To utilize effectively fish skin wasted from fish processing, a yellowfin sole skin gelatin was prepared by alkaline extraction method and the physico-chemical properties were examined. Conditions for the suitable extraction and decolorization for gelatin preparation from yellowfin sole skin are as follows: the skin is limed with 1.5% calcium hydroxide solution at $5^{\circ}C$ for 5 days, washed throughly with tap water, extracted with 6 volumes of water ($pH5.0{\sim}7.0$) to dehydrated skin for 3 hours at $50^{\circ}C$, and then bleached with 3% activated carbon. Though yellowfin sole skin gelatin was prepared under above condition, the physico-chemical property values such the melting point and gelling point of that were lower than those of pork skin gelatin. Therefore, the purified yellowfin sole skin gelatin requires a suitable modification operation for more a good quality gelatin manufacture.

Two isomers of a new tetraaza macrotricycle 2,2,4,9,9,11-hexaazamethyl-1,5,8,12-tetraazatricyclo[$10.2.2^{5.8}$]-octadecane ($L^2$) containing additional N-$CH_2CH_2$-N linkages, C-meso-$L^2$ and C-racemic-$L^2$, have been prepared by the reaction of 1-bromo-2-chloroethane with C-meso-$L^1$ or C-racemic-$L^1$ ($L^1$ = 5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane). Both C-meso-$L^2$ and C-racemic-$L^2$ react with copper(II) ion to form $[Cu(C-meso-L^2)]^{2+}$ or $[Cu(C-racemic-L^2)]^{2+}$ in dehydrated ethanol, but do not with nickel(II) ion under similar conditions. Crystal structure of [Cu(C-racemic-$L^2$)($H_2O$)]$(ClO_4)_2$ shows that the complex has distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry with an apically coordinated water molecule. Unexpectedly, the Cu-N distances [2.016(3)-2.030(3) ${\AA}$] of [Cu(C-racemic-$L^2$)($H_2O$)]$(ClO_4)_2$ are longer than those [1.992(3)-2.000(3) ${\AA}$] of [Cu(C-racemic-$L^1$)($H_2O$)]$(ClO_4)_2$. As a result, $[Cu(C-racemic-L^2)(H_2O)]^{2+}$ exhibits weaker ligand field strength than $[Cu(C-racemic-L^1)(H_2O)]^{2+}$. The copper(II) complexes readily react with CN- ion to yield the cyano-bridged dinuclear complex $[Cu_2(C-meso-L^2)_2CN]^{3+}$ or $[Cu_2(C-racemic-L^2)_2CN]^{3+}$. Spectra and chemical properties of $[Cu(C-meso-L^2)]^{2+}$ and $[Cu_2(C-meso-L^2)_2CN]^{3+}$ are not quite different from those of $[Cu(C-racemic-L^2)]^{2+}$ and $[Cu_2(C-racemic-L^2)_2CN]^{3+}$, respectively.

We fabricates the $TiO_2$ thin film from anatase phase $TiO_2$ powder having good photocatalytic property using aerosol deposition method at room temperature. Aerosol deposition method, which sprays an aerosol powder with ultrasonic velocity and deposits a thin film on substrate at low temperature, has the advantages of low thermal stress and low cost. To fabricate the $TiO_2$ thin film, the aerosol bath pressure and chamber pressure were 500 torr and 0.4 torr, respectively. The difference of aerosol bath pressure and chamber pressure accelerated the $TiO_2$ nano powder to ultrasonic velocity through the nozzle of $0.4 mm{\times}10 mm$ and $TiO_2$ thin film was finally formed. SS mesh with diameter of 50 mm was used as a substrate to apply the $TiO_2$ thin film to water quality purification. The raw powder was dehydrated for the good dispersion of $TiO_2$ powder. To suppress the formation of second particle, the powder was dispersed for 90 min in alcohol bath by ultrasonic treatment and desiccated. The grain size of $1 {\mu}m$ was observed in $TiO_2$ thin film deposited on SUS mesh by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The anatase phase of $TiO_2$ thin film was also observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the anatase phase of raw powder was nicely maintained after aerosol deposition. The results are applicable to water treatment filter having photocatalytic reaction.

The re-crystallization process for recovering granular crystalline gypsum from phospho-gypsum have proposed. The process consists of two stages; at the first stage, needle-like fine gypsum is recovered with under-product of 325 mesh wet screening after the speedy hydration of dehydrated phospho-gypsum, and at the second stage, granular crystalline gypsum is recovered with upper-product of 325 mesh wet screening after dehydration and re-crystallization of the needle-like fine gypsum in $Na_2SO_4$ solution. This paper is mainly focused on the influence of dehydration time, cooling speed of temperature and re-crystallization temperature on the recovery of granular crystalline gypsum. And the re-crystallization velocity of needle-like fine gypsum at room temperature and the variation of $Ca^{2+}$ concentration of gypsum slurry during over all re-crystallization process were also discussed.

In Korea, fireproof performance is evaluated through a series of fire-resistance tests for important structures, and the performance standard follows the guidelines suggested by ITA. The fireproof duct slab manufactured by combining the slab and the fireproof material with a precast method is effective in that it can eliminate the construction time of the fireproof material. In this study, a series of fire resistance tests was performed on the fire test specimens under the RWS fire scenario in order to secure the fire resistance performance of the precast fireproof duct slab. As a result of the test, it was found that the fireproof performance was secured when the thickness of the fireproof material was 30 mm or more. In both fireproof materials and concrete, the rate of temperature change initially increased, then decreased, and then increased again, and the temperature at the inflection point was measured as 110℃ for all fireproof materials and concrete. It is judged that this occurs when the C-S-H (CaO-SiO2-H2O) generated by the hydration reaction in both the fireproof material and concrete is dehydrated.
Objective: The objectives were to assess the effects of purified lignin from wheat straw (sodium hydroxide dehydrated lignin; SHDL) on in vitro ruminal fermentation and on the growth performance of feedlot cattle. Methods: In vitro experiments were conducted by incubating a timothy-alfalfa (50:50) forage mixture (48 h) and barley grain (24 h) with 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mg/mL of rumen fluid (equivalent to 0, 2, 4, 8, and 16 g SHDL/kg diet). Productions of $CH_4$ and total gas, volatile fatty acids, ammonia, dry matter (DM) disappearance (DMD) and digestion of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) or starch were measured. Sixty Hereford-Angus cross weaned steer calves were individually fed a typical barley silage-barley grain based total mixed ration and supplemented with SHDL at 0, 4, 8, and 16 g/kg DM for 70 (growing), 28 (transition), and 121 d (finishing) period. Cattle were slaughtered at the end of the experiment and carcass traits were assessed. Results: With forage, SHDL linearly (p<0.001) reduced 48-h in vitro DMD from 54.9% to 39.2%, NDF disappearance from 34.1% to 18.6% and the acetate: propionate ratio from 2.56 to 2.41, but linearly (p<0.001) increased $CH_4$ production from 9.5 to 12.4 mL/100 mg DMD. With barley grain, SHDL linearly increased (p<0.001) 24-h DMD from74.6% to 84.5%, but linearly (p<0.001) reduced $CH_4$ production from 5.6 to 4.2 mL/100 mg DMD and $NH_3$ accumulation from 9.15 to $4.49{\mu}mol/mL$. Supplementation of SHDL did not affect growth, but tended (p = 0.10) to linearly reduce feed intake, and quadratically increased (p = 0.059) feed efficiency during the finishing period. Addition of SHDL also tended (p = 0.098) to linearly increase the saleable meat yield of the carcass from 52.5% to 55.7%. Conclusion: Purified lignin used as feed additive has potential to improve feed efficiency for finishing feedlot cattle and carcass quality.

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of several implant surface treatments to the bone formation, by placing Machined implants, 75${\mu}m$ Calcium phosphate-blasted implants and $Al_2O_3$-blasted and acid-etched implants in rabbit tibia through histomorphometric study. Two animals of each group were sacrificed at 2, 4, 8 weeks. The specimens containing the implants were dehydrated and embedded into hard methylmethacrylate plastic. Thereafter, the sections were ground to 50${\mu}m$. The specimens were stained with Villanueva bone stain for a light microscopic study. The results were as follows; 1. When the surface roughness of three different implants was measured by Surfcorder, the Ra of the Machined group, the RBM group and the SLA group was 0.16${\mu}m$, 0.44${\mu}m$, and 1.08${\mu}m$. 2. When examining the surfaces of the implants in the scanning microscope, Machined implant has the smooth surface with a few scratches, RBM implant has the rough surface with curled ridges and valleys, and SLA implant has the rough surface structures such as sharp protruding parts and micropits measuring 1-2${\mu}m$ in diameter. 3. After 2 weeks of implantation, the percentage of bone-to-implant contact of the Machined group, the RBM group and the SLA group was 26.86%, 35.40% and 45.99%. However, its differences between each group decreased during the healing periods. 4. After 2 weeks of implantation, the percentage of bone area inside the threads of the Machined group, the RBM group and the SLA group were 21.55%, 30.43% and 41.18%. However, its difference of bone area between machined group and surface treatment groups was maintained but the difference within the surface treatment groups decreased during the healing periods. In summary, the amount of bone formation in RBM and SLA group was greater than Machined group in early healing stage. These results suggest that RBM and SLA implants can reduce the healing period for osseointegration and may be suitable for early function.
The purpose of this study was to compare the shaping time of two shaping methods and the leakage of three different obturation techniques. Ninty three canaled human molar teeth were used, which were randomly divided into two groups of forty teeth each and ten control teeth. After working length determination, the one group was prepared crown-down technique using rotary root canal instruments of GT rotary files .12/20, .10/20, .08/20 and .06/20 taper(Maillefer Instrument SA. Switzerland). The other group was instrumented with Gates Glidden burs(#1, #2, and #3) to coronal preparation and GT rotary files .08/20 and .06/30 taper to apical preparation. Shaping time was measured. After root canals were instrumented, they were divided to three subgroups and obturated as follows : Subgroup 1, obturated with single cone method Subgroup 2, obturated with lateral condensation : Subgroup 3, obturated with continuous wave technique. Three subgroups were obturated using non-standardized gutta-percha cone(Diadent, Korea, .06 or .08 taper) and AH-26(Dentsply DeTrey, Germany) as a root canal cement. Ten unobturated teeth served as positive and negative controls. After immersion in 2% methylene blue solution for 1 month, the teeth were washed during 24h. The teeth were demineralized in 10% nitric acid and dehydrated by immersion in 80, 90 and 100% ethyl alcohol. The teeth were finally cleared and stored in 100% methylsalicylate, and apical dye penetration was evaluated under stereomicroscope(Leica M420, LC, U.S.A)at $\times$8.75 magnification. Liner measurement of dye penetration was assessed with the use of digitalized image analysing system (analySIS, GmbH, Germany) The data were analysed statistically using independent T-test and Two-way ANOVA and Tukey test. The result were as follows 1. In canal prepared with GT$^{TM}$ rotary file, shaphing time taked more than the group of using Gates Glidden drill to coronal preparation without statistical significance (p>0.05) 2. The group of single cone obturation using canal preparation of GT$^{TM}$ rotary files showed significantly more apical leakage than those of lateral condensation and continuous wave technique regardless of shaping method (p<0.05). 3 The group of single cone obturation using canal preparation of GT$^{TM}$ rotary files and Gates Glidden drill showed significantly more apical leakage than those of continuous wave technique regardless of shaping method (p<0.05). 4. Regardless of shaping method, The group of continuous wave obturation showed less apical leakage than those of lateral condensation without statistical significance (p>0.05). 5. The group of single cone obturation using canal preparation of GT$^{TM}$ rotary files and Gates Glidden drill showed more apical leakage than the group of lateral condensation using same shaping method with-out statistical significance (p>0.05).

This study aimed to investigate the effect of chicken feet gelatin on physicochemical and sensory properties of restructured chicken jerky. Chicken feet swollen with hydrochloric solution (0.1 N HCl) were neutralized with flowing tap water, and gelatin was extracted with hot water at $75^{\circ}C$. The obtained chicken feet gelatin was dehydrated via freeze-drying. Restructured chicken jerky samples were prepared by adding the following amount of chicken feet gelatin 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%. The moisture and protein content of samples increased with an increased chicken feet gelatin. In addition, the drying yield of the samples increased with an increase in chicken feet gelatin. However, the shear force of samples significantly decreased with the increasing chicken feet gelatin content and the shear force of the control samples was the highest (P<0.05). No significant differences, except for color, were observed in the sensory analysis among the treatments. Therefore, usages of chicken feet gelatin can provide improved quality characteristics of restructured chicken jerky.
