Enhancement of speech with time-variant and colored noise

  • We consider a method for enhancement of speech signal degraded by additive random noise with time-variant and/or colored natures. For enhancement of speech signal with such noise, it is effective to utilize the natures of speech and noise. The objective of enhancement of speech is to improve the overall quality and the articulation of speech degraded by the time-variant and/or colored random noise. In the proposed method the distribution model of speech spectrum is given as information to noise reduction system. The proposed system can improve about lOdB in SNR when the input SNR is 0 dB.

시차 굴절률 측정에 의한 실시간 글루코오스 모니터링 (Real-time Monitoring of Glucose Using a Differential Refractive Index Detector)

  • A differential refractive index detector was used for monitoring glucose contents in textile processing solutions. The sensitivity of the device was high enough to measure 0.05% aqueous glucose solution that could not be measured by normal refractive index measurement. The device was set to monitor glucose concentration continuously in real time by measuring differential refractive index and calibrated by standard glucose solutions in a range of 0.1 to 1.0%. The possibility of industrial application of the device was demonstrated by real-time monitoring of glucose concentration in textile processing solutions such as desizing bath and cellulase treatment bath. Both of solutions contained glucose as a major degraded product. The device would be able to control the weight loss of cellulosic fiber during cellulase treatment since the amount of degraded products in a processing bath is proportional to its weight loss.

  • The multiaxial fatigue test under in-phase and out-of$.$phase load were performed to study what degradation phenomenon affects fatigue life with virgin and 3600 hrs degraded materials. The various kind of fatigue data fur fatigue life prediction were acquired under pure axial and pure torsional load of fully reversal condition. The models which was investigated are: 1) the von Mises equivalent strain range, 2) the critical shear plane approach method of Fatemi-Socie(FS) parameter, 3) the modified Smith-Watson-Topper(SWT) parameter. The result showed that, fatigue life by material degradation are decreased and life prediction which was used the FS parameter is not conservative but the best result.

  • The design and implementation of a fuzzy self-organizing controller for an environmental temperature chamber is discussed. The chamber is a non-linear, time-variant system with delay-time and dead-time. And the parameter tuning is required in PI control when the performance degraded. However the proposed fuzzy-SOC monitors the performance of the process. modifies the data base, and performs the delay-time compensation based on the idealized process model. A series of experiments was performed for the conventional PI and the fuzzy-SOC. These experimental results show the usefulness of the fuzzy-SOC.

  • In industrial actual control system, PID controller has been used with its high delicate control system in position control system. PID controller has simple structure and superior ability in several characteristics. When the response of system is changed by delay time, variable load , disturbances and external environment, control gain of PID controller must be readjusted on the system dynamic characteristics. Therefore, a control ability of PID controller is degraded when the control gain is inappropriately determined. When the response characteristic of system is changed under a condition, control gain of PID controller must be changed adaptively to be a waited response of system. In this paper an PIDA controller is constructed by Two-Layers Neural Network applying back-propagation(BP) algorithm. Form the result of compute. simulation in the proposed controller, its usefulness is verified.

  • In this study, a robust controller to control pressure in a pneumatic pressure vessel considering dynamic characteristics of pneumatic transmission line is proposed. Dynamic characteristics of transmission line using compressible fluid is changed by the flowing states of the fluid. So, if the fixed gain controller is designed based on a fixed model, the performance of the control system could be destabilized or degraded. The controller designed in this study is composed of two parts. The one is to reject modelling error based on the disturbance observer, the other is to obtain the control performance. The control results with the designed controller show that the robustness of the control system is achieved regardless of the change of the model of the transmission line. Therefore, the designed controller can be utilized for the performance improvement of the pressure control system using compressible fluid such as air and gas

  • If the control force designed on the basis of the mathematical model with parameter errors is applied to control the actual system, the closed-loop performance of the actual system will be degraded depending on the degree of the errors, In this study, the effect of parameter errors on the robustness of several natural controls has been analyzed and compared. Every asymptoic stability condition for the natural controls has been derived using Lyapunov approach, and the characteristics of the stability conditions has also been compared. The extent of deviation of the closed-loop performance from the designed one for the natural controls is derived using operator techniques, and evaluated by numerical method. It has been found that the optimal control, acceleration feedback control, and acceleration-position feedback control among the considered natural controls would be robust one with respect to the parameter errors.

  • In this paper, we design a vibration control system that includes a 3-D.O.F. mass-spring-damper structure for the analytical model of a building that is excited at the base of this structure by an external dynamic force, and one Active Mass Damper(AMD) on the top of this structure to generate control forces fro attenuation of the structural response. Two robust controllers based on $\mu$-synthesis and H$\infty$ optimal control are designed for the structural system to show that the performance of a control system can be degraded by some parameter uncertainties such as mass, stiffness coefficients, and/or damping coefficients. The performance of the two controllers are compared in terms of nominal performance, robust stability and robust performance by simulations.

  • In this paper, the performance improvement of the sensorless control of IPMSM employing the active flux concept by the improved current estimator is presented. The accuracy of the current estimator used in a previous report is degraded when the motor parameters are not known exactly. A simple current estimator derived from estimated flux is proposed to improve the position estimation performance. In order to show the usefulness of the proposed estimation method, the simulation results using Matlab/Simulink and the experiment results are presented.
