The Influencing of Aging on Time Preference in Indonesia

  • Purpose: The influence of age on time preference is not identified in the usual cross-sectional analysis. This study aims to test whether age affects time preference after controlling for the effects of individual heterogeneity including cohort effects. Research design, data and methodology: Drawing on a nationally representative panel dataset of Indonesians, we estimate the effects of age on time preference after controlling for unobserved individual heterogeneity as well as potential cohort effects. We measure time preference exploiting information on two sets of multiple price lists: one for a one-year delay, and the other for a five-year delay. Results: When we controlled for time-invariant individual characteristics, including birth cohort effects in a fixed effects model, the older men and women were more patient in a linear fashion, particularly when the delay was longer. To highlight the importance of controlling for individual fixed effects, we repeated the specification without controlling for individual fixed effects in OLS or censored maximum likelihood regression; we found no relation between age and impatience in men or women and for a one or five-year delay. Conclusions: The older men and women are more patient, and time preferences are correlated with unobserved individual heterogeneity.

  • OFDMA 시스템에서는 순환지연 다이버시티는 다이버시티 효과에 의해서 시스템 성능을 증대시킨다. 그러나 블록호핑 SC-FDMA 시스템에서 순환지연 다이버시티의 적용은 다이버시티 효과에 의한 성능 증대효과와, 채널이 주파수 선택적이 됨으로-인한 성능의 감소효과가 동시에 발생한다. 따라서 시스템 성능을 최대화하기 위해서는 순환지연 다이버시티의 지연간을 적절히 선택하는 것이 필요하다. 이 논문에서는 이 두 가지 상반되는 효과와 블록호핑 SC-FDMA 시스템에서 순환지연 다이버시티를 적용할 때 순환지연값을 결정하는 방법에 대해 논의한다.

시간 지연을 갖는 2차 시스템 모델링 기법을 이용한 외란 관측기 설계 (Design of a Disturbance Observer Using a Second-Order System Plus Dead Time Modeling Technique)

  • This paper presents a method for designing a robust controller that alleviates disturbance effects and compensates performance degradation owing to the time-delay. Disturbance observer(DOB) approach as a tool of robust control has been widely employed in industry. However, since the Pade approximation of time-delay makes the plant non-minimum phase, the classical DOB cannot be applied directly to the system with time-delay. By using a new DOB structure for non-minimum phase systems together with the Smith Predictor, we propose a new controller for reducing the both effects of disturbance and time-delay. Moreover, the closed-loop system can be made robust against uncertain time-delay with the help of a Pill controller tuning method that is based on a second-order plus dead time modeling technique.

  • We propose a stochastic delay financial model which describes influences driven by historical events. The underlying is modeled by stochastic delay differential equation (SDDE), and the delay effect is modeled by a stopping time in coefficient functions. While this model makes good economical sense, it is difficult to mathematically deal with this. Therefore, we circumvent this model with similar delay effects but mathematically more tractable, which is by the backward time integration. We derive the option pricing equation and provide the option price and the perfect hedging portfolio.

  • The effects of wall charge and bias voltage on exo-electron emission currents were examined. In addition, the effects of doping elements on the currents were investigated. These results indicated that the statistical delay is inversely proportional to the exo-electron emission currents measured.

  • This paper deals with a robust controller design problem for a small one-link robot arm system subject to input time delay and load variations. The uncertain parameters of the system are considered as a disturbance input. A disturbance observer(DOB) has been designed to alleviate disturbance effects and to compensate performance degradation owing to the time-delay. This paper employs a new DOB structure for non-minimum phase systems together with the Smith predictor. We propose a new controller for reducing the both effects of disturbance and time-delay. In order to test the performance of proposed controller, four different other control laws are compared with the proposed one by computer simulations. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

가상 셀룰라 망(VCN)에서의 음성 패킷 지연 특성 (Delay characteristics of speech packets in virtual cellular network(VCN))

  • 본 논문에서는 Virtual Cellular Network(VCN)을 사용하는 무선 통신망에서 음성 패킷의 지연 특성을 분석하였다. 주기적으로 발생하는 음성 패킷이 슬롯-알로하 프로토콜로 전송될 때의 전송 특성을 Markov Chain으로 모델링하여 정상 상태(steady state)에서의 지연 확률 분포를 구하였고, 무선 채널의 평균 수신확률(prbability of capture), 재전송 방식 등이 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 무선 단말기의 수신 확률의 변화에 따른 음성 패킷의 전송 지연 누적 확률 함수를 구하였다. 재전송 방식의 평균 backoff 시간이 성능에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 음성 패킷 발생 주기(N 슬롯시간)당 평균 재전송 횟수, NPr을 파라미터로 정의하였으며 여러가지의 프레임 크기 N에 대하여 1% outage delay를 비교하였다. 성능 실험 결과 NPr의 최적의 범위는 4~7임을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 프레임 크기 N이 주어졌을 때의 재전송 시도 확률 Pr을 구할 수 있다. 또한 전송큐의 크기가 유한함으로써 발생하는 blocking 확률과 전송큐의 적절한 크기를 구하였다.

THE IMPACT OF DELAY IN THE TREATMENT OF AUTOINFLAMMATORY DISEASE WITH A MATHEMATICAL MODEL

  • Immunological imbalance eventually results in the development of various diseases. A typical example is an imbalance of cytokines with immunomodulatory abilities. In this paper, we propose a two-variable delay model to anti-pro-inflammatory cytokine therapy for autoimmune diseases, which are caused by an imbalance between the pro and anti-inflammatory cytokines. The interaction between pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines were modeled mathematically to investigate the relevance of cytokines in disease processes. The delay time was estimated to maintain the stability of a biologically important steady state. In particular, the effects of delay with anti-pro-inflammatory cytokines therapy in autoinflammatory diseases were studied.

항공사 정시성에 영향을 주는 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Factors that Affect the On-Time Performances of Airline Companies)

  • 항공사에서 정시성(on-time performance, OTP)이란, 항공사의 신뢰성의 척도이며, 타 항공사와 비교할 때 중요한 지표로 활용된다. 본 연구는 코로나로 인해 항공 편수가 급격히 줄어든 2020년 3월을 기준으로 전후 1년간의 국내 K항공사 자료를 분석하여 지연 요인들이 항공사의 정시성에 미치는 영향 및 강도를 분석하였다. 또한, 계절에 따른 기상 영향으로 발생되는 지연을 분석하였으며, 코로나 상황으로 급감한 승객이 지연요인에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 연구하였다. 지연 요인(delay factor)은 IATA의 지연 코드(delay code)에 자체 코드를 추가한 K 항공사의 지연 코드를 적용하였다. 본 연구의 분석을 바탕으로 항공사의 정시성에 영향을 주는 지연 요인을 최소화하는 방안을 제안하고자 한다.
