Platform Technology for Food-Grade Expression System Using the genus Bifidobacterium

  • Bifidobacterium spp. is nonpathogenic, gram-positive and anaerobic bacteria, which inhabit the intestinal tract of humans and animals. In breast-fed infants, bifidobacteria comprise morethan 90% of the gut bacterial population. Bifidobacteria spp. are used in commericial fermented dairy products and have been suggested to exert health promoting effects on the host by maintaining intestinal microflora balances, improving lactose tolerance, reducing serum cholesterol levels, increasing synthesis of vitamins, and aiding the immune enchancement and anticarcinogenic activity for the host. These beneficial effects of Bifidobacterium are strain-related. Therefore continued efforts to improve strain characteristics are warranted. in these respect, development of vector system for Bifidobacterium is very important not only for the strain improvement but also because Bifidobacterium is most promising in serving as a delivery system for the useful gene products, such as vaccine or anticarcinogenic polypeptides, into human intestinal tract. For developing vector system, we have characterized several bifidobacterial plasmids at genetic level and developed several shuttle vectors between E. coli and Bifidobacterium using them. Also, we have cloned and sequenced several metabolic genes and food grade selection marker. Also we have obtained bifidobacterial surface protein, which will be used as the mediator for surface display of foreign genes. Recently we have succeeded in expressing amylase and GFP in Bifidobacterium using our own expression vector system. Now we are in a very exciting stage for the molecular breeding and safe delivery system using probiotic Bifidobacterium strains.

IoT service and Research for Field of medicine application (IoT 서비스와 의료분야 적용에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, IoT technologies attract much attenction in medical area. Previous medical IoT had focused mainly on chronological diseases or fitness for particular users. Contrarily, medical use of the IoT technologies is now extended for medical institutes and hospitals to care intensively in-house patients, which requires typically more strict and reliable data delivery and security, authentication and authorization. This study defines scenario of the medical IoT for the intensive care and proposes an architecture of the medical IoT services. We implement a testbed using commerical sensors and Arduino board together with a Web-based platform. Experiment results on the testbed show that our approach can be feasible for the medical system in terms of latency and accuracy in medical data delivery.

  • Now, smart phone markets are grows quickly. So it is needed research of CDN(Contents Delivery Network) technology for contents transmission in mobile networks. Especially the services of smart phone are focused on open platform model. So P2P(Peer to Peer) protocols will be used for mobile network because it is a distributed network architecture composed of participants that make a portion of their resources directly available to other network participants, without the need for a central server. Current research of P2P protocols for mobile network are not activated. The reason is appropriate in the mobile P2P network simulation environment, since it is not provided. So, in this paper we design a mobile P2P simulation system for CDN based on mobile P2P.

On the Integrated Operation Concept and Development Requirements of Robotics Loading System for Increasing Logistics Efficiency of Sub-Terminal

  • Recently, consumers who prefer contactless consumption are increasing due to pandemic trends such as Corona 19. This is the driving force for developing the last mile-based logistics ecosystem centered on the online e-commerce market. Lastmile led to the continued development of the logistics industry, but increased the amount of cargo in urban area, and caused social problems such as overcrowding of logistics. The courier service in the logistics base area utilizes the process of visiting the delivery site directly because the courier must precede the loading work of the cargo in the truck for the delivery of the ordered product. Currently, it's carried out as automated logistics equipment such as conveyor belt in unloading or classification stage, but the automation system isn't applied, so the work efficiency is decreasing and the intensity of the courier worker's labor is increased. In particular, small-scale courier workers belonging to the sub-terminal unload at night at underdeveloped facilities outside the city center. Therefore, the productivity of the work is lowered and the risk of safety accidents is exposed, so robot-based loading technology is needed. In this paper, we have derived the top-level concept and requirements of robot-based loading system to increase the flexibility of logistics processing and to ensure the safety of courier drivers. We defined algorithms and motion concepts to increase the cargo loading efficiency of logistics sub-terminals through the requirements of end effector technology, which is important among concepts. Finally, the control technique was proposed to determine and position the load for design input development of the automatic conveyor system.

Effects of Experiential Value on Continuous Use Intention for On-Demand Services (온디맨드(On-Demand) 서비스의 지속사용의도에 대한 경험가치 효과)

  • On-Demand services have emerged as one of the core business strategies for delivering new experiential values by providing customized services in different user-needs nowadays. Based on the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework, this paper focuses on the factors of environmental stimulation and emotional states of the demand-side that induce continuous intention of use from the On-Demand services. The study defines 'Informativeness', 'Fulfillment', 'Trust', and 'Convenience' as the properties of the On-Demand services and considers 'Playfulness', 'Customer Return on Investment (CROI)', and 'Service Excellence' as the aspects of the experiential values. The research shows that 'Fulfillment', 'Trust' and 'Convenience' affected the experiential value in 'Kakao Taxi (On-Demand transportation service)' while 'Informativeness', 'Fulfillment', 'Trust of platform', and 'Convenience' are represented as the related factors to the experiential value in 'Baedal Minjok (On-Demand food delivery service)'. The experiential value factors, 'CROI' and 'Service Excellence', are shown directly related to the continuous intention of use in both services. A partial mediation relationship is, furthermore, observed between the aspects of 'CROI' and 'Service Excellence' in Kakao Taxi and its 'Convenience' and 'Continuous intention of use.' In Baedal Minjok, a partial mediation relationship is found between the 'CROI' with its aspects of 'Trust of the platform', 'Convenience', and 'Continuous intention of use' as well. The results of this study may contribute a comprehensive understanding of the purpose of On-Demand services and its needs from the demand-side thus can be helpful for the supply-side.

A Design and Implementation of a DCAT-based Metadata Transformation Tool for Interoperability in Open Data Platforms (오픈데이터 플랫폼의 상호운용성을 위한 DCAT 기반 메타데이터 변환도구 설계 및 구현)

  • As open data(public data) began to be recognized as a source of national economic development, many countries began to build public data portals and provide open data to the private sector. In accordance with this trend, open source communities have begun to develop open data platform such as CKAN and enable to share dataset among open data platforms by applying metadata standard technology. However, many governments and local governments are still making it difficult to share data between data portals because they build their own platforms. In this paper, we propose a DCAT-based metadata transformation tool to solve these problems, and show how to transform a dataset into DCAT.

Artificial Intelligence Technology Trends and IBM Watson References in the Medical Field (인공지능 왓슨 기술과 보건의료의 적용)

  • This literature review explores artificial intelligence (AI) technology trends and IBM Watson health and medical references. This study explains how healthcare will be changed by the evolution of AI technology, and also summarizes key technologies in AI, specifically the technology of IBM Watson. We look at this issue from the perspective of 'information overload,' in that medical literature doubles every three years, with approximately 700,000 new scientific articles being published every year, in addition to the explosion of patient data. Estimates are also forecasting a shortage of oncologists, with the demand expected to grow by 42%. Due to this projected shortage, physicians won't likely be able to explore the best treatment options for patients in clinical trials. This issue can be addressed by the AI Watson motivation to solve healthcare industry issues. In addition, the Watson Oncology solution is reviewed from the end user interface point of view. This study also investigates global company platform business to explain how AI and machine learning technology are expanding in the market with use cases. It emphasizes ecosystem partner business models that can support startup and venture businesses including healthcare models. Finally, we identify a need for healthcare company partnerships to be reviewed from the aspect of solution transformation. AI and Watson will change a lot in the healthcare business. This study addresses what we need to prepare for AI, Cognitive Era those are understanding of AI innovation, Cloud Platform business, the importance of data sets, and needs for further enhancement in our knowledge base.

A Study to Apply A Fog Computing Platform (포그 컴퓨팅 플랫폼 적용성 연구)

  • As IoT systems such as smart farms and smart cities become popular, a large amount of data collected from many sensor nodes is sent to a server in the Internet, which causes network traffic explosion, delay in delivery, and increase of server's workload. To solve these problems, the concept of fog computing has been proposed to store data between IoT systems and servers. In this study, we implemented a software platform of the fog node and applied it to the prototype smart farm system in order to check whether the problems listed above can be solved when using the fog node. When the fog node is used, the time taken to control an IoT device is lower than the response time of the existing IoT device-server case. We confirmed that it can also solve the problem of the Internet traffic explosion and the workload increase in the server. We also showed that the intelligent control of IoT system is feasible by having the data visualization in the server and real time remote control, emergency notification in the fog node as well as data storage which is the basic capability of the fog node.

Development ofn Sharing Space Access Management System based on Mobile Key and RCU(Room Control Unit) (모바일 키 및 RCU에 기반한 공유공간 출입관리 시스템 개발)

  • Recently, the importance of non-face-to-face has been emphasized due to COVID-19, and the use of sharing spaces is also expanding. The use of uncontact check-in technology for access control of sharing spaces reduces waiting time and optimizes workers' efficiency, resulting in operational cost savings. In this paper, we propose a sharing space access management system based on a mobile key and RCU (Room Control Unit), access to the facility using a mobile key, and monitor the facility using an RCU. Proposal system is for shared accommodation, rental field (residence, sale-selling hotel), shared office, etc. when there is a one-time visitor on a specific day and time, the corresponding password is delivered to the mobile platform to expose and key the existing password. It is supported by a field-adaptive system that can reduce discomfort such as delivery. In order to test the operation of the proposed integrated system, tests were conducted according to scenarios to understand the overall status of the user's reservation, check-in, and check-out, and a 100% success rate was derived for each item by setting performance indicators to prove test reliability.

Leg Structure based on Counterbalance Mechanism for Environmental Adaptive Robot (환경 적응형 로봇의 기계식 중력보상 기반 다리 구조)

  • As the COVID-19 continues, the demand for robotic technology that can be applied in face-to-face tasks such as delivery and transportation, is increasing. Although these technologies have been developed and applied in various industries, the robots can only be operated in a tidy indoor environment and have limitations in terms of payload. To overcome these problems, we developed a 2 degree of freedom(DOF) environmental adaptive robot leg with a double 1-DOF counterbalance mechanism (CBM) based on wire roller. The double 1-DOF CBM is applied to the two revolute joints of the proposed robot leg to compensate for the weight of the mobile robot platform and part of the payload. In addition, the link of the robot leg is designed in a parallelogram structure based on a belt pulley to enable efficient control of the mobile platform. In this study, we propose the principle and structure of the CBM that is suitable for the robot leg, and design of the counterbalance robot leg module for the environment-adaptive control. Further, we verify the performance of the proposed counterbalance robot leg by using dynamic simulations and experiments.
