  • The purpose of this paper is to present the psychological meaning of the creation myths by utilizing related myths, analysand's dreams, active imagination, and artwork to reveal the creative function of the unconscious. The creation myth is the phenomenon of projection when a new order is demanded in the chaotic phase of personal and human history. Depending on the attitude of the ego, it can be a sign of a reconstruction/alteration of consciousness or an invasion. Related literature such as Jung, von Franz, Neumann, Harding, and Edinger, domestic papers, and case reports are introduced to identify the background for this research. The psychological meaning of 'darkness' in creation myths is regarded as unconscious that is too dark to see. The Eskimo creation myth and an analysand's dreams of being blind and wandering in darkness are discussed in relation to nigredo in Alchemy. The psychological meaning of 'massa confusa' regards Uroboros, pleroma, early childhood experience, and a psychological womb in which everything is contained in one. With related myths and unconscious materials, a discussion is followed on how this realm can be a precursor of creation but also be trapped in an abyss. The psychological meaning of 'separation of world parent' is related to splitting one into two when unconscious contexts were touched before it became consciousness. Related myths, 'the world created between heaven and earth,' 'celestial being descending to the earth,' and 'the legend of relocation of a mountain,' as well as clinical material, are examined. Then this paper discusses the clinical implications of the separation of heaven and earth occurring on its own, that the creator's emotional aspects, such as loneliness and anxiety, are involved, and that delayed separation leads to the death of creatura and sudden separation leads to the death of the chaos. Then, the meaning of 'separation of world parent' is discussed in relation with separatio, the alchemical process of acquiring light/consciousness from darkness/unconsciousness. The psychological meaning of the creation of 'land/island' refers to the emergence of consciousness, the contents of the unconscious material into the realm of the ego. Related myths, such as the 'body of the monster/dragon becoming land' and analysand's dreams, are introduced, referring to the embodiment of Mercurius. This is followed by discussing related myths in creating the land to coagulatio in alchemy and utilizing creative work such as active imagination, art, music, and dance that can coagulate or concretize unconscious material in clinical approaches. Finally, myths of resurfaced land after the Flood or the complete destruction of the world in relation to the reconstruction of ego are discussed with related clinical material to show the importance of the analyst/therapist/supervisor's mental stability and capacity.

  • Forty three patients with disease of the aorta were admitted in this department during the period from beginning of 1956 to the end of 1976. They consisted of eighteen cases of aortic aneurysms, eight cases of Takayasu's arteritis, eight Leriche syndromes, six dissecting aneurysms, two aortic coarctations and one case of vascular ring. Of eighteen aortic aneurysms, twelve were operated resulting in eight survivors. Three of four mortalities were in shock preoperatively because of aneurysmal rupture. Among six dissecting aortic aneurysms, four were type III and two were type I according to DeBakey's classification. For the purpose of relief of acute arterial insufficiency in the lower extremities, a re-entry operation grafting a Y-shaped dacron vessel between abdominal aorta and common iliac arteries was performed. The patient regained consciousness soon after the operation and was well until postoperative second day, when severe convulsion developed abruptly and died. And in a chronic case of type III dissecting aneurysm, a dacron graft bypass shunt between ascending aorta and lower descending thoracic aorta with resection of the aneurysm was performed, but acute severe aortic insufficiency developed soon after the operation and fell into intractable heart failure resulting in death. The cause of the aortic insufficiency seems to be retrograde dissection from the proximal anastomosis site in the ascending aorta. Three cases were treated medically with Wheat's regimen. Two of them survived with relief of symptoms. Eight patients of Takayasu's arteritis were all females and aged between twenty and forty-four averaging twenty nine. Bypass graft operation between aortic arch and carotid arteries using Y-shaped nylon prostheses were performed in three patients resulting in death in two cases postoperatively due to severe cerebral arterial insufficiency during the procedure. All the patients with Leriche syndrome were males and over forty. In two cases, bypass graft with Y-shaped dacron vessel between terminal aorta and common iliac or femoral arteries were performed with good result. Thromboembolectomy or thromboendarterectomy was employed in three patients, of whom one was aggravated in sexual problem postoperatively. One out of two aortic coarctations and a vascular ring were treated surgically with excellent results.

  • This study examined that the black dress is the one of having aesthetic value as well as symbolism while delivering specific image, from the perspective of color, which is essential element in forming design of the Stage Costume. This study carried out the theoretical research of centering on the literature consideration and the empirical research of centering on a case side by side. It analyzed the works and design based on the clothing, which had been performed in Korea with a revival version of Musical 'Chicago'. Aesthetic characteristics in more than two are being shown in one dress. If so, the following are the results that considered on aesthetics characteristics in black, which were shown in Stage Costume of Musical 'Chicago', which is increasing the theme consciousness through Stage Costume, which is simple and sexy black. First, as emotion of coming to stay in agony and sadness on the basic fact called death, the Stage Costume in black led to being shown sorrow of implying death, fear and murder. Second, the dignity, which corresponds to noble beauty in the aesthetic category, expresses dignity and elegance with flat material in black, and is revealed the aspect of expressing fashion, which emphasized spirit rather than body. Third, as the aesthetic characteristic of causing sexual desire, the sensuality was shown, which has the aspect of being expressed through exposure, concealment and emphasis. Fourth, it was expressed with androgyny, which evokes androgynous image. Fifth, black in Musical 'Chicago' formed the whole mood with a sense of weight by arranging the whole feeling with color in similar tone, thereby having been indicated the harmony of being formed with theme, which is aimed to be indicated in drama.

  • The majority of strokes are caused by ischemia and result in brain tissue damage, leading to problems of the central nervous system including hemiparesis, dysfunction of language and consciousness, and dysfunction of perception. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase(PARP) on necrosis in neuronal cells that have undergone needle electrode electrical stimulation(NEES) prior to induction of ischemia. Ischemia was induced in male SD rats(body weight 300g) by occlusion of the common carotid artery for 5 min, after which the blood was reperfused. After induction of brain ischemia, NEES was applied to Zusanli(ST 36), at 12, 24 and 48 hours. Protein expression was investigated using immuno-reactive cells, which react to PARP antibodies in cerebral nerve cells, and Western blotting. The results were as follows: In the cerebral cortex, the number of PARP reactive cells after 24 hours significantly decreased(p<.05) in the NEES group compared to the GI group. PARP expression after 24 hours significantly decreased(p<.05) in the NEES group compared to the GI group. As a result, NEES showed the greatest effect on necrosis-related PARP immuno-reactive cells 24 hours after ischemia, indicating necrosis inhibition, blocking of neural cell death, and protection of neural cells. Based on the results of this study, NEES can be an effective method of treating dysfunction and improving function of neuronal cells in brain damage caused by ischemia.

  • Transcranial magnetic stimulation devices has been used mainly for diagnostic purposes by measuring the functions of the nervous system rather than for treatment purposes, and has a problem of considerable energy fluctuations per repeated pulse. The majority of strokes are caused by ischemia and result in brain tissue damage, leading to problems of the central nervous system including hemiparesis, dysfunction of language and consciousness, and dysfunction of perception. Control is difficult and the size is large due to the difficulty of digitalizing the energy stored in a capacitor, and there are many heavy devices. In addition, there are many constraints when it is used for a range of purposes such as head and neck diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of nerve palsy, muscle strengthening, treatment of urinary incontinence etc. Output stabilization and minimization of the energy variation rate are required as the level of the transcranial magnetic stimulation device is dramatically improved and the demand for therapeutic purposes increases. This study developed a compact, low cost transcranial magnetic stimulation device with minimal energy variation of a high repeated pulse and output stabilization using a real time capacitor charge discharge voltage. Ischemia was induced in male SD rats by closing off the common carotid artery for 5 minutes, after which the blood was re-perfused. In the cerebrum, the number of PARP reactive cells after 24 hours significantly decreased (p < 0.05) in the TMS group compared to the GI group. As a result, TMS showed the greatest effect on necrosis-related PARP immuno-reactive cells 24 hours after ischemia, indicating necrosis inhibition, blocking of neural cell death, and protection of neural cells.

  • Mankind has had various medical treatments and theories as the result of steady researches about many diseases. Medical science has something to do with religions closely. That is, he tries to solve the problem connected with his life through medicine, while he tries to overcome the fear of death through the religion. Also I have tried to establish the relations between Oriental medicine. This research shows that the relation between Taoism and medical morals(醫德). The results of this research are following. The moral consciousness in medicine is the one of great traditions in Oriental medicine which comes to the front by Sun-Si-Miao(孫思邈). That is influenced by the ethical view that a moral act influences the long and the short of life. ${\ulcorner}$Tai-Ping-Jing(太平經)${\lrcorner}$ says that man enjoys longevity if he tends his parents with filial piety and then is aware of the principle of heaven and earth. Sun-Si-Miao teaches in Da-Yi-Jing-Cheng(大醫精誠) that 'Treat the patient impartially', 'Don't weigh the merits when treating the patient', 'Avoid the use of animal medicines as you can.', 'As a man sows, so he shall reap.', Don't be jealous and don't be proud.', which are closely related to main principles about act and taboo suggested in ${\ulcorner}$Bao-Piao-Zi(抱朴子)${\lrcorner}$

  • Cardiac arrest is owing to the failure of the heart that makes the blood circulation stop. Arrested blood circulation prevents the supply of the oxygen and the glucose and it results the loss of consciousness and, finally, brain death. Many public institution installed the AED for emergency treatment, but, it is not efficient when the patient is alone. In this paper, we made multiplexed wearable device for cardiac arrest detection. With this device, we measure the individual's electrocardiography, heart sound and motion. If the cardiac arrest is detected, the device make a warning horn and transmit the signal for defibrillation. We obtain 98.33% of ECG data, 94.5% of PCG data and 98.38% of IMU data accuracy for each evaluation and 93.33% accuracy for integrated evaluation.
