응력경도에 따른 단일항복면구성모델의 응력-변형률 거동 특성 (Stress- Strain Behavior Characteristics of Single Work Hardening Model Dependant on the Stress Path)

  • Solutions of geotechnical engineering problems require predictions of deformation and stresses during various stages of loading. Powerful numerical methods are available to make such predictions even for complicated problems. To get accurate results, realistic stress-strain relationships of soils are dependent on a number of factors such as soil type, density, stress level and stress path. Attempts are continuously being made to develope analytical models for soils incorporating all such factors. Isotropic compression-expansion test and a series of drained conventional triaxial tests with several stress path for Baekma river sand were performed to investigate stress-strain and volume change characteristics of Lade's single work hardening model dependant on the stress path. In order to predicted of stress-strain and volumetric strain behavior were determined the values of parameters for the mode by the computer program based on the regression analysis. Predicted stress-strain behavior of triaxial compression tests and optional stress path tests for increasing confining pressure with parameters obtained conventional triaxial compression tests agreed with several test results but the prediction results for decreasing confining pressure reduced triaxial compression tests make a little difference with test results.

성형 효과를 고려한 차체 구조 부재의 충돌 특성 (Crashworthiness of an Auto-body Member with the Forming Effect)

  • This paper is concerned with crash analysis for an auto-body member with the forming effect. Auto-body members such as a front frame assembly are fabricated with sheet metal forming processes that induce forming histories such as the plastic work hardening and non-uniform thickness distribution. Numerical simulation is carried out with LS-DYNA3D in order to identify the forming effect on the crashworthiness. The crash analysis of the front frame assembly with the forming effect leads to a different result from that without the forming effect. Crashworthiness such as the load-carrying capacity, the crash mode and the energy absorption are calculated to investigate and identify the forming effect. It is fully demonstrated that the design of auto-body members needs to consider the forming effect for accurate assessment of the load-carrying capacity and the deformation mechanism of the formed members.

  • A new concept of ammunition without the use of explosive gunpowder has been recently studied, which achieves performance equal to or higher than that of high explosives. Frangible Armor Piercing (FAP) is one of the concepts, which utilizes a tungsten alloy penetrator specialized for fragmentation. To investigate the fracture behavior of the tungsten alloy penetrator, Taylor impact tests were conducted at various impact velocities. Additionally, finite element analysis was performed to predict the fracture behavior of the tungsten alloy. Compression tests were also carried out at six strain rates for dynamic material properties and the dynamic hardening behavior was successfully predicted with the Lim-Huh model. Finally, the Mohr-Coulomb fracture model based on the mean stress was adopted to predict impact failure in Taylor impact simulation. The analysis predicts the deformation and fracture behaviors of the tungsten alloy successfully.

열역학 기반 내부 변수를 이용한 균질화 탄소성 구성방정식 및 입자강화 복합재에서의 소성변형집중 (Homogenized Elastic-plastic Relation based on Thermodynamics and Strain Localization Analyses for Particulate Composite)

  • In the present work, the evolution rules for the internal variables including continuum damage factors are obtained using the thermodynamic framework, which are in turn facilitated to derive the elastic-plastic constitutive relation for the particulate composites. Using the Mori-Tanaka scheme, the homogenization on state and internal variables such as back-stress and damage factors is carried out to procure the rate independent plasticity relations. Moreover, the degradation of mechanical properties of constituents is depicted by the distinctive damages such that the phase and interfacial damages are treated individually accordingly, whereas the kinematic hardening is depicted by combining the Armstrong-Frederick and Phillips' back-stress evolutions. On the other hand, the present constitutive relation for each phase is expressed in terms of the respective damage-free effective quantities, then, followed by transformation into the damage affected overall nominal relations using the aforementioned homogenization concentration factors. An emphasis is placed on the qualitative analyses for strain localization by observing the perturbation growth instead of the conventional bifurcation analyses. It turns out that the proposed constitutive model offers a wide range of strain localization behavior depending on the evolution of various internal variable descriptions.

Load capacity simulation of an agricultural gear reducer by surface heat treatment

  • Gear reducers are widely used for various agricultural machinery applications such as greenhouses, tractors, and agricultural vehicles. However, thermal deformation and surface pitting at gear tooth flank frequently occur in gear reducers due to high torque. Thus, surface heat treatment of gears is required to improve wear and fatigue resistance. The objective of this study was to simulate the load capacity of the agricultural gear reducer. The simulation was performed for the following three surface heat treatment methods: untreated gears, nitriding heat treatment, and induction hardening method, those mostly used for agricultural gear reducers. The load capacity of the gear reducer was simulated using the safety factor, limit bending stress, and limit contact stress of the gear. The simulation of the load capacity was conducted using KISSsoft commercial software for gear analysis. The main results of simulation test were as follows: first, the nitriding heat treatment resulted in the highest safety factor for bending stress, which was increased about 77% from those of the untreated gears. Second, the induction hardening was the highest safety factor for contact stress, which was increased about 150% from those of the untreated gears. The safety factor for contact stress of the induction hardening was increased about 64% from those of the nitriding heat treatment. The study result suggested that the surface heat treatments could enhance load capacity and that the method of surface heat treatment should be determined based on simulation results for appropriate use scenarios.

An improved Maxwell creep model for salt rock

  • The creep property of salt rock significantly influences the long-term stability of the salt rock underground storage. Triaxial creep tests were performed to investigate the creep behavior of salt rock. The test results indicate that the creep of salt rock has a nonlinear characteristic, which is related to stress level and creep time. The higher the stress level, the longer the creep time, the more obvious the nonlinear characteristic will be. The elastic modulus of salt rock decreases with the prolonged creep time, which shows that the creep damage is produced for the gradual expansion of internal cracks, defects, etc., causing degradation of mechanical properties; meanwhile, the creep rate of salt rock also decreases with the prolonged creep time in the primary creep stage, which indicates that the mechanical properties of salt rock are hardened and strengthened. That is to say, damage and hardening exist simultaneously during the creep of salt rock. Both the damage effect and the hardening effect are considered, an improved Maxwell creep model is proposed by connecting an elastic body softened over time with a viscosity body hardened over time in series, and the creep equation of which is deduced. Creep test data of salt rock are used to evaluate the reasonability and applicability of the improved Maxwell model. The fitting curves are in excellent agreement with the creep test data, and compared with the classical Burgers model, the improved Maxwell model is able to precisely predict the long-term creep deformation of salt rock, illustrating our model can perfectly describe the creep property of salt rock.

순 티탄늄 판재의 프레스 성형성 평가(제 1보) (Evaluation of press formability of pure titanium sheet)

  • 본 논문에서는 판형 열교환기 등에 널리 이용되고 있는 순 티타늄 판재의 프레스 성형성을 평가하기 위해 인장실험을 수행하였고 인장실험결과를 가장 잘 피팅할 수 있는 가공경화 모델을 제안하였다. 또한 항복곡면의 도출을 위해 단축변형, 평면변형, 순수전단변형 등 다양한 변형모드 하에서의 인장실험을 실시하였다. 이 제안된 모델을 Hora의 수정된 최대하중조건식에 적용하여 프레스 성형성을 평가하기 위해서 널리 사용되고 있는 성형한계선을 예측하였고 그 결과를 장출성형실험에서 구한 성형한계선과 비교하였다. 도출한 항복곡면을 잘 묘사하기 위한 이방성 항복조건식과 본 연구에서 제안된 가공경화 모델은 순 티타늄 판재의 프레스 성형성의 척도인 성형한계선을 잘 예측함을 알 수 있었다.

고출력 다이오드 레이저를 이용한 고탄소강의 경화특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Hardening Characteristics of High Carbon Steel by using High Power Diode Laser)

  • 고탄소강은 사용자가 요구하는 특성을 만족시키기 위해 침탄, 질화, 고주파담금질 등에 의해 표면처리 되어져 왔다. 그러나 기존의 처리 방법은 모두 처리물 전체를 가열하거나 균일한 가열을 하지 못하여 표면처리 후 변형의 문제와 처리후의 후가공의 경비문제, 그리고 극히 일부분만 경화가 필요한 부품에는 적용하기 어려운 문제점이 있었다. 이러한 문제를 해결할 수 있는 표면처리법으로로써 레이저열처리 방법이 대두대고 있으며, 레이저열처리는 레이저 빔을 피처리물의 표면에 조사하고 적당한 속도로 이동을 하게 되면 레이저조사부위가 급속하게 가열되고 레이저 빔이 통과한 후에는 표면의 열이 내부로 열전도 되어 급속히 자기냉각(self-quenching)됨으로써 표면에 새로운 기계적 성질을 갖게 하는 열처리법이다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 CW Nd:YAG 레이저 열원보다 효율이 좋은 HPDL을 이용한 고효율, 고기능의 고탄소강 열처리 후 재료적 물성을 평가하였다. 그 결과 레이저빔의 조사속도 및 온도변화에 따른 열처리부 및 모재 부분에 대한 경도특성 및 미세조직의 특성을 명확히 할 수 있었다.

마그네슘 합금의 온간 동적재결정 구성방정식 최적화 (Material model optimization for dynamic recrystallization of Mg alloy under elevated forming temperature)

  • 상용 마그네슘 합금의 경우, 상온에서 낮은 성형성을 갖기 때문에, 온간 성형 조건 하에서 성형 공정을 수행하는 것이 일반적이다. 마그네슘 합금은 온간 성형 과정 중에 동적 재결정(dynamic recrystallization, DRX)이 발생하여, 초기 결정립 사이즈가 급격하게 작아지며, 내부 전위 밀도가 낮아지게 된다. 이에 따라, 유동 응력 곡선은 세 단계의 복잡한 변형 경화 및 연화 현상을 보이게 된다. 첫 번째 구간에서는 변형률이 증가함에 따라, 가공 경화에 의해 응력이 증가하는 경향을 보이며, 두 번째 구간에서는 동적 재결정 현상에 의한 가공 연화로 응력이 갑작스럽게 감소한다. 세 번째 구간에서는 가공 경화와 가공 연화 사이의 평형에 의해, 응력이 일정하게 나타난다. 본 연구에서는, 성형 온도 $300^{\circ}C$, 변형률 속도는 0.001, 0.1, 1, 10/sec에서 AZ80 합금의 구성 방정식의 18개 변수들을 체계적으로 최적화하며, 유동 곡선의 정확도를 높일 수 있는 방식에 대해 제안하려고 한다. 또한 AZ80외에 AZ61도 추가적으로 최적화여 본 논문에서 제안한 최적화 방식의 성능을 증명하였다.

재료 특성에 기반한 철근콘크리트 휨부재의 소성회전능력 산정 (Evaluation of Plastic Rotational Capacity Based on Material Characteristics in Reinforced Concrete Flexural Members)

  • 철근콘크리트 구조물은 위험 단면이 휨강도에 도달하더라도 이 단면에서 소성힌지가 형성되어 휨모멘트가 재분배되어 곧바로 파괴에 도달하지 않는다. 이러한 소성힌지 영역에서 발생하는 비탄성 변형에 의해 소성 회전이 발생한다. 소성힌지길이는 주로 재료 특성에 영향을 받는다. 이 연구에서는 유로코드2에서 제시하고 있는 재료 모델로부터 산정된 휨곡률 분포로부터 소성힌지길이와 소성회전각을 일관되게 산정하였다. 재료 모델의 한계값 즉, 콘크리트 극한변형률, 철근 극한변형률 및 철근의 경화비(k)가 소성회전능력에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 해석 결과 콘크리트 극한변형률 및 철근 극한변형률이 증가함에 따라 소성회전능력이 증가하였고 특히, 철근의 경화비(k)가 증가함에 따라 소성 회전각은 크게 증가되는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 각 재료 모델의 한계값 결정에 세심한 주의가 필요할 것으로 나타났다.
