  • The purpose of this study is the development or the extensive Rapid Prototyping Technique. which can resolve the long-term manufacturing process, shrinkage and deformation occurring rapid prototyping technique. To begin with. the various specimens for tensile were manufactured on the basis of this modeling technology. Then, many kinds of the laminate pieces for the test were made by using the sheet metals lmm and 1.5mm thickness which is composed of the same ingredient. The tensile specimen were manufactured by changing the process variables, Such as electric current, pressure and resistance welding time for the Rapid Prototyping with metal sheet. And then by using the Taguchi method. The interrelation between the specimen and mechanical properties were determined and the system for the optimum process variable organized.

  • The vibration characteristics of a rotating cantilever beam undergoing impulsive force are investigated using wavelet transformation. The transient response induced by the impulsive force and the rigid body motion of the beam are calculated using hybrid deformation variable modeling along with the Rayleigh-Ritz assumed mode methods. The vibration characteristics of the beam can be analyzed in time-frequency domain with the wavelet transform method. Therefore, the effects of the impulsive force on the transient vibration characteristics of the beam can be investigated more effectively.

  • The strength, deformation and buckling of a large engineering structure consisting of four ellipsoidal shells, two cylindrical shells with stiffening ribs and large holes, one conical shell and three pairs of large flanges under external pressure, self weight and heat sinks have been analysed by using two kinds of five different finite elements - four assumed displacement finite elements (shell element with curved surfaces, axisymmetric conical shell element with variable thickness, three dimensional eccentric beam element, axisymmetric solid revolutionary element) and an assumed stress hybrid element (a 3-dimensional special element developed by authors). The compatibility between different elements is enforced. The strength analyses of the top cover and the main vessel are described in the paper.

  • This paper presents the dynamic analysis of an impulsively forced rotating cantilever beam with rigid body motion. The transient response induced by the impulsive force and the rigid body motion of the beam are calculated using hybrid deformation variable modeling with the Rayleigh-Ritz assumed mode methods. The stiffness variation effect due to the rigid body motion of the beam is considered in this study Also, the effects of the impulsive force position and the angular velocity on the transient responses of the beam are investigated through numerical works.

  • This research presents a multi-objective optimal design employing topological approach to maximize magnetic energy while minimizing structural deformation which is caused by magnetic reluctance force and magnetostriction. A design sensitivity formula is derived by employing the adjoint variable method (AVM) to avoid numerous sensitivity evaluations for a coupled magneto-mechanical analysis. The sensitivity analysis is verified using the finite difference method (FDM) in a C-shape actuator. A linear actuator used in a home appliance is examined for optimal design and demonstrates the strength of the proposed topology optimization approach.

  • This paper uses the four-variable refined plate theory for the free vibration analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) rectangular plates. The plate properties are assumed to be varied through the thickness following a simple power law distribution in terms of volume fraction of material constituents. The theory presented is variationally consistent, does not require shear correction factor, and gives rise to transverse shear stress variation such that the transverse shear stresses vary parabolically across the thickness satisfying shear stress free surface conditions. Equations of motion are derived from the Hamilton's principle. The closed-form solutions of functionally graded plates are obtained using Navier solution. Numerical results of the refined plate theory are presented to show the effect of the material distribution, the aspect and side-to-thickness ratio on the fundamental frequencies. It can be concluded that the proposed theory is accurate and simple in solving the free vibration behavior of functionally graded plates.

  • For dynamic analysis of flexible structures, classical linear modeling has been widely used due to its several good aspects. However, it was found that the modeling often lost its accuracy. So, it is important to know the valid range of the modeling before it is used. more complicated modelings are needed to obtain reliable results only outside the valid range of the classical linear modeling. In this study, some rigid body motions of flexible structures which lead to the failure of the classical linear modeling are investigated. Hybrid deformation variable modeling, which is proved to be accurate in previous studies, is used to figure out the valid range of the classical linear modeling through numerical examples.

  • A dynamic modeling of a rotating pretwist blade which interacts with the fluid is proposed in this study. The hybrid deformation variable modeling method is employed to derive the equations of motion. The external force and moment induced by the fluid (with fixed configurations of the blade) are obtained by fluid flow analysis and tabulated in a database. This database is efficiently utilized to save the computational effort to calculate the dynamic response of the blade. The numerical results show that the fluid affects the transient response as well as frequency characteristics of the system.

  • This work investigates a novel plate formulation and a modified couple stress theory that introduces a variable length scale parameter is presented to discuss the static and dynamic of functionally graded (FG) micro-plates. A new type of third-order shear deformation theory of Reddy that use only 4 unknowns by including undetermined integral variables is proposed in this study. The equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle. Analytical solutions are obtained for a simply supported micro-plate. Numerical examples are presented to examine the effect of the length scale parameter on the responses of micro-plates. The obtained results are compared with the previously published results to demonstrate the correctness of the present formulation.

  • New carbon equivalent equation for the better prediction for the better prediction of roll force in a continuous hot strip mill has been formulated by applying a neural network method. In predicting roll force of steel strip, carbon equivalent equation which normalize the effects of various alloying elements by a carbon equivalent content is very critical for the accurate prediction of roll force. To overcome the complex relationships between alloying elements and operational variables such as temperature, strain, strain rate and so forth, a neural network method which is effective for multi-variable analysis was adopted in the present work as a tool to determine a proper carbon equivalent equation. The application of newly formulated carbon equivalent equation has increased prediction accuracy of roll force significantly and the effectiveness of neural network method is well confirmed in this study.
