  • Recently, data access control policies have not been applied for authorized or unauthorized persons properly and information leakage incidents have occurred due to database security vulnerabilities. In the traditional database access control methods, administrators grant permissions for accessing database objects to users. However, these methods couldn't be applied for diverse access control policies to the database. In addition, another database security method which uses data encryption is difficult to utilize data indexing. Thus, this paper proposes an enhanced database access control system via a packet analysis method between client and database server in network to apply diverse security policies. The proposed security system can be applied the applications with access control policies related to specific factors such as date, time, SQL string, the number of result data and etc. And it also assures integrity via a public key certificate and MAC (Message Authentication Code) to prevent modification of user information and query sentences.

  • In this paper, the improved security operation model based on the vulnerability database is studied. The proposed model consists of information protection equipment, vulnerability database, and a dashboard that visualizes and provides the results of interworking with detected logs. The evaluation of the model is analyzed by setting up a simulated attack scenario in a virtual infrastructure. In contrast to the traditional method, it is possible to respond quickly to threats of attacks specific to the security vulnerabilities that the asset has, and to find redundancy between detection rules with a secure agent, thereby creating an optimal detection rule.

  • Recently, big data applications need another database different from the Relation database. NoSQL databases are used to save and handle massive amounts of data. NoSQL databases have many advantages over traditional databases like flexibility, efficiently processing data, scalability, and dynamic schemas. Most of the current applications are based on the web, and the size of data is in increasing. NoSQL databases are expected to be used on a more and large scale in the future. However, NoSQL suffers from many security issues, and one of them is access control. Many recent applications need Fine-Grained Access control (FGAC). The integration of the NoSQL databases with FGAC will increase their usability in various fields. It will offer customized data protection levels and enhance security in NoSQL databases. There are different NoSQL database models, and a document-based database is one type of them. In this research, we choose the CouchDB NoSQL document database and develop an access control mechanism that works at a fain-grained level. The proposed mechanism uses role-based access control of CouchDB and restricts read access to work at the document level. The experiment shows that our mechanism effectively works at the document level in CouchDB with good execution time.

  • In the spatial database systems, it is necessary to manage spatial objects that have two or more aspatial information with different security levels on the same layer. If we adapt the polyinstantiation concept of relational database system for these spatial objects, it is difficult to process the representation problem of spatial objects and to solve the security problem that is service denial and information flow by access of subject that has a different security level. To address these problems, we propose a polyinstantiation method for security management of spatial objects in this paper. The proposed method manages secure spatial database system efficiently by creating spatial objects according to user's security level through security-level-conversion-step and polyinstantiation-generation-step with multi-level security policy. Also, in case of user who has a different security level requires secure operations, we create polyinstance for spatial object to solve problems of service denial and information flow.

  • This paper describes access control, user authentication, and User Security and Encryption technology for the construction of database security system from network users. We propose model of network encrypted database security system for combining these elements through the analysis of operational and technological elements. Systematic combination of operational and technological elements with proposed model can construct encrypted database security system secured from unauthorized users in distributed computing environment.

  • In the development process of application systems, the most important works are analysis and design. Most of the application systems are implemented on database system. So, database design is important. Also, IT System are confronted with more and more attacks by an increase interconnections between IT systems. Therefore security-related processes belong to a very important process. Security is a complex non-functional requirement that can interaction of many parts in the system. But Security is considered in the final stages of development. Therefore, Their increases the potential for the final product to contain vulnerabilities. Accordingly, Early in development related to security analysis and design process is very important. J2EE gives a solution based on RBAC((Role Based Access Control) for security and object-relational database also has RBAC for security. But there is not a object-oriented analysis and design methodology using RBAC of J2EE and object-relational database for security. In this paper, the unified object-oriented analysis and design methodology is developed for security-critical web application systems based on J2EE and object-relational database. We used UMLsec and RBAC of object-relational database and J2EE for this methodology.

  • Nowadays, the databases are getting larger and larger. As the company has difficulty in managing the database, they want to outsource the database to the cloud system. In this case the database security is more important because their database is managed by the cloud service provider. Among database security techniques, the encryption method is a well-certified and established technology for protecting sensitive data. However, once encrypted, the data can no longer be easily queried. The performance of the database depends on how to encrypt the sensitive data, and on the approach for searching, and the retrieval efficiency that is implemented. In this paper we propose the new suitable mechanism to encrypt the database and lookup process on the encrypted database under control of the cloud service provider. This database encryption algorithm uses the bloom filter with the variable keyword based index. Finally, we demonstrate that the proposed algorithm should be useful for database encryption related research and application activities.

  • In this paper, separated and optimized pattern database model is proposed. In order to improve efficiency of Network-based IDS, pattern database is classified by proper basis. Classification basis is decided by the specific Intrusions validity on specific target. Using this model, IDS searches only valid patterns in pattern database on each captured packets. In result, IDS can reduce system resources for searching pattern database. So, IDS can analyze more packets on the network. In this paper, proper classification basis is proposed and pattern database classified by that basis is formed. And its performance is verified by experimental results.

  • To improve educational excellence and quality, academies carry forward integrative security model related to academic affairs including personal information. This paper proposes an integrative security model for academic affairs database, which guarantees DBMS access control, confidentiality, integrity, and security inspection. This proposed model considered that most academies can't make good use of data security product and suggests a detailed measure to realize the confidentiality based on the function of DBMS.

  • While the secure concurrency control schemes in multilevel secure database management systems synchronize transactions cleared at different security level they must consider the problem covert channel. although previous works achieve the confidentiality successfully, they overlook the integrity or the availability. For being evaluated as highly secure database systems , the multilevel secure database management systems must achieve the confidentiality, integrity, and the availability that are the well-known major security aspects. By use of verified transactions ordering relationship, in this Paper, we Propose a new secure concurrency control scheme that is capable of increasing the degree of fairness among transactions cleared at different security levels.
