  • An in-line dispersive delay line (DDL) demands low and controllable reflectivity of the reflectors, especially if the surface acoustic wave (SAW) propagates all the way along the reflecting structure. The metal reflectors are usually too strong and introduce too much attenuation in such a device. The proposed solution of this problem is to spatially separate the acoustic channels for different frequencies with the help of Fan-shaped Transducers (FIDT) and to use narrow open metal reflectors to reduce reflectivity. Special arrangement of FIDT is performed to use 180-deg. reflection of the SAW. Narrow open metal strips with a metallisation ratio of the order of 20% are used as reflectors with small and controllable reflectivity. Reflectivity of such strips is estimated both theoretically and experimentally. Experimental performance of the proposed DDL is presented.

  • This paper presents the design and manufacturing of a sensor using SAW and delay line in order to measure temperature. SAW sensors having single and double electrodes are manufactured on the $128^{\circ}YX-LiNbO_3$ substrate, and its process is addressed. Before manufacturing, the device is simulated using a commercial finite element program. The frequency responses of the saw sensor on the temperature change is measured. Since the center frequency on the temperature change from $-30^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$ is linearly changed, the saw sensor is applicable to measure the temperature change or strain variation.

  • In this paper, complete and general two-port lumped Spice-network model is developed for a lossy transmission line. This model is realized as a Spice subcircuit, by means of standard lumped network elements and mathematical functions. It is used as a component in the time-domain simulation of a high-speed data transmission line such as IMI(Inter Module Interface) data path in HANbit ACE 64 ATM switching system. The only required Spice network elements are resistance and frequency-dependent controlled-voltage sources. Such frequency-dependent sources are realized by utilizing the standard Hspice mathematical functions FREQ, DELAY, and POLY.

  • We propose and experimentally demonstrate a simple tunable photonic microwave band-pass filter with high resolution using a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) and an optical time-delay line. The RSOA is used as a gain medium for generating cross-gain modulation (XGM) effect as well as an optical source. The optical source provides narrow spectral width by self-injection locking the RSOA in conjunction with a partial reflection filter with specific center wavelength. Then, when the RSOA is operated in the saturation region and the modulated recursive signal is injected into the RSOA, the recursive signal is inversely copied to the injection locked optical source due to the XGM effect. Also, the tunability of the passband of the proposed microwave filter is shown by controlling an optical time-delay line in a recursive loop.

  • This paper describes a single-server queue where the server is unavailable during some intervals of time, which is referred to as vacations. The major contribution of this work is to derive general formulas for the additional delay in the vacation models of the single vacations, head of line priority queues with non-preemptive service, and multiple vacations and idle time.

  • When the error path can be modeled as a pure delay, an adaptive algorithm for slowly time varying system is proposed to minimize the sound pressure level. This algorithm makes it possible to use the fittered-x LMS algorithm with on-line delay modeling of the error path. Another simple adaptive algorithm for pure tone noise is proposed which eliminates the cross term in the multiple error filtered-x LMS algorithm.

  • This paper describes new sense amplifier with fast sensing delay time of 0.54ns and 32kb CMOS embedded SRAM with 4.67ns access time for a 3-V powr supply. It was achieved using the sense amplifier with multiple point sensing scheme and high speed bit-line scheme. The sense amplifier saves 25% of the power dissipation compared with the conventional one while maintaining a very short sensing delay. The SRAM uses 0.5.mu.m double-polysilicon and triplemetal CMOS process technology. A die size is 1.78mm*2.13mm.

  • This paper considers the parameter estimation for the state-space model based time-delay systems in the case that the Lyapunov stability of the system is guaranteed. In order to estimate the parameters, two estimation methods can be proposed which are known as the parallel model and the series parallel model. It is shown that the parameters can be estimated using each method, and also certied that the results are correct by simulations.

  • The transmission line effects of IC interconnects have a substantial effect on a hish-speed VLSI circuit performance. The effective transmission lime parameters are changed with the increase of the operation frequency because of the skin of the skin effect, proximity effect, and silicon substrate. A new signal delay estimation methodology based on the RLC-distributed circuit model is presented [2]. The methodology is demonstrated by using SPICE simulation and a high-frequency experiment technique.
