The Design of an Optimal Demand Response Controller Under Real Time Electricity Pricing

  • The use of a demand response controller is necessary for electric devices to effectively respond to time varying price signals and to achieve the benefits of cost reduction. This paper describes a new formulation with the form of constrained optimization for designing an optimal demand response controller. It is demonstrated that constrained optimization is a better approach for the demand response controller, in terms of the ambiguity of device operation and the practicality of implementation of the optimal control law. This paper also proposes a design scheme to construct a demand response controller that is useful when a system controller is already adapted or optimized for the system. The design separates the demand response function from the original system control function while leaving the system control law unchanged. The proposed formulation is simulated and compared to the system with simple dynamics. The effects of the constraints, the system characteristics and the electricity price are examined further.

  • The Debreu-Gale-Nikaido theorem [2] is a potential tool to prove the existence of a market equilibrium price. Walras' law is of a quantitative nature (i.e. it measures the value of the total excess demand), and it is interesting to note that the existence result holds true under some qualitative assumptions. In fact, the Debreu-Gale-Nikaido theorem states that the continuity of the excess demand function and Walras' law has the following implication : For some price and corresponding value of the excess demand function, it is not possible to respond with a new price system such that the value at the new price of every element in the value of the demand function associated with the old price system is strictly positive.

사내요금제를 활용한 대규모 수용가 수요반응에 관한 연구 (Demand Response of Large-Scale General and Industrial Customer using In-House Pricing Model)

  • Demand response provides customer load reductions based on high market prices or system reliability conditions. One type of demand response, price-based program, induces customers to respond to changes in product rates. However, there are large-scale general and industrial customers that have difficulty changing their energy consumption patterns, even with rate changes, due to their electricity demands being commercial and industrial. This study proposes an in-house pricing model for large-scale general and industrial customers, particularly those with multiple business facilities, for self-regulating demand-side management and cost reduction. The in-house pricing model charges higher rates to customers with lower load factors by employing peak to off-peak ratios in order to reduce maximum demand at each facility. The proposed scheme has been applied to real world and its benefits are demonstrated through an example.

  • In respond to climate change caused by global environmental problems, countries around the world are actively promoting the advancement of new electricity industries. The new energy business is being applied to energy storage systems (ESS), electric vehicle charging business, and power demand response using cutting edge technologies. In 2022, the Korean government is also establishing a policy stance to foster new energy industries and making efforts to improve its responsiveness to power demand response with the innovative technologies. In Korea, attempts to commercialize energy power are also being made in the private and public sectors to control energy power in houses, buildings, and industries. For example, private companies, local governments, and central government are making all-out efforts to develop new energy industry models through joint investment. There are forms such as establishing energy-independent facilities by region, establishing an electric vehicle charging system, controlling urban lighting systems with Information technologies, and managing demand between power suppliers and power consumers. This study examined the business model applied with energy storage system, electric vehicle charging business, smart lighting, and power demand response based on information communication technology to examine the site where smart energy system was introduced. According to this study, company missions and government tasks are suggested to apply new energy business technologies as economical energy solutions that meet the purpose of use by region, industry, and company.

건물 에너지 수요관리를 위한 BEMS 연계형 수요반응 시스템 개발 (Development of BEMS linked Demand Response System for Building Energy Demand Management)

  • 건물을 에너지 수요관리 자원으로 활용하기 위해서는 수요 반응에 대응할 수 있는 자동화된 시스템을 필요로 한다. 에너지 수요관리 사업자의 출현으로 이를 뒷받침할 수 있는 건물 에너지 관리 시스템과 수요반응 시스템에 대한 연구 개발이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 아직까지 자동화된 실시간 수요 반응 시스템 도입은 미흡하고 비용도 높다. 본 연구에서는 이를 해소하기 위해 건물을 대상으로 수요 반응 시스템 구축을 위한 OpenADR 프로토콜과 수요 반응에 참여할 수 있는 건물 에너지 관리 시스템을 개발하고 실환경에 적용하여 실증을 수행하였다. OpenADR은 표준 프로토콜로 사업자와 수요자원간의 이벤트 발생과 리포팅을 통해 자동화된 시스템이다. 또한 다양한 제어 시스템이 이용되고 있는 건물을 대상으로 단일화된 제어 시스템 구축을 위해 웹 기반 건물 자동제어 시스템을 개발하여 수요 반응 이벤트 발생 시 부하를 줄일 수 있도록 한다. 개발된 결과물을 건물에 적용하여 동작하는 것을 검증하고 감축량을 측정하여 수요반응 효과를 확인하였다.

  • Demand Response Programs (DRP) are critical to the operation of efficient and competitive energy markets. and provide critical market improvements to Independent System Operators (ISO). To all energy market Participants, they Provide savings and cost reductions when end users have the ability to respond to wholesale prices. Now, in the competitive electricity market, DRP is classified by Emergency and Economic DRP to reduce costs and maintain reliability. In this paper, we survey the trend of Demand Response Program over the world and compare the practical performance among the markets in US.

  • 최근 WTO 협약에 의한 기술개방, 국가간 기술사 상호인증, 이공계 교육 활성화 및 선진화에 능동적으로 대처할 수 있도록 기술사의 전문성을 확보할 수 있는 법 제도적 기반의 마련이 시급하다. 이를 위해서는 정확한 기술사의 인력수급 전망을 조사하여야 하며, 그 결과에 따라 고급 기술자로서의 기술사 인력 육성 및 활용방안이 수립되어야 한다. 우수 기술사의 육성은 그 가치가 결정되는 적정한 수급을 바탕으로 이루어진다. 따라서 본 연구는 현행 제도에 의한 기술사 인력 수급의 문제점을 분석하고, 향후 기술사 인력의 수급을 조정하기 위해 제도적인 측면의 개선방안을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 선진수준의 기술사 인력수급체계 구축은 물론 효율적이고 일관된 기술사 양성 및 활용 체계구축에 이용될 것이다. 아울러 시장 개방과 관련 기술사간 국제 통용성 확보 등 우리기술의 국제무대 진출체제 확립을 위한 정부 정책의 기초 자료로 활용될 것이다.

ESS를 이용한 발전소 터빈제어밸브 전개 운전 제어로직 제안 (Suggestion of Logic to Control Power Plant Equipped ESS in case of Full Open Turbine Control Valve)

  • 신재생에너지 비중 증가에 따른 전력계통 불안정성과 탈원전, 노후 석탄화력 폐쇄로 인한 안정적인 발전자원 감소에 대한 대응 방안으로 터빈제어밸브 4개중 2~3개를 교축하여 발전기 출력 증·감발과 주파수를 추종하는 복합 변압 운전 방식을 터빈제어밸브를 전개하여 교축손실을 줄임으로서 발전 효율을 극대화하는 순 변압운전 방식으로 대체하고, 계통 주파수 변동에 신속하게 대응하기 위해 ESS를 연계하여 주파수 추종 및 자동발전운전을 하는 제어로직을 500MW 석탄화력인 태안 5호기를 대상으로 개발하였다. ESS 운전(신속한 응답, 용량 한계)과 발전소 터빈제어밸브 교축 운전(느린 응답, 지속적인 운전)의 장·단점을 보완하는 협조제어 알고리즘이 실제 발전소에 적용시 발전 효율 향상은 물론 전력 수요에 신속하고 유연하여 대응하여 계통 안정성에 기여할 것으로 확신한다.

  • Traditional Manufacturing method is push system by plan made in advance and Japanese manufacturing method represented by JUST-IN-TIME is pull system which respond's to the demand flexibly. Both have their pros and cons. In general, it is well understood that push system is faster than pull system in the sense of manufacturing speed. However, pull system such as JIT excelles dramatically in the sense of work in process. Therefore, this paper is trying to put together to get alternative which has the advantage of both system. The objective of the paper is to enhance the effect of built-in manufacturing system without paying extra cost by way of introducing the alternative of the pull-push manufacturing strategic operational method.

사무용 패널 시스템 리디자인 개발 (A Study on Redesign of Office Panel System)

  • Since of 2000s, Office furniture have been much changes in the design as the expanding demand for the diversity and variability of office space. Especially, OA System Furniture including Panel System were developed by the shape and configuration considering the members' communication and teamwork. However, It is limited to the situation for the leading manufacturer of office furniture, Most small business cope with a negative policy because development personnel and expense. Thus, Accounted for the majority of the office furniture manufacturing, Small and medium-sized furniture manufacturers are needed measures of development that reflect these realities, rapid and practical. This study suggests redesign in a way that a small and medium-sized furniture manufacturers to overcome the limited design development environment and rapidly respond to changing market conditions. And this study has an intend to develop the Office Panel System.
