  • Realm is an open source database developed to replace SQLite, which is commonly used in mobile devices. The data stored in the database must be checked during the digital forensic analysis process for mobile devices because it can help to understand the behavior of the user and whether the mobile device is operating or not. In addition, since the user can intentionally use anti-forensic techniques such as deleting data stored in the database, research on how to recover deleted records is needed. In this paper, we propose a method to recover records that have not been overwritten after deletion based on the analysis of the structure and record and deletion process of the Realm database file.

  • The risk of leakage or theft of critical data which is stored in database is increasing in accordance with evolution of information security paradigm. At the same time, needs for database security have been on the rapid increase due to endless leakage of massive personal information. The existing technology for prevention of internal information leakage possesses the technical limitation to achieve security goal completely, because the passive control method including a certain security policy, which allows the only authorized person to access to DBMS, may have a limitation. Hence in this study, we propose Query Signature System which signatures the queries accessing to the critical information by interrupting and passing them. Furthermore this system can apply a constant security policy to organization and protect database system aggressively by restricting critical query of database.

  • In many real-time applications, security is another important requirement, since the secure real time database system maintains sensitive information to be shared by multiple users with different levels of security clearance or to be attacked by hackers with ill will. Encryption policies are necessary for the security of secure real-time database systems in addition to the existing security methods, too. However, there has not been much work for the encryption policies in secure real-time database systems, although sensitive information must be safeguarded in real-time systems as well. In this paper, we propose a encryption manager for the purpose of solving the encryption policies of the secure real-time database systems. What is important in the encryption policies of secure real-time database systems is security and timeliness. A significant feature of the proposed encryption manager is the ability to dynamically adapt a encryption algorithm that consider transaction deadline and security level.

  • As leakage cases of personal information increase, the concern of personal information protection is also increasing. As a result, most applications encrypt and store sensitive information such as personal information. Especially, in case of instant messengers, it is more difficult to find database where is not encrypted and stored. However, this kind of database encryption acts as anti-forensic from the point of view of digital forensic investigation. In this paper, we analyze database encryption process of MalangMalang Talkcafe application which is one of instant messenger. Based on our analysis, we propose a decryption method and explain the meaningful information collected in the database.

  • As the usage of Internet grows, we share many informations among the others and use more database systems for a various type of data. However, secure database system, which prevents the unauthorized users from modification, deletion, and access, is urgently required for sharing data in Internet. Conventional technologies of a data security are passive methods which depend on several steps with an access control, and these methods are vulnerable against the illegal attack because attacker can see the plain text that is private message. To prevent private data item for the special security from the malicious attack in web database, this paper is devoted to implement database system using steganography method, so we can protect the data item completely because attacker cannot know the secure message although he get the content of database.

  • In accordance with the advancement of IT, application systems with various and complex functions are being required. Such application systems are typically built based on database in order to manage data efficiently. But most object-oriented analysis design methodologies for developing web application systems have not been providing interconnections with the database. Since the requirements regarding the security issues increased, the importance of security has become emphasized. However, since the security is usually considered at the last step of development, it is difficult to apply the security during the whole process of system development, from the requirement analysis to implementation. Therefore, this paper suggests an object-oriented analysis and design methodology for secure database design from the requirement analysis to implementation. This object-oriented analysis and design methodology for secure database design offers correlations with database that most existing object-oriented analysis and design methodologies could not provide. It also uses UMLsec, the modeling language, to apply security into database design. In addition, in order to implement security, RBAC (Role Based Access Control) of relational database is used.

  • The most important issue in database security is correct concurrency control under the restrictive security policy. The goal of secure transaction management is to keep security and provide many concurrent users with the high availability of database. In this paper, we consider the security environment of multidatabase system with replicated data. The read-from relationship in the existed serializability is improper in security environment. So, we define new read-from relationship and propose new secure 1-copy quasi-seriailzability by utilizing this relationship and display some examples. This security environment requires both the existed local autonomy and the security autonomy as newly defined restriction. To solve covert channel problem is the most difficult issue in developing secure scheduling scheme. The proposed secure 1-copy quasi-serializability is very proper for global transactions in that this serializability not violates security autonomy and prevents covert channel between global transactions.

  • SQLite database is a file-based DBMS(Database Management System) that provides transactions, and it is loaded on smartphone because it is appropriate for lightweight platform. AS the usage of smartphone increased, SQLite-related crimes can occur. In this paper, we proposed a new concealing method for SQLite db file and a detection method against it. As a result of concealing experiments, it is possible to intentionally conceal 70bytes in the DB file header and conceal original data by inserting artificial pages. But it can be detected by parsing 70bytes based on SQLite structure or using the number of record and index. After that, we proposed detection algorithm for concealed data.

  • This paper proposes a privacy-preserving database encryption scheme that provides access pattern hiding against a service provider. The proposed scheme uses a session key to permute indices of database records each time they are accessed. The proposed scheme can achieve access pattern hiding in situations in which an adversary cannot access the inside of the database directly, by separating the entity with an index table and data table and permuting both the index and position where the data are stored. Moreover, it is very efficient since only O(1) server computation and communication cost are required in terms of the number of the data stored. It can be applied to cloud computing, where the intermediate entities such as cloud computing service provider can violate the privacy of users or patients.

  • This treatise deals with designing a database encryption model that interworks with Intranet within a system. Today attempts are being made to substitute legacy client/server computing environment with what interworks with web and database, and thus the question how the security for the database that interworks with Intranet can be secured is emerging as a matter of great importance. This treatise, therefore, offers an encryption model which offers how to create an encryption key using an ID and a password most widely used in Intranet access and by using this key, how to encipher information ill a DB table, providing a maintenance scheme for the Key as well.
