미기복 지형 표현을 위한 DEM 개선 (Updating DEM for Improving Geomorphic Details)

  • 등고선에서 생성된 DEM(digital elevation model)은 고도 간격에 따라 미지형 요소 표현에 절대적인 영향을 받기 때문에 미기복 지형이 잘 표현되지 않는 문제가 발생한다. 이를 보완하기 위해 지표피복에 고도정보를 입력하여 buffering과 지도대수 연산기법을 적용하며 미기복 지형을 복원하는 Landcover burning 기법을 개발하고자 하였다. 미지형복원과정은 등고선에서 일차 DEM 생성, 지표피복도 제작, 지표피복요소 중 미지형요소에 대한 buffering 기법에 의한 고도정보 복원, 피복인자에 대한 지도대수 연산을 통한 고도정보 입력에 의해 DEM을 복원하였다. 미지형복원은 하천지형을 중심으로 적용하였다. buffering에 의한 지형복원은 면적인(polygonal) 요소인 사력퇴, 습지에 대해서 지형형상이 오목 혹은 볼록 지형의 특성에 맞추어 일정간격의 등고선을 생성하여 지형을 복원한 후, 고도 정보를 입력하여 복원하였다. 선형적인 요소인 제방, 도로, 수로, 지류는 지도대수함수를 이용하여 지형을 복원할 수 있었다. 하상, 하안단구, 인공지물(농경지)과 같은 면적인 요소들은 평탄하기 때문에 일정한 고도값을 입력하여 지형면을 복원하였다. 연구결과는 단면도를 제작하여 원래의 DEM과 복원된 DEM의 지형표현 정도를 비교 분석하였다. 분석한 결과, 기존의 방법으로 제작된 DEM은 미지형적인 요소들이 거의 표현되지 않았다. 본 연구에서 개발된 방법은 습지, 사력퇴, 하천주변의 지형, 농경지, 제방, 하안단구, 인공지물 위치가 비교적 잘 표현되었다. 본 연구는 중소규모의 저기복 구릉대나 평야지대의 미지형분류와 분석, 하천 주변 미지형복원이 필요한 생태 및 환경분야 연구에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

Coexistence of Gilbert Syndrome and Hereditary Spherocytosis in a Child Presenting with Extreme Jaundice

  • Gilbert syndrome is the most common inherited disorder of bilirubin glucuronidation. It is characterized by intermittent episodes of jaundice in the absence of hepatocellular disease or hemolysis. Hereditary spherocytosis is the most common inherited hemolytic anemia and is characterized by spherical, osmotically fragile erythrocytes that are selectively trapped by the spleen. The patients have variable degrees of anemia, jaundice, and splenomegaly. Hereditary spherocytosis usually leads to mild-to-moderate elevation of serum bilirubin levels. Severe hyperbilirubinemia compared with the degree of hemolysis should be lead to suspicion of additional clinical conditions such as Gilbert syndrome or thalassemia. We present the case of a 12-year-old boy with extreme jaundice and nausea. The diagnosis of hereditary spherocytosis was confirmed by osmotic fragility test results and that of Gilbert syndrome by genetic analysis findings.

국내기업의 효과적 경쟁정보활동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Effective Competitive Intelligence of Korean Firms)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of elements related to the competitive intelligence(CI) process, methods, and infrastructure in accordance with the degree of CI effectiveness of domestic firms and to propose a guideline for designing and operating an effective CI program in Korean films. The results of this study reveal that, for the elevation of CI effectiveness of Korean firms, it is important to actively utilize the overall CI process, including undisclosed information through human networks, public information through various media, and quantitative and qualitative analyses, an independent CI unit, various CI support systems, such as information and reward systems, and organizational culture of CI openness within an organization. However, CI outsourcing, CI primary objectives, and CI scale do not seem to have a significant influence on CI effectiveness of Korean firms. Based on these results, this research presents some important implications for effective competitive intelligence for Korean firms.

GIS를 활용한 급경사지 재해현장 분석 -전북 무주군, 장수군, 진안군 중심으로- (Analysis of Steep slope Disaster Sites using Geographic Information System)

  • There are human casualties that caused by slope-stability related disasters such as landslide and debris flow during typhoon and rainy season every year in Korea. These disaster sites can be analyzed systematically using digital topographic data and aerial photogrammetry. In this study, geographical factors such as slope degree, geology, height, and soil depth are analyzed in four landslide-disaster sites from Muju, Jinan, and Jangsu County based on digital elevation maps generated by ArcGIS. Each site showed different characteristics in geology and geography and it is found that GIS can be utilized for the visualization of steep-slope failure areas.

2006년 춘천지역 산사태 유발 강우와 사면의 기하 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Rainfall Triggering Landslides and Geometry of Slopes in Chuncheon during 2006)

  • This paper is results of analyzing the characteristics of rainfall triggering landslides and geometry of slopes, caused by the heavy rainfall and antecedent precipitation by Typhoons Ewiniar and Bilis at Chuncheon area in Gangwondo around July in 2006. As results of analyzing the characteristics of rainfall, landslides in 131 sites were found to happen due to the heavy rainfall having the maximum intensity of rainfall in an hour during July 15 and antecedent precipitation during July 12 to 14 causing the ground to be weak by increasing the degree of saturation previously. From results of analyzing the geometrical characteristics of 131 slopes where landslides occurred, the slope width were in the range of 6~10m. The average slope length and angle were 46m and $51.8^{\circ}$, which was relatively steep slope, respectively. Landlises occurred in the elevation of 400 - 500 m with the most probable frequency.

  • Velopharyngeal function refers to the combined activity of the soft palate and pharynx in closing and opening the velopharyngeal port to the required degree. In normal speech, during the production of oral consonant sounds elevation of the soft palate, along with the superior constrictor muscle, occludes the oropharynx from the nasopharynx. Inadequate velopharyngeal function caused by congenital or acquired insufficiency or incompetency may result in abnormal speech characterized by hypernasality, nasal emission and decreased intelligibility of speech due to weak consonant production. The speech aid is often helpful in improving the speech of individuals with velopharyngeal incompetency. In this article, the pathogenesis and treatment of velopharyngeal incompetence are discussed and a speech aid appliance that was constructed for the patient is described.

  • A curved track needs balanced super elevation according to the speed of the passing train and it is limited by maximum allowable amount. Therefore, passing speed at high degree curved track has to be controlled below the limits. Accurate position of the Speed Limit Post(SLP), which shows allowable speed of curved track dose not regulated so design and line side maintenance engineer adopt the position differently, When the rate of cant deficiency is considered on transition-curved section, the SLP should be located at the beginning point of the transition curve so as to control the speed of passing train and it will increase ride quality to passenger.

공동주택 심의기준의 형태규제 특성에 관한 연구 - 광역자치단체의 심의기준을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Characteristics of Design Council Criteria of Housing - Focused on Metropolitan Cities -)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the characteristics of design council criteria of metropolitan cities in Koreas. For comparative analysis, four main concepts are used ; 1) self-administering vs discretionary 2) prescriptive vs performance 3) conformity vs contrast 4) point system of criteria. The results of this study were as follows; 1) there were three types of cirteria; strong discretionary (DG), discretionary oriented (BS, US) and combination type (SL, DJ, ICN, GJ) 2) structural properties of forms are controlled by prescriptive criteria, and layout or design elements by performance criteria 3) visual openness and diversity are main items of most metropolitan cities 4) street-faced design was neglected but tended to focus on the self-contained layout 5) visual density indexes were diversified from elevation blockage degree. For further advanced research, it is necessary to investigate the actual effects and differences of regulative types - prescriptive vs performance, and of each design criteria, especially prescriptive ones in improving the design quality.

  • Recently we have developed an active stereo head-eye system with vergence, name it KIST HECter(Head-Eye System with Colored Stero Vision), based on the analysis of human's neck and eye motion at visual behavior. Our HECter is a five degree-of-freedom system composed of pan and tilt motion in neck part and independent vergence motion of binocular cameras and commonly shared elevation axis in eye part. And stereo vision Provides two color image, which are processed by powerful each TMS32080 vision board. The shape and size are designed to be almost same as human face. The ability to vergence has significant importance and gives many beneficial merits. On its mechanical implementation we adapt a non-parallelogram 4-bar linkage mechanism since it provides high accuracy in transfering motion and enables compact and flexible design.
