  • In this paper, we proposed an optical true time-delay (TTD) feeder system for phased array antennas (PAAs). The system possesses high-speed beam scan capability since, in this scheme, different lengths of fiber delay-lines are selected by optical 2${\times}$2 MEMS switches at high speed. An optical TTD capable of beam scanning in one of eight different directions has been built for 10 GHz linear PAA systems. Experimental results on time delay measurements show that the maximum time delay error is less than 0.2 ps corresponding to a scan angle error of less than 0.84o. We have also designed a 10 GHz linear PAA composed of eight micro-strip patch antenna elements driven by the proposed TTD, and the radiation patterns of this PAA have been analyzed by simulation.

  • Delay, delay variation and packet loss rate are principal QoS(Quality of Service) elements of packet communication. This paper proposes a new buffer allocation mechanism to improve the packet loss performance in such a situation that multiple logical buffers share a single physical memory buffer. In the proposed buffer allocation mechanism, the movement of dynamic threshold follows a curved track instead of a straight line which is used in the DT(dynamic threshold) mechanism. In order evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism, it is compared with the existing previously proposed mechanisms in several aspects including NC(no control), ST(Static Threshold) and DT mechanisms.

  • An important problem associated with adaptive sidelobe canceller(SLC) systems is that their performance deteriorates with an increase in jammers arriving from different directions. Generally the number of jammers which can be effectively cancelled is limited by the number of the auxiliary elements in a SLC system. But the single-auxiliary-element with tapped delay line adaptive filter can effectively cancel multiple jammers. Therefore this paper proposed the spatio-temporal processing structure cascading adaptive array and tapped delay line adaptive filter and showed that this could obtain more rapid convergence rate and an increase of DOF without increasing the number of element.

  • This paper presents an extended integral control with the PI controller by introducing the delay and decaying factors. The extended integral control scheme is developed by substituting the proportional convolution integral control for the PI(Proportional Integral) control. So far, the integral part of PI controller produces a signal that is proportional to the time integral of the input signal to the controller. The steady-state operation points are affected forever by errors in the past due to the input signal containing the information of the error in the past. These phenomena may cause some disturbances for other control purposes related to the given PI control. Introduction of forgetting factors to the error in the past can resolve the disturbance problems. Various forgetting factors are developed using the delay elements, the decaying factors, and the combination of the delay and decaying factors. The proposed various extended integral control schemes can be applicable to the corresponding PI control designs in which the error in the past may badly affect the current steady-state operation points and may cause some disturbances for other control purposes.

  • This paper aims at analyzing the traffic of CDMA base station. RTD(Round Trip Delay) method, used for the study, is one of the developed tool for calculating the call setup time between the BTS(Base Station TransceiverSubsystem) and mobile station. We compare the calculated call setup time in air with the field experiments. And we suggest the RTD method for dividing the traffic of the connected repeater from that of the BTS, andwe can testify it by the experiment which analyze the difference of the received time between the base stationand the repeater including the forced delay elements.

  • Due to the asymptotic property, deadbeat control can hardly be applied to the continuous time system control. But some delay element method can deal such a problem. Besides delay element method, well-known digital deadbeat control can be used by the aid of some smoothing elements. In this paper, 2nd order smoothing element is used for the smoothing of the digital deadbeat controller. And this element is argumented to the plant, and so control problem is to control the argumented system digitally. We simulated this control system using Matlab language and finally apply this algorithm to the rotary inverted pendulum system.

  • In this paper, we proposed an optical true time-delay (TTD) for planar phased array antennas (PAAs), which is composed of a wavelength-dependent optical true time delay (WDOTTD) followed by a wavelength-independent optical true time delay (WIOTTD). The WDOTTD is a fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) Prism and the WDOTTD is a fiber delay-lines matrix of which each component consists of a certain length of fiber connected to cross-ports of a 2${\times}$2 MEMS switch. A 10-GHz 2-bit${\times}$4-bit two-dimensional optical TTD has been fabricated by cascading a WDOTTD with a maximum time delay of 810 ps to a WIOTTD of $\pm$50 ps. Time delay and insertion loss for each radiation angle have been measured. Time delay error for the WIOTTD has been measured to be less than $\pm$1 ps. We have also designed a two-dimensional 10-GHz PAA composed of 8${\times}$8 microstrip patch antenna elements driven by the proposed TTD. The radiation patterns of this PAA have been obtained by simulation and analyzed.

  • In this study, investigation of spent fuel was performed using six group delayed neutron parameters. Three used fuels (F1, F2, and F11) which are burnt over the years in the core of Missouri University of Science and Technology Reactor (MSTR), were investigated. F16 fresh fuel was used as plutonium free fuel element and compared with irradiated used fuels to develop burnup and Pu discrimination method. The fast fission factor of the MSTR was calculated to be 1.071 which was used for burnup calculations. Burnup values of F2 and F11 fuel elements were estimated to be 1.98 g and 2.7 g, respectively. $^{239}Pu$ conversion was calculated to be 0.36 g and 0.50 g for F2 and F11 elements, respectively.

  • At center frequency of 11.85 GHz, wideband left-handed circularly polarized microstrip array antenna is designed with the method of sequential ratation based on $2\times2$ radiation elements($0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$ phase delay). Its return loss, axial ratio bandwidth, radration pattern, and gain are compared with those adopting sequential rotation based on $1\times2$ radiation elements($0^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$, $270^{\circ}$phase delay). The $8\times8$ array is manufactured and measured. The results show that 10 dB return loss bandwidth is 10.51~12.74GHz(18.82%) which is 1.57 times wider than the case using $1\times2$ sequential rotation method, 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth is 11.43~12.5 GHz(9.03%) which is 1.25 times as wide as that using $1\times2$ sequential rotation method and the antennal gain is 25.4 dB. The results of mesurements are almost similar to those of simulation.
