Polymer-Supported Crown Ethers (II). Efficiency for Phase Transfer Catalyst (고분자 물질로 지지된 크라운 에테르류(II) 상이동 촉매 효능)

  • Polymer-supported crown ethers (Ps-CE) which can be used for phase-transfer catalyst (PTC) were synthesized for the purpose of allowing reusable function to ordinary crown ethers, and the kinetics of the liquid-solid-liquid triphase-catalyzed nucleophilic displacement reaction of iodide (aqueous phase) on 1-bromooctane (organic phase) using synthesized Ps-CE (solid) were studied. Ps-CE were obtained by grafting of hydroxymethyl crown ethers to 1~2% cross-linked chloromethylated polystyrene. All reactions followed a pseudo-first order dependency on the 1-bromooctane concentration and the observed rate constants $(k_{obsd})$ were linearly related to the molar equivalents of Ps-CE, and were subjected to the influence of cross-linking density of polymer backbone, solvent and the reaction temperature. The catalytic activity of Ps-CE was also compared with that of structurally similar soluble crown ethers, and used Ps-CE were easily recovered after the reaction by simple filtration and could be reused without loss of catalytic activity in the same anionic displacement reaction. Enthalpies and entropies of activation associated with the displacement were 10~20kcal $mol^{-1}, 20~55eu. respectively, and the free energy of activation was ~30kcal mol^{-1}$.

  • Tigriopus japonicus harpacticoida copepod was a common copepoda species as food organism for the marine fish larval rearing. However T. japonicus was difficult to stable culture except for a mixed culture with rotifer. Available food source for the successfully stable culture of T. japonicus was investigated in this study. T. japonicus did not utilization Nannochloropsis oculata instead of that. T japonicus utilized to products from rotifer culture tank. The products from rotifer culture tank was composed of rotifer feces and co-existing aquatic bacteria. The nauplius I stafe and copepodid I stage of T. japonicus showed grown whenproducts from rotifer culture tanks was fed. Specially we observed higher density of nauplii than that of copepodites and ovisac carrying females in the experimental culture populations.

Effects of Soil Solarization for Control of Cucumber Wilt -Suppression of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerium and Promotin of Cucumber Growth- (태양열 소독에 의한 오이덩굴쪼김병 방제 -병원균 생장억제 및 오이생육촉진에 미치는 비닐 피복효과-)

  • The effects of solarization on the suppression of soilborne plant pathogen and the growth promotion of cucumber plants were examined in artificially infested soil by vinyl mulching and not mulching from July 25 to August 25, 1983. During the solarization period, the highest temperatures were $58^{\circ}C,\;45^{\circ}C,\;and\;42^{\circ}C$, at 5cm, 15cm, and 25cm of soil depth respectively. The inoculum of cucumber wilt pathogen, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum, was mixed with soil 30cm deep and saturated with water. The pathogen was completely killed after 30dys of solarization in 5cm soil depth and 98 percent of inoculum was eliminated in 15cm soil depth. But the survival rate of the fungi in 25cm soil depth of solarized plot did not show significant differences compared with those in nontreated plot in 5cm and 15cm depth. Although some of the pathogenic fungi might survive from solarized soil in 15cm and 25cm depth, the ability of microconidia production was reduced significantly The number of microconidia grown on Komada's medium in isolates the primary colonies from solarized soil was less than that in isolates from nontreated soil approximately by one fourth. The first subcultured solates from the solarized soil grown on potato dextrose agar also produced a small amount of microc. onidia compare with that of subcultured isolates from nontreated soil. Cucumber seedlings planted in the soil collected from solarized plot grew much better than that in the soil from nontreated plot at any of soil loved, especially in 5cm of soil depth. And the fruits harvested from cucumber plants grown in the solarized plot were more in number and leavier in weight than that from nontreated plot. Besides the typical symptom development, significant growth suppression wvas recognized with increase of inoculum density of F. oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum at early stage of cucumber seedlings in steam sterilized soil.

Electrical Transport Properties of La2/3TiO2.84 Ceramic (La2/3TiO2.84 세라믹스의 전기전도특성)

  • The thermoelectric power, dc conductivity and magnetic properties of the cubic L $a_{2}$ 3/Ti $O_{2.84}$ were investigated. The thermoelectric power was negative below 350 K. The measured thermoelectric power of L $a_{2}$ 3/Ti $O_{2.84}$ increased linearly with temperature, in agreement with model proposed by Emin and Wood, and was represented by A+BT. Temperature dependence indicates that the charge carrier in this material is a small polaron. L $a_{2}$ 3/Ti $O_{2.84}$ exhibited a cross over from variable range hopping to small polaron hopping conduction at a characteristic temperature well below room temperature. The low temperature do conduction mechanism in L $a_{2}$ 3/Ti $O_{2.84}$ was analyzed using Mott's approach. Mott parameter analysis gave values for the density of state at Fermi level [N( $E_{F}$)] = 3.18${\times}$10$^{20}$ c $m^{-3}$ e $V^{-1}$ . The disorder energy ( $W_{d}$) was found to be 0.93 eV, However, it was noted that the value of the disorder energy was much higher than the high temperature activation energy. The exist linear relation between log($\sigma$T)와 1/T in the range of 200 to 300 K, the activation energy for small polaron hopping was 0.15 eV.

Sintering Properties of UO2+5wt% CeO2Compacts Using Microwave (마이크로파를 이용한 UO2+5wt% CeO2성형체의 소결특성)

  • The heat generation tests of SiC and MO$_2$ samples by use of a microwave heating system were carried out and UO$_2$+5 wt% CeO$_2$ pellets were sintered in a microwave furnace in an oxidizing atmosphere, by taking into account the characteristics of the microwave heating obtained from the heat generation tests. The characteristics of pellets sintered in a microwave furnace were analysed and compared with those of the pellets sintered in a conventional electrical furnace. The temperature of MO$_2$ pellets with microwave heating increased quickly with input power and the variation of output power depended on the reaction characteristics of SiC and MO$_2$ with microwave. The sintered density of UO$_2$+5wt% CeO$_2$ pellets sintered in the microwave furnace was lower about 2% T.D. than that of the pellets sintered in an electrical furnace with sintering parameters. The microstructure of pellets sintered in microwave furnace has a broader pore distribution but has a larger grain size than that of the pellets sintered in the electrical furnace.

Preparation of Polymer Light Emitting Diodes with PFO-poss Organic Emission Layer on ITO/Glass Substrates (ITO/Glass 기판위에 PFO-poss 유기 발광층을 가지는 고분자 발광다이오드의 제작)

  • Polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs) with ITO/EDOT:PSS/PVK/PFO-poss/LiF/Al structures were prepared by the spin coating method on ITO(indium tin oxide)/glass substrates. PFO-poss[Poly(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl) end capped with poss] was used as light emitting polymer. PVK[poly(N-vinyl carbazole)] and PEDOT:PSS [poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfolnate)] polymers were used as the hole injection and transport materials. The effect of PFO-poss concentration and the heating temperatures on the electrical and optical properties of the devices were investigated. At the same concentration of PFO-poss solution, the current density and luminance of PLED device tend to increase as the annealing temperature increase from $100^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$. The maximum luminance was found to be about 958 cd/m2 at 13V for the PLED device with 1.0 wt% PFO-poss at the annealing temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. In addition, the PLED device showed bluish white emission through the strong greenish peak with 523 nm in wavelength. As the concentration of PFO-poss increase from 0.5 wt% to 1.0 wt% and temperature of PLEDs increase from $100^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$, the emission color tend to be shifted from blue with (x, y) = (0.17,0.14) to bluish white with (x, y) : (0.29,0.41) in CIE color coordinate.

Electricity Generation from Volatile Fatty Acids (VFAs) Using a Microbial Fuel Cell (휘발성지방산으로부터 미생물연료전지에 의한 전기 생산)

  • A new technology that utilizes a microbial fuel cell (MFC) has been developed to generate electricity directly from the oxidation of organic matters such as carbohydrates or complex organics in wastewater. Fermentation of these organic matters results in production of volatile fatty acids (VFAs), alcohols, $CO_2$ and $H_2$. We investigated the electricity-producing potential of the VFAs and actual food processing wastewater using a two-chambered MFC. The electrons produced by acetate degradation were proportional to acetate concentration in the medium. Acetate concentration and generated power were linearly correlated at a low range or acetate concentration (< 8 mg/L), but at above 8 mg/L of acetate the power produced was maintained at 0.1 mW. When butyrate was added to the anode acclimated to acetate, there was a lag period of 30 hr for electricity generation. However, when propionate was added to the same anode bottle, lag periods were not existed. The wastewater from baby food processing generated the maximum power density of $81{\pm}7\;mW/m^2$ of electricity and exhibited the Coulombic efficiencies of 27.1% and 40.5% based on TCOD and SCOD, respectively. Sugars in the food processing wastewater were reduced within 50 h from 230 mg/L < 30 mg/L.

Effects of A-site Ca and B-site Zr Substitution on the Dielectric Characteristics and Microstructure of BaTiO3-CaTiO3 Composite (A-site Ca 및 B-site Zr 첨가에 의한 BaTiO3-CaTiO3복합체의 유전특성 및 미세구조에 미치는 영향)

  • The dielectric and sintering characteristics of composites made by substituting Ca ion to Ba-site and Zr ion to Ti site in $(Ba{1-x}Ca_x)(Ti{0.96-yZr_ySn_{0.04})O_3$ $(0.15{\leq}x{\leq}0.20,\;0.09{\leq}y{\leq}0.14)$ were investigated. As the content of Ca was more than 15 mol%, composite was formed by precipitating the second phase whose main element was $CaTiO_3$ and the fraction of the second phase was increased. The curie temperature of composites was depended on Ca concentration, $-1.7^{\circ}C$ per mol% and the maximum dielectric constant of composite was decreased by the rate of 200/mol%. The substitution of Zr ion decreased the curie temperature by the rate of $10^{\circ}C$ per mol% and the maximum dielectric constant was decreased by 217/mol% due to the increase of diffuse phase transition. The density and insulation breakdown characteristics were improved by suppressing the abnormal grain growth due to the increase of second phase. We developed the composition of Y5U (EIA standard) condenser which had high breakdown voltage and dielectric constant by controlling diffuse phase transition by the addition of Zr ion into composite.

Quality Characteristics of Cookies with Added Concentrations of Garlic Juice (마늘 즙 첨가에 따른 쿠키의 품질특성)

  • This study aimed to evaluate the physicochemical and sensory properties of the cookies that were prepared with different concentrations [0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, and 6 % (w/w)]. The pH of the cookie dough increased significantly at all garlic juice concentrations greater than 1%. The highest dough density value was 1.23, which occurred in the 2% added group; however there was no remarkable differences among the test groups. The spread factor of the cookies showed an inverse relationship with the garlic juice concentration as compared to the control group (10.63). Hardness decreased with increasing garlic juice concentration at levels greater than 1%, and it ranged from 1857.92 to 1695.02. In addition, the L-value decreased with increasing garlic juice concentration, while the a-value gradually increased. In the case of the b-value, however, no significant difference was found compared to that of the control group. In the sensory evaluation, the color of the cookies (3.44-5.11) increased dose dependently with the garlic juice concentration. Taste scores were higher with garlic juice additions over 2%; whereas flavor was considerably greater compared to that of control group. The overall acceptability of the garlic juice cookies was higher than that of the control group. From this investigation, the optimal concentrations of added garlic juice for improvements in cookie quality were found in the range of 1-2%.

Analysis on the Temperature of 3D Multi-core Processors according to Vertical Placement of Core and L2 Cache (코어와 L2 캐쉬의 수직적 배치 관계에 따른 3차원 멀티코어 프로세서의 온도 분석)

  • In designing multi-core processors, interconnection delay is one of the major constraints in performance improvement. To solve this problem, the 3-dimensional integration technology has been adopted in designing multi-core processors. The 3D multi-core architecture can reduce the physical wire length by stacking cores vertically, leading to reduced interconnection delay and reduced power consumption. However, the power density of 3D multi-core architecture is increased significantly compared to the traditional 2D multi-core architecture, resulting in the increased temperature of the processor. In this paper, the floorplan methods which change the forms of vertical placement of the core and the level-2 cache are analyzed to solve the thermal problems in 3D multi-core processors. According to the experimental results, it is an effective way to reduce the temperature in the processor that the core and the level-2 cache are stacked adjacently. Compared to the floorplan where cores are stacked adjacently to each other, the floorplan where the core is stacked adjacently to the level-2 cache can reduce the temperature by 22% in the case of 4-layers, and by 13% in the case of 2-layers.
