Top-to-bottom compression strength of corrugated fiberboard boxes is partly dependent on the load-carrying ability of the central panel areas. The ability of these central areas to resist bending under load will increase the stacking strength of the box. The difference of box compression strengths, among boxes which are made with identical dimensions and fabricated with same components but different flute sizes, is primarily due to difference of the flexural stiffness of the box panels. Top-to-bottom compression strength of a box is accurately predicted by flexural stiffness measurements and the edge crush test of the combined boards. This study was carried out to analyze the flexural stiffness, maximum bending force and maximum deflection for various corrugated fiberboards by experimental investigation. There were significant differences between the machine direction (MD) and the cross-machine direction (CD) of corrugated fiberboards tested. It was about 50% in SW and DW, and $62%{\sim}74%$ in dual-medium corrugated fiberboards(e.g. DM, DMA and DMB), respectively. There were no significant differences of maximum deflection in machine direction among the tested fiberboards but, in cross direction, DM showed the highest value and followed by SW, DMA, DMB and DW in order. For the corrugated fiberboards tested, flexural stiffness in machine direction is about $29%{\sim}48%$ larger than cross direction, and difference of flexural stiffness between the two direction is the lowest in DMA and DMB.

This paper deals with the static analysis of axially functionally graded rectangular plates. It is assumed that the flexural rigidity of the plate varies exponentially along one of the plate's in-plane dimensions. Both an analytical approach and a numerical method are utilized to solve the problem. The analytical solution is obtained by using the Green's function method. To employ this approach, the adjoint boundary value problem is established. Then, exact solutions for deflection of the plate for different boundary conditions are found. In another way, a finite element formulation for the problem is developed. In order to demonstrate the validity of the Authors' formulation, the results obtained via both mentioned schemes are compared with each other for functionally graded plates and with results of previously published works for homogeneous plates. The effect of plate parameters on the response of the plate is also investigated. To remind the research background, a brief review on the application of Green's function method in plates' analysis and functionally graded plates is also presented.
This research investigate the behavior of reinforced normal and lightweight aggregate concrete hollow core slabs with different core shapes, shear span to effective depth (a/d). The experimental work includes testing seven reinforced concrete slabs under two vertical line loads. The dimensions of slab specimens were (1.1 m) length, (0.6 m) width and (0.12 m) thickness. The maximum reduction in weight due to aggregate type was (19.28%) and due to cross section (square and circular) cores was (17.37 and 13.64%) respectively. The test results showed that the decrease of shear span to effective depth ratio from 2.9 to 1.9 for lightweight aggregate solid slab cause an increase in ultimate load by (29.06%) and increase in the deflection value at ultimate load or the ultimate deflection by (17.79%). The use of lightweight aggregate concrete in casting solid slabs give a reduction in weight by (19.28%) and in the first cracking and ultimate loads by (16.37%) and (5%) respectively for constant (a/d=2.9).The use of lightweight aggregate concrete in casting hollow circular core slabs with constant (a/d=2.9) (reduction in weight 32.92%) decrease the cracking and ultimate loads by (12%) and (5.18%) respectively with respect to the solid slab. These slab specimens were analyzed numerically by using the finite element computer program ANSYS. Good agreements in terms of behavior, cracking load (load at first visible crack) and ultimate load (maximum value of testing load) was obtained between finite element analysis and experimental test results.

The solution of two-dimensional deflection of circular wavy reinforcing fiber elastics was obtained for one end clamped boundary under concentrated load condition. The fiber was regarded as a linear elastic material. Wavy shape was described as a combination of half-circular arc smoothly connected each other with constant curvature of all the same magnitude and alternative sign. Also load direction was taken into account. As a result, the solution was expressed in terms of a series of elliptic integrals. These elliptic integrals had two different transformed parameters involved with load value and initial radius of curvature. While we found the exact solutions and expressed them in terms of elliptic integrals, the recursive ignition formulae about the displacement and arc length at each segment of circular section were obtained. Algorithm of determining unknown parameters was established and the profile curve of deflected beam was shown in comparison with initial shape.

In this study, the dynamic behaviour of a rotating Timoshenko beam when under the actions of a variable magnitude load moving at non-uniform speed is carried out. The effect of cross-sectional dimension and damping on the flexural motions of the elastic beam was neglected. The coupled second order partial differential equations incorporating the effects of rotary and gyroscopic moment describing the motions of the beam was scrutinized in order to obtain the expression for the dynamic deflection and rotation of the vibrating system using an elegant technique called Galerkin's Method. Analyses of the solutions obtained were carried out and various results were displayed in plotted curve. It was found that the response amplitude of the simply supported beam increases with an increase in the value of the foundation reaction modulus. Effects of other vital structural parameters were also established.
Not only is it important that the physical properties of the paperboards be appropriate for the intended end use, but the proper arrangement of the component in the built-up board is essential for attaining the optimum moment of inertia and the maximum load-carrying ability in a box. It is known to be impossible to estimate the stress distribution and deflection pattern by experiments or theoretical analysis when the corrugated fiberboard get the bending force. This study was tried theoretical and finite element analysis to analyze structural strength characteristics of corrugated fiberboards. If the linerboard and corrugating medium of every corrugated fiberboards is made from the same material, the location of neutral axis comes close to inside liner in order of DMA, DM, DMB, SW and DW, and moment of inertia of area decreases in order of DMA, DMB, DW, DM and SW. With the finite element analysis, deflection of applied loads represented SW, DM, DMA, and TW in the order of their value.
This analytical study was carried out to make quality and productivity up in designing the frame-type furniture with semi-rigid joint by understanding the mechanical and structural behavior of the joint and by evaluating the validity of application of the time-saving Finite Element Method to its structural analysis. Slope deflection equation for rigid joint was modified to describe the moment-rotation behavior of semi-rigid joint and the joint stiffness factor(Z) could be calculated to lessen the experimental expense. It was proved that Finite Element Analysis with imaginary elements having equivalent MOE to the semi-rigid joint could be the alternative method for the structural analysis of the frame-type furniture, comparing the internal rotation of the 2-dimensional beam-to-column model with two-pin(wooden dowel) from the finite element method with other available theoretical and experimental rotation value.

This paper presents the results of an experimental research project on 7 Super Deck Plates with continuous or simple beam types. The test parameters included the distance of truss, depth of deck plate and the type of beam. The test results are as follows ; When thickness of deck plate was increased, maximum strength was improved When the distance of truss bar was reduced from 20cm to 15cm, the mean value of maximum load was increased to 1.21 times. Continuous beam shown superior to simple beam, such as 5.03 times high strength, low deflection at yield point.
In this paper, an systematic approach is presented, in which the bridge-type traffic sign structure is body out by CSDDA PrePost Processor. There is dead load and wind load that is working on the structure which will make force and moment. Analyzied the stress distribution of the standard form and by changing the shape, compared the safety in terms of deflection and stress (with the standard form) to know the effect of each component in the bridge-type traffic sign structure. The safety of deflection and stress is evaluated by maximum distance/100) and ASIC code respectively. The standard form of bridge-type traffic sign structure is established by two pairs of pillar and two pairs of floor beam. Replaced the links which is consist of flange and screws as the torsion spring and nm our analysis program. By adjusting variable of rigidity modulus of torsion spring, moment between column and beam is controled depending on value of rigidity modulus.
In this paper, a composite material analysis program based on the finite element method(FEM) is used. The purpose of this study was to verify whether the composite material analysis program which developed as part of a project of development of softwares and educational contents for structural vibration and composite material analysis that can calculate how similar the macroscopic mechanical behavior of the composite materials actually. Because composite materials are generally anisotropic, analysis of composite laminate is used for the constitutive equations of orthotropic material. For convenience, the unit is ommited in all calculations. To verify the accuracy of the finite element method based program, the deflection and stress distribution of the simply supported composite material laminated plate subjected to a uniform load distribution is compared with exact solution. Size and properties of the composite material laminate used for analysis are fixed variables, and by changing the number of elements and the total thickness of the laminate is compared with the exact solution to the resulting value, respectively.
