This study developed a comprehensive and easily applicable nuclear reactor control system evaluation method using reactor operators behavioral and mental workload database. A proposed control panel design cycle consists of the 5 steps: (1) finding out inconvenient, erroneous, and mentally stressful factors for the proposed design through evaluative experiments, (2) drafting improved design alternatives considering detective factors found out in the step (1), (3) comparative experiements for the design alternatives, (4) selecting a best design alternative, (5) returning to the step (1) and repeating the design cycle. Reactor operators behavioral and mental workload database collected from evaluative experiments in the step (1) and comparative experiments in the step (3) of the design cycle have a key roll in finding out defective factors and yielding the criteria for selection of the proposed reactor control systems. The behavioral database was designed to include the major informations about reactor operators' control behaviors: beginning time of operations, involved displays, classification of observational behaviors, dehaviors, decisions, involved control devices, classification of control behaviors, communications, emotional status, opinions for man-machine interface, and system event log. The database for mental workload scored from various physiological variables-EEG, EOG, ECG, and respir- ation pattern-was developed to indicate the most stressful situation during reactor control operations and to give hints for defective design factors. An experimental test for the evaluation method applied to the Compact Nuclear Simulator (CNS) installed in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) suggested that some defective design factors of analog indicators should be improved and that automatization of power control to a target level would give relaxation to the subject operators in stressful situation.
Objective: Identification of the candidate genes that play key roles in phenotypic variations can provide new information about evolution and positive selection. Interleukin (IL)-32 is involved in many biological processes, however, its role for the immune response against various diseases in mammals is poorly understood. Therefore, the current investigation was performed for the better understanding of the molecular evolution and the positive selection of single nucleotide polymorphisms in IL-32 gene. Methods: By using fixation index ($F_{ST}$) based method, IL-32 (9375) gene was found to be outlier and under significant positive selection with the provisional combined allocation of mean heterozygosity and $F_{ST}$. Using nucleotide sequences of 11 mammalian species from National Center for Biotechnology Information database, the evolutionary selection of IL-32 gene was determined using Maximum likelihood model method, through four models (M1a, M2a, M7, and M8) in Codeml program of phylogenetic analysis by maximum liklihood. Results: IL-32 is detected under positive selection using the $F_{ST}$ simulations method. The phylogenetic tree revealed that goat IL-32 was in close resemblance with sheep IL-32. The coding nucleotide sequences were compared among 11 species and it was found that the goat IL-32 gene shared identity with sheep (96.54%), bison (91.97%), camel (58.39%), cat (56.59%), buffalo (56.50%), human (56.13%), dog (50.97%), horse (54.04%), and rabbit (53.41%) respectively. Conclusion: This study provides evidence for IL-32 gene as under significant positive selection in goat.

In this paper, we describe a new method for selecting information sources in a distributed environment. Recently, there has been much research on distributed information retrieval, that is information retrieval (IR) based on a multi-database model in which the existence of multiple sources is modeled explicitly. In distributed IR, a method is needed that would enable selecting appropriate sources for users\` queries. Most existing methods use statistical data such as document frequency. These methods may select inappropriate ate sources if a query contains polysemous words. In this paper, we describe an information-source selection method using two types of thesaurus. One is a thesaurus automatically constructed from documents in a source. The other is a hand-crafted general-purpose thesaurus(e.g. WordNet). Terms used in documents in a source differ from one another and the meanings of a term differ depending on th situation in which the term is used. The difference is a characteristic of the source. In our method, the meanings of a term are distinguished between by the relationship between the term and other terms, and the relationship appear in the co-occurrence-based thesaurus. In this paper, we describe an algorithm for evaluating a usefulness of a source for a query based on a thesaurus. For a practical application of our method, we have developed Papits, a multi-agent-based in formation sharing system. An experiment of selection shows that our method is effective for selecting appropriate sources.
The shape of query windows for spatial selection queries is a rectangle in many cases. However, it can be issued for spatial selection queries with not only rectangular query widow, but also polygonal query window. Moreover, as the applications like GIS can manage much more spatial data, they can support the more various applications. Therefore it is valuable for considering about the query processing method suitable for not only rectangle query window, but also general polygonal one. It is the general state-of-the-art approach to use the plane- sweep technique as the computation algorithm in the refinement step as the spatial join queries do. However, from the observation on the characteristics of spatial data and query windows, we can find in many cases that the shape of query window is much simpler than that of spatial data. From these observations, we suggest a new refinement process approach which is suitable for this situation. Our experiments show that, if the number of vertices composing the query window is less than about 20, the new approach we suggest is superior to the state-of-the-art approach by about 20% in general cases.

Background Insufficient satisfaction outcome literature exists to assist consultations for scar revision surgery; such outcomes should reflect the patient's perspective. The aim of this study was to prospectively investigate scar revision patient satisfaction outcomes, according to specified patient-selection criteria. Methods Patients (250) were randomly selected for telephone contacting regarding scar revisions undertaken between 2007-2011. Visual analogue scores were obtained for scars pre- and post-revision surgery. Surgery selection criteria were; 'presence' of sufficient time for scar maturation prior to revision, technical issues during or wound complications from the initial procedure that contributed to poor scarring, and 'absence' of site-specific or patient factors that negatively influence outcomes. Patient demographics, scar pathogenesis (elective vs. trauma), underlying issue (functional/symptomatic vs. cosmetic) and revision surgery details were also collected with the added use of a real-time, hospital database. Results Telephone contacting was achieved for 211 patients (214 scar revisions). Satisfaction outcomes were '2% worse, 16% no change, and 82% better'; a distribution maintained between body sites and despite whether surgery was functional/symptomatic vs. cosmetic. Better outcomes were reported by patients who sustained traumatic scars vs. those who sustained scars by elective procedures (91.80% vs. 77.78%, P=0.016) and by females vs. males (85.52% vs. 75.36%, P<0.05), particularly in the elective group where males (36.17%) were more likely to report no change or worse outcomes versus females (16.04%) (P<0.01). Conclusions Successful scar revision outcomes may be achieved using careful patient selection. This study provides useful information for referring general practitioners, and patient-surgeon consultations, when planning scar revision.
Purpose: This study was investigated the effects of culinary and foodservice major selection motive and work value on the major satisfaction, career search efficacy and career exploration behavior of college students. Methods: Survey comprising total 53 questions including 8 for major selection motive, 8 for work value, 6 for major satisfaction, 20 for career search efficacy, 5 for career exploration was distributed to 400 college students majoring in culinary or foodservice. Frequency analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression were conducted using SPSS Statistics (ver. 21.0). Organization of concept and analyses of the relationship between variables based on the advanced study and database is essential. Research model based on the theory and analysis of the extracted data was established; and subsequently, the proof relations between the variables were analysed. Results: The study results indicated that, only intrinsic work values among personal motivation and work values were significant. This is because personal motivation and intrinsic work values are related to subjects' aptitudes, interests, talents, and future professions when students choose their majors. Therefore, interest, abilities, achievement, high understanding, and satisfactory schooling are important factors. Conclusion: This study has newly expanded the research on career search behavior to include psychological factors and cognitive and attitudinal factors. We also determined competitive operations that enhance students' major satisfaction, career search efficiency, and career search behavior.
Image similarity is often decided by computing the distance between two feature vectors. Unfortunately, the feature vector cannot always reflect the notion of similarity in human perception. Therefore, most current image retrieval systems use weights measuring the importance of each feature. In this paper new initial weight selection and update rules are proposed for image retrieval purpose. In order to obtain the purpose, database images are first divided into groups based on human perception and, inner and outer query are performed, and, then, optimal feature weights for each database images are computed through searching the group where the result images among retrieved images are belong. Experimental results on 2000 images show the performance of proposed algorithm.

As construction projects have increased in size and height recently, lifting accounts for increasingly greater portion and tower cranes are used more frequently. At present, the selection and arrangement of tower crane are depend on the experience of experts. However, since the number of experts is fairly limited and a database for tower cranes regarding lifting capacity, operation properties, rent, etc has not been widely employed, tower cranes are often not effectively selected and arranged which can cause cost overruns and delays in the lifting work. To address such issues, this study attempts to perform a basic study for development of automatic arrangement algorithm of tower crane using drawing recognition. If relevant database is established and the algorithm suggested in this study is refined more systematically, even beginning level engineers will be able to plan tower crane arrangement in a way comparable to experienced experts.
A web-based client/server program, MOVIDIK(Motor-Operated-Valve Integrated Database Information of KEPCO) has been developed to perform a design basis safety evaluation for a motor-operated-valve(MOV) in the nuclear power plant. The MOVIDIK consists of seven analysis modules and one administrative module. The analysis module calculates a differential pressure on the valve disk, thrust/torque acting at a valve stem, maximum allowable stress, thermal-overload-relay selection, voltage degradation, actuator output and margin. In addition, the administrative module manages user information, approval system and code information. MOVIDIK controls a huge amount of evaluation data and piles up the safety information of safety-related MOV. The MOVIDIK will improve the efficiency of safety evaluation work and standardize the analysis process for the MOV.

The research into the conditions of the active rules is a very important element in the enhancing of the performance of the active database, and the processing time of the calculation generated from the conditions must be minimized in order to improve performance. In this paper, we propose the conditions processing system with the preprocessor which determines the delta tree structure and constructs the classification tree. Due to the characteristics of the active database through which the active rules can be comprehended beforehand. the preprocessor can be introduced. In this paper, the delta tree and classification tree which can effectively Process the join and selection operations instead of the delta relation is proposed. enhancing the condition evaluation performance.
