  • The existing defect management is focused on step before closing work, a builder preliminary research and tenant preliminary research. Each step is not related. And the existing study on defect management mainly classify into work type and defect type according to work type. This study divide into defect part. Also this study propose PDA based web and 3DCAD for improving method of existing defect management.

  • Recently, defect management have been considered as one of the major issues for more large-sized and complicated in domestic construction industry. However, the defect management have not been performed systematically because of special manpower, excessive amount of documents, 2D based inspection work, unclear traditional checklists, complicated work process and difficulty in communicating construction information. Therefore, the construction field manager could not performed the quality inspection and defect management work on time as well as the reliability of recorded quality and defect factors was decreased. The primary objective of this study is develop a Construction Defect Management Application CDMA) using a mobile (smartphone). The application can be sharing a huge information and communication technology based on RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification), BIM (Building Information Modeling) which enables field mangers to efficiently gather the information of defection in construction on-site.

A Defect Management Process based on Open Source Software for Small Organizations (소규모 조직을 위한 오픈 소스 소프트웨어 기반의 결함 관리 프로세스)

  • For high-quality software development, it is necessary to detect and fix the defects inserted. If defect management activities are not properly performed, it will lead to the project delay and project failure due to rework. Therefore, organizations need to establish defect management process and institutionalize it. Process standard models handle defect management in the area of project monitoring and control. However, small organizations experience difficulties in implementing and applying defect management process in a real situation. In this paper, we propose a defect management process for small organization which is designed in accordance with the characteristics of a small projects such as few participants and short development period. The proposed defect management process will be based on a tool chain with open source software such as Redmine, Subversion, Maven, Jenkins that support a defect management process and SW Visualization in systematic way. We also proposed a way of constructing defect database and various methods of analyzing and controlling defect data based on it. In an effort to prove the effectiveness of the proposed process, we applied the process and tool chain to a small organization.

  • Along with the increase in Multi-unit housing defect disputes, the importance of defect management is also increased. However, previous studies have mostly focused on the Multi-unit housing's 'common part'. In addition, there is a lack of research on the system for the 'management office', which is a part of the subject of defect management. These resulted in the lack of defect management capability of the management office and the deterioration of management quality. Therefore, this paper proposes a machine learning-based defect data management system for management offices. The goal is to solve the inconvenience of management by using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) modules. This system converts handwritten defect information into online text via OCR. By using the language model, the defect information is regenerated along with the form specified by the user. Eventually, the generated text is stored in a database and statistical analysis is performed. Through this chain of system, management office is expected to improve its defect management capabilities and support decision-making.

  • Defects in apartments, which are one of the major residential types in Korea,produce unexpected inconvenience for their owners. If construction companiespaid more careful attention to the management of defect information, manydefects could be prevented. In this context, this study attempted to derive an improved defect information management system. First, research into cases of defects that were caused by weaknesses in the defect information management system were advanced to confirm the necessity of improving the defect information management system, and as the next step, a survey was conducted to identify problems with the current defect information management system, and the requirements of animproved system. In conclusion, an improved defect information management system will contribute to preventing defects in apartments in Korea.

  • In the construction industry, IT based information system has been diversely applied to increase productivity. Although IT device such as PDA, RFID, Barcode, wireless network and web camera has been introduced to gather information in construction site, the effect of the IT device is limited, because of bringing about additional works of engineer. In this paper, we proposed a defect management system which is based on handwritten document digitalization framework for introducing applicability of new IT device, digital pen. By the proposed system, we can effectively gather and input defect information to defect management system by using digital pen and paper like conventional way. Applying the data gathering device, digital pen to defect management, it is able to increase productivity by improving work process, building up and utilizing defect information database of good quality.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a defect-repair management and judgement of apartment housing for the private housing construction company. The objectives are : 1) to investigate how the defect-repair were managed and 2) to suggest the range, period of defect-repair and the proper managial size of housing company. Data were collected by the interviews from the heads of management departments of housing construction companies. Twenty-one companies selected were divided into three groups according to the amount of housing supply. Major result were as follows : 1) departments of defect-repair in housing construction company are divided into sub-system according to the size of housing supply. 2) the judgement of the range and period of defect-repair are extracted. They are, according to the order of their importance, constructional defect, functional defect, aesthetical defect and the defect in use.

  • This research provides the solution of defect problem and detection of defect and its causes that happen on software development. For developing a reliable software, a key factor is to find and manage defects that are during software development. Based on defect items analysis, we understand associated relation between defects and design defect opportunity tree. Developing the similar project, we can estimate defect and prepare to solve defect by using defect management opportunity tree.

  • Recently construction companies expand position for apartment house in construction market because of house supply rate increase and its amount. In addition, because the focus of house sale market has moved to customer from supplier, the importance of defect management is being issued currently. However, current apartment defect management is not satisfied with customer's demand for the lack of business process management, management organization, information feedback, and readiness for defect in construction phase. To solve this problem, this study proposed business process management improvement model for defect management. Proposed improvement model make information feedback, defect management business quality improvement, and improper process improvement through integrating defect management and quality management. It is expected to contribute to customer's satisfaction improvement and reliance improvement for construction companies.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest an Improvement Model of defect information management system. The improvement model adapts methods for the residents to input defect information correctly and share to defect information with construction company. The adapted research method is review for existing defect information management system and suggested for data flow diagram of improvement model. The results of this study are as follows: The basic design of the information input window of the defect information management system for connecting with big data was made. And 5 point scale was applied to evaluate the convenience, simplicity, accuracy, necessity, and usability of the improvement model. It is evaluated that the economic effect caused by using the improvement model is saved by about 151 million KRW compared to the existing method. The Improvement model is used utilize big data in correct defect management and decision making.
