All measurements are subject to uncertainty and a measurement result is complete only when it is accompanied by a statement of the associated uncertainty. By international agreement, this uncertainty has a probabilistic basis and reflects incomplete knowledge of the quantity value. The "Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement", commonly known as the GUM, is the definitive document on this subject. The requirements for estimation of measurement uncertainty apply to all results provided by calibration laboratories and results produced by testing laboratories under the optional circumstances. In this paper, a procedure for estimation of measurement uncertainty from vibration testing is proposed on KS F 2868:2003 as an example. Both Type A and Type B evaluation of uncertainty are considered to calculate the combined standard uncertainty and expanded uncertainty.
Barbiturates are commonly abused tranquilizer and a rapid method to determine these drugs in biological samples is needed. In this study, was screened barbiturates in urine specimens by the fluorescence polarization immunoassay method(FPIA) and the positive samples were confirmed and identified by the more definitive GC/MS method. Fifteen positive smples which have barbiturate values higher than 0.5 ng/ml were analyzed by the GC/MS method. Eight samples were identified as phenobarbital and five samples were identified as crotilbarbitone.
It is important in dentistry that the provisional cement should be cleaned thoroughly from the crown before definitive cementation. The provisional cement has been removed by physical means such as curette, scaler, pumice, or sand-blasting with alumina particles, which is time-consuming, irritating, tedious, even causing crack. To avoid such troubles occurring through such physical cleaning means, the chemical solutions for dissolving the provisional cement remaining in dental crown were prepared, and solubilizing power of the solutions was measured and compared. The solution composed of MEA, NaOH, chloride chemicals ($CHCl_3$, $CCl_4$, $CH_2Cl_2$), surfactants (Igepal, Tween20), chelating agent (EDTA), and Ethyl cellosolve was most effective for dissolving the provisional cement.
Of all the annotations of Rites of Zhou for 2,000 years, there is no single line of history of ore contents related to city building in its current perspective. This is because the definitive evidence of the interpretation of related phrases is regarded as top-level guidelines called "辨方正位(Byeonbang-Jeongwi)", and their specific contents have been discussed in '匠人建國(Jangin-Geonguk)'. The phrases of '匠人營國(Jangin-Yeongguk)', considered to be the key buzzword related to city building, must be reconsidered for these reasons. As such, this paper strives to analyze the system of logic formed by consistent interpretation that flowed for 2,000 years from Han to Qing dynasties, and to discover the principles of city building used in Confucian classics.
Background and Objectives: Intractable aspiration in patients with impaired protective function of the larynx often results in multiple episode of aspiration pneumonia, repeated hospitalizations and expensive nursing care. The purpose of this study was to review the authors’experience and Patient outcome with the laryngotracheal separation (LTS) procedure. Materials and Methods A retrospective review of 9 patients who underwent LTS between 1996 and 2001 was conducted. Ages ranged from 3 to 72 years. Results : Seven patients were expected to have morbid aspiration as a consequence of acquired neurologic injuries and two were congenital neurologic injuries. Two patients had a postoperative fistula, which was well controlled with local wound care and minor procedure. Following LTS, aspiration was effectively controlled in all patients and four were able to tolerate a regular diet. Conclusion : LTS is a low-risk, successful. definitive procedure which decreases the potential for aspiration, pulmonary complication, hospitalizations and increases quality of life, especially in patent with irreversible upper airway dysfunction and Poor speech potential.
Amyloid tumor is a tumorlike localized deposit of amyloid which is encountered occasionally in association with multiple myeloma and various chronic inflammatory diseases. This report describes a case of solitary amyloid tumor of the neck which was the presenting symptom arising in association with multiple myeloma. A 56-year-old woman complained of a palpable neck mass and fine needle aspiration was done. Multiple myeloma was diagnosed on the basis of the bone marrow biopsy and monoclonality of kappa light chain. The histologic and cytologic features of the amyloid appear to be characteristic and may allow a definitive diagnosis to be made on needle aspiration biopsy.
Neospora caninum is a coccidian parasite of animals. It is a major pathogen for cattle and dogs and it occasionally causes clinical infections in horses, goats, sheep, and deer. Domestic dogs are the only known definitive hosts for N. caninum. It is one of the most efficiently transmitted parasite of cattle and up to 90% of cattle in some herds are infected. Transplacental transmission is considered the major route of transmission of N. caninum in cattle. Neospora caninum is a major cause of abortion in cattle in many countries. To elicit protective immunity against abortion in cows that already harbor a latent infection is a major problem. This paper reviews information on biology, diagnosis, epidemiology and control of neosporosis in animals.
This paper presents the theoretical development and qualitiative evaluation of a new concept in the mathematical modeling of dynamicstructures. We use both test data and analytical approximations to identify the parameters of an incomplete model. The model has the capability of prodicting the response of the points of interest on the structure over the frequency range of interest and can be used to predict the changes in natural frequencies and normal modes due to structural changes. The theory was tested by running simulated tests on a relatively simple structure, identifying the parameters of the incomplete model, and using this model to predict the effects on frequency and mode shapes of several mass and stiffness changes. The conditions of the test were varied by selecting different numbers of points of meansurement, varying the frequency range, and by including assumed measurement error. It is recommended that the theroetical development be continued and that applications to more complex structures be carried out in order todevelop a better understanding of the limitations and capabilites of the method. A successful, more definitive evaluation could lead to immediate practical applications.

Common carotid artery laceration is a life-threatening injury by causing hypovolemic shock. Nevertheless the initial management is very difficult until definitive surgery at operation room. Before neck exploration at operation room, arterial bleeding control by compressing the bleeding point is not always effective. We experienced one case with externally penetrating injuries in zone II neck, which was operated after clamping of common carotid artery in the emergency department. Here we report this case.
Over its 30-year lifetime, UKIRT has been the world's leading telescope devoted exclusively to observations in the infrared. Its outstanding success over this period is attributable to a number of factors, foremost among which are the size (3.6m) and high quality of the mirror, the excellent site at the summit of Mauna Kea, and the deployment of unique, world-beating instrumentation. In recent years, as the UK has re-directed its investment in astronomical facilities towards ESO, UKIRT has focussed on wide-field imaging in the near infrared, and we are currently conducting a definitive programme known as the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey (UKIDSS). In this presentation I will describe UKIRT's current capabilities, its evolving operation, opportunities for Korean participation, and possibilities for its future development.
