플로팅 커패시터를 갖는 이중 인버터를 위한 향상된 데드 타임 보상 기법 (An Advanced Dead-Time Compensation Method for Dual Inverter with a Floating Capacitor)

  • 본 논문은 플로팅 커패시터를 갖는 이중 인버터의 향상된 데드 타임 보상 기법을 제안한다. 플로팅 커패시터를 갖는 이중 인버터는 2-레벨 단일 인버터보다 전력 반도체가 6개가 추가된다. 전력 반도체의 수가 증가로 이중 인버터의 출력 전압은 추가된 전력 반도체의 도통 전압만큼 감소되며 출력 전류 품질은 전력 반도체에 의한 전압 강하와 데드 타임에 의해 저하된다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 기법은 이중 인버터의 데드 타임 및 전력 반도체의 도통 전압을 보상하여 전류 품질을 개선하고 추가적인 대역통과 필터를 이용한 고조파 보상 기법을 통해 데드 타임과 도통 전압 보상에 대한 오차를 추가 보상한다.

Adaptive Time Delay Compensation Process in Networked Control System

  • Networked Control System (NCS) has evolved in the past decade through the advances in communication technology. The problems involved in NCS are broadly classified into two categories namely network issues due to network and control performance due to system network. The network problems are related to bandwidth allocation, scheduling and network security, and the control problems deal with stability analysis and delay compensation. Various delays with variable length occur due to sharing a common network medium. Though most delays are very less and mostly neglected, the network induced delay is significant. It occurs when sensors, actuators, and controllers exchange data packet across the communication network. Networked induced delay arises from sensor to controller and controller to actuator. This paper presents an adaptive delay compensation process for efficient control. Though Smith predictor has been commonly used as dead time compensators, it is not adaptive to match with the stochastic behavior of network characteristics. Time delay adaptive compensation gives an effective control to solve dead time, and creates a virtual environment using the plant model and computed delay which is used to compensate the effect of delay. This approach is simulated using TrueTime simulator that is a Matlab Simulink based simulator facilitates co-simulation of controller task execution in real-time kernels, network transmissions and continuous plant dynamics for NCS. The simulation result is analyzed, and it is confirmed that this control provides good performance.

  • This paper proposes a Mamdani fuzzy PID controller for controlling a process with small dead time. The controller composes of a parallel structure of fuzzy PI controller and fuzzy PD controller. Each controller has two inputs, error and change of error. Hence, the control signal of the proposed controller is the average value of the output of the fuzzy PI and PD controllers. The Mamdani fuzzy PID controller is easily to be adjusted to meet the desired control system performances both in transient state and steady state. The simulation results of the proposed Mamdani fuzzy PID controller by using the same parameters (proportional gain, integral time and derivative time) as the conventional PID controller are shown.   • The marine diesel engine have been widely applied with a mechanical hydraulic governor to control the ship speed for long time. But it was recently very difficult for the mechanical hydraulic governor to control the speed of engine under the condition of low speed and low load because of jiggling by rough fluctuation of rotating torque and hunting by dead time of diesel engine. In order to analyze the speed control system the transfer function was converted from z to w transformation. The author proposed velocity control system with feedback loop by PID controller in order to stabilize for unstable area. The influence of dead time was discussed by Nichols chart and unit step response curve. It was confirmed through computer simulation that the performance improvement of a mechanical hydraulic governor can be obtained by PID controller.

Design of I-PDA Controller Incorporating FFC for Flow Control Systems

  • In this paper, a design of I-PDA controller by CDM to control a flow process whose structure is first order lag plus a dead time is introduced. The factor of dead time of the process is approximated by second order Pade approximation in order to get a third order system. The simulations show that both of the transient and steady state specifications can be fulfilled. However, the transient response of the I-PDA control system still has long rise time. Then, a feedforward controller (FFC) with two adjustable parameters and one derivative time is introduced into I-PDA control system for improving the speed of the system response. It is shown, from the simulation results, that the performance of the I-PDA control system with suitable FFC has shorter rise time and no overshoot, while settling time remains almost the same. The performance comparison of the proposed control system with the PI control system with and without FFC is also made.

온수나방 시스템의 디지틀 가변구조제어 (Digital Variable Structure Control for a Hot Water Heating System)

  • A pilot plant, which is simplified the hot water heating control system of a large scale residential building, is used to investigate the effects of control methods and operating conditions on the system performance and to compare control characteristics. Digital variable structure controller(DVSC) and digital PI controller are implemented to control the speed of the circulating pump for the pilot plant using PC. For the DVSC, a control algorithm is suggested, which using a nonlinear sliding surface and a PID sliding surface outside and inside of output error boundary layer, respectively. Smith predictor algorithm is used for the compensation of long dead time. The suggested DVSC yields improved control performance compared with existing DVSC using linear sliding surface only. the system responses with the suggested DVSC shows good responses without overshoot for various operating conditions and robust under external disturbances compared with digital PI controller.

  • Recently digital governor system is commonly adapted for the speed control of the marine diesel engine because of too much fluctuation of rpm resulted by the low speed, long stroke, high efficiency and a small number of cylinder of it, and versatile studies on the development of digital governor system are progressed. On this subject the new control method in which the fuel is controlled by feedforwarding the change of load as well as the feedback of angular velocity in case of disregarding the engine dead time and influence of scavenging air was proposed by the authors, and found the method has shown quite a good control performance in comparision to the conventional control method by the simulation using a digital computer for various load change. In this paper the speed control system of a diesel engine is simulated in case of regarding the engine dead time by the proposed method, and also confirm a good control performance of it under even more realistically simulated environment.

  • The major difficulty in distillation column control lies in executing the set point tracking and the disturbance rejection, because of continuous changes in model order and dead time. For that, generalized predictive control(GPC) was applied to distillation column control. Recursive least square method was used to adjust the changes of model order and dead time. Quadratic progamming(QP) was used to solve the constraint problems in control action and the rate of control action. As a result of the simulation on the dynamic simulator(SPEEDUP) and the experiment on pilot plant, the ability of the set point tracking and the disturbance rejection was acceptable to apply to the real distillation column.

  • Under the assumption that process input/output data are sufficiently rich to allow reasonable plant identification, a long-range predictive control method for SISO bilinear plant is derived. In order to ensure offset-free behaviour of the control method, a new bilinear CARIMA model with variable dead-time is introduced. Furthermore, to extend the maximum output prediction horizon, the future predicted outputs in the bilinear term are assumed to be equal to the known future set-points. With a classical recursive adaptation algorithm, the proposed control scheme is capable of stable control of bilinear plants with variable parameters, with variable dead-time, and with a model order which changes instantaneously. Several simulation results demonstrate the characteristics of the proposed bilinear model predictive control method.
