay and about 46% better performance in terms of compound metric, which is a function of propagation latency and network traffic.
